Guest JacK Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Ok, because I've been smacking around a punching bag for a fairly long time, occassionally with gloves and occassionally without, but recently I've started to cut my knuckles up either way. I think it was from winter, when my skin got all dried out and stuff, and then cracked from the impact with the bag. Anyway, I figured that if I taped my knuckles it'd fix it. Now, is it like some special tape or something? Or is it like masking tape, or is it the tape peeps tape their wrists with for some reason. What is it??? And at what type of store could I get it, assuming it's not some simple type of tape.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Athletic tape, chief. Check your local drugstore or sporting goods store. Just go bare knuckle, though. Builds character.
Guest JacK Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 Yeah, I was doing that, but I'm starting to get very weird looks and a lot of unwanted attention from peeps asking me about my knuckles. Cool, thanks for that though. It's not so much the knuckles as the bits below them, I think I'm like rubbing and tearing those bits during the punchs.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 5, 2003 Report Posted November 5, 2003 That means you're not hitting it hard enough. Use the points of your knuckles.
The Czech Republic Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 I use magnetic tape so I can view my punches later on and critique them.
Sandman9000 Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Only pussies use their fists. Real men use headbutts.
Cran Da Maniac Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Duct Tape baby. Works for anything
The Kid Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Hockey/Athletic tape...works like a charm.

Murmuring Beast Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 A wrist watch is always effective.
Nevermortal Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Make sure to put on a pre-wrap before you tape up or its going to suck removing the tape.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Go for the barbed wire. Fuck shit up.
Nevermortal Posted November 6, 2003 Report Posted November 6, 2003 Go for the barbed wire. Fuck shit up. But as we all know from Moe Syzlak, they don't let ya do that no more.
Guest JacK Posted November 7, 2003 Report Posted November 7, 2003 What's a pre wrap? Lucky I haven't done anything since, as I found some tape to use. And also, mostly it happens when I get tired, as I'll like hit it with a lot of rapid punches in qucik succession, trying to keep the bag as horizontal as I can, and I get sloppy and mishit it a little bit. And about the barbed wire, I'm sort of looking for that, more gloves with bits of metal and a bit of padding, I saw them somewhere but can't for the life of me remember where.

A pre-wrap is like a thin strip of material akin to gauze, but thinner. It keeps you from ripping your hair the fuck out when taking off the tape.
Guest JacK Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 Ahhh, I think I can get away without that on my knuckles, their like the only spot I have with no hair. I think I might have some of that actually, lying around somewhere. Or at least stuff that fits the description. Cool, thanks!
JJMc Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Johnson & Johnson adhesive tape works good.
