Star Wars on DVD!!

Recommended Posts

Last I heard, Lucas had no intentions of releasing the original editions, despite the incredible backlash against the fans for that call. But they're not important, now are they? His justification is that the SE are how he always invisioned the original three movies to be, but for the obvious reasons, they couldn't be up to par with those visions. Because of advances in technology, his vision was able to finally come true (or so he claims).

If he's smart (which I doubt more and more as time goes by) he'll release both versions of each film, in different sets, of course, and take advantage of how much money stupid fanboys are willing to blow.

He needs bitch-slapped.

Damnit George, I don't care if Solo shot first.

I don't want to see that freakin' "Jabba song."

I don't care if those buffalo-looking things aren't roaming around in the sand.

I don't care if Hoth's Wampa gets less screen time.

I don't care if Sarlacc looks like that plant from "Little Shop of Horrors."

Grrr...

In the new ones "YUB YUB" is changed.

This is wrong.

It is, in fact, very wrong.

I wrote to the Freemasons about changing it, but I never got an answer.

To be honest, I've only seen the full SE version of ANH (in theater), and caught the tail end of ROTJ:SE (on TV), where I saw the added celebrations around the galaxy and the changing of the original celebration music.

Should I be glad I haven't seen TEST:SE and the full ROTJ:SE?

If you're a purist, yes. If not, then no.

I, for one, feel dirty when I watch the special editions.

With all the grumbling I've done about these newer versions, I think what you are talking about is one of the better additions, especially with ROTJ.

Take that for what you will...

...ouch...

Well, for me, a couple of the little things did provide amusement... like how I did get a chuckle in ANH when Han runs into 50 stormtroopers (as opposed to like 10 in the original) on the Death Star

I suppose I'd have to throw myself in the purist pile though, much as I am loathe to label myself as such
