LooseCannon25 Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Actually, if I'm the Mets, I'd make that trade. Soriano is a big name who already has star value in NY. With all the moves the Yankees have made, how patient are the MEts' fans going to be to accept a youth movement? A 20-year-old SS needs time to develop; Soriano is already a star. I'd make the deal without hesitation if I were the Mets. Soriano is a big star, but he kinda got exposed at the end of last season including the postseason. He also is a horrible defensive player. Reyes did very well in his rookie year and showed a lot. He's also a great defender and just 20 years old, so he'll only get better. I'd stick with Reyes
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 I don't think he got exposed in the postseason. He just slumped. Still, I agree. Reyes could end up VERY good, and he's cheap as well. He won't hit arbitration until the 2007 season.
DerangedHermit Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 And Soriano was revealed to be 28, not 26.
Dr. Tom Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 So he's 28? He's a STAR, and stars sell tickets. The Mets have their division rivals to compete with in the standings, but the Yankees to compete with in the minds of the city. There's no reason not to bring in a big star like Soriano. He's 28, meaning they can sign him for 5-6 and expect good, consistent production from him. High ticket prices are hard to justify with, "This kid might be DA BOMB~! someday."

When Reyes came up and was playing well there was a buzz and more fans were coming to the games. People will pay to see a rising young superstar in the making
Guest Anglesault Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Tom, have you ever LISTENED to a Met fan? They won't go for this deal because they still think they can trade Reyes, Mr. Met an a box of never used "2000 World Series Champions" t-shirts an get Barry Bonds.

This coming from a guy who is still whining like a bitch about clemens going to Houston. Get over it
LooseCannon25 Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Its not far off actually. what about Yankee fans then? Not enough they can buy anybody they want, but god forbid they lose someone.....Then the person who gave you their heart and soul for several years is a peice of shit all of a sudden. Bunch of hippocrites

And...? it's called hippocracy...............I hear Yankee fans trying to make a deal to trade Steve Karsay and Enrique Wilson for Eric Chavez all the time.....every team has fans thaat are completely biased with trade talk.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Every team has a minority percentage of fans who want to make insane trades. But very few people (including Met fans I've met, ironically) deny that the New York Mets' fans have a bizarre and disproportionate amount of fans who demand those trades at all hours on sports radio.
Bored Posted February 25, 2004 Author Report Posted February 25, 2004 News is slow, so I now present Pedro Martinez and his Jheri Curl. That ain't nuthin' but Ultra Perm.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Batting Lead-off and playing CF for the Boston Red Sox; Jesus Christ
Guest Anglesault Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 No, that's Moses. 40 more years in the desert for Boston. He doesn't seriously think that looks good?
Guest OctoberBlood Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Batting Lead-off and playing CF for the Boston Red Sox; Jesus Christ Haha. That rules. I love Damon.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Well, it gives my sig a boost at the very least.
2GOLD Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 With the team the Reds have in the division they are in, they better ALL start praying. I wish them the best though cause I really liked Griffey and it's a damn shame to see things turn out like that. Hell, Griffey is the only person in baseball history to make a movie turn out BAD for the team. Even in the movies the Twins get screwed. And in other news, the Chicago Cub faithful will be destorying a baseball live on MSNBC on Thursday night. With the help of Hollywood no less. I know I should be ashamed of this as a Cubs fan but damn, I freakin love it. Only the Cubbie faithful could convince Hollywood to help with the destruction of a baseball live on national television.
sfaJack Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 And in other news, the Chicago Cub faithful will be destorying a baseball live on MSNBC on Thursday night. With the help of Hollywood no less. They need to sacrifice Steve Bartman instead!

Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Little Big League or some shit like that. The movie where the owner of the Twins dies and leaves the team to his grandkid. It also starred Randy Johnson with mullett
MrRant Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Little Big League or some shit like that. The movie where the owner of the Twins dies and leaves the team to his grandkid. It also starred Randy Johnson with mullett Randy still has a mullet. A mini one.... but it's still there.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 The Cubs need that kid that was in the movie with the messed up arm that allowed him to throw 100 mph.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 That kid sucked, but I believe he is owned by Disney as he only appears in shitty movies by them. That movie would be Rookie of the Year which starred a still drugged up Gary Busey and Daniel Stern It also had the major phrase "FunkyButtLover!" or some shit like that when the doctor gets nailed by the kids fucked up arm.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I don't remember the name of that film off hand, although I did see it in theatres. I do remember it was a re-make of Roogie's Bump..
Guest OctoberBlood Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 The only place the Cubs exceed the Reds is in Starting Pitching. Sadly, pitching is what wins. Oh, and the Cubs don't need that kid, the Reds do~! With that being said, heres one more picture: Yes. Our savior. Mr. Poppel.

2GOLD Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 The Cubs need that kid that was in the movie with the messed up arm that allowed him to throw 100 mph. They have him. His name is now Kyle Fransworth. Seriously, someone who throws JUST fastballs in the majors? He'd get KILLED now. Henry Rowengartner would have been in the minors by the All Star break.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 That kid sucked, but I believe he is owned by Disney as he only appears in shitty movies by them. Henry Rowengartner - Thomas Ian Nicholas and hes been in all 3 American Pie movies as well as such Disney classics as The Rules of Attraction and Halloween: Resurrection. So, no..
Guest FrigidSoul Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 are you telling me he ended up being the guy to fuck around with Tara Reid in American Pie?(only character I can see him being) He's still a crappy actor.
