Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 8, 2003 Detroit Tigers officials have reported they are going to seriously pursue both Miguel Tejada and Vladmir Guerrero. If Vlad were to play in Comerica for half a season each year he might end up setting records for triples. When he's at his best he's lining the ball to right-center or down the right field line. It would basically be instant revenue, and since Detroit has no major contracts except for Dmitri Young I could definately see them having the money to sign at least one...dunno about both though. treble 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2003 I think they'd have to offer a LOT more than anyone else is willing to give them in order to entice them to play in Detroit.

I dunno, it makes alot of sense as far as Vlad goes. He wants to play somewhere that if he walks down the street nobody will recognise him...well hell, its Hockey Town USA...nobody will know. He also wants to play somewhere with an actual ownership and the Tigers aren't up for sale seeing as how they just got that big new ballpark. I don't see Tejada leaving the West Coast
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2003 You can seriously pursue anyone. Doesn't mean you'll get 'em...
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2003 I think the Tigers are still paying Damion Easley's contract. In any case, I don't see Vlad or Tejada going to Detroit, and quite honestly a big name free agent is not what Detroit needs right now. They need to build from the farm system before they can take the next step.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2003 Al's right. It's not worth it. Look for some B level free agents, preferably ones who think they where treated poorly by their former teams. Guys with chips on their shoulder tend to play well.

A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2003 it's just sad how they payd Dean Palmer liked 8 million last year and he only had like 20 abs.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2003 Remember when the Denver Nuggets said they were going to "seriously" pursue Tim Duncan and Jason Kidd last year? All they got was Andre frikking Miller. Move right along folks- all the Tigers are gonna get are some C level free agents at best.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 8, 2003 Still, if anything this shows that Tigers management is willing to spend some money
Gert T 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2003 Tigers should just try to throw around money to FA pitchers, although they're caving and moving in the park. But I agree, they already hit rock bottom, so build it up. (farm system)
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2003 Hitters would be my first priority. Maroth, Bonderman, and Cornejo aren't great but it's a start at least.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2003 Unless Cornejo starts K'ing batters, he's a time bomb waiting to go off.
