SWF Smarkdown HOLT report

November 10, 2003

Tokyo, Japan at Budokan Hall

Report by Jason Boggs of Sasebo, Japan (via San Diego, CA), Smartmarks.com reader

I’m in the Marine Corps stationed over here in Sasebo. I took the train all the way from Nagasaki to see this show, and believe me, it was worth the trip!

Dark Matches:

- Thoth beat “Shining Black” TokyoX in about 25 seconds. Before the match got started, TokyoX got on the microphone and started badmouthing Japan and the city of Tokyo. He said that they weren’t worthy to bear *his* namesake. I guess Thoth had enough, though, because he finally snapped and went off on this guy. He ended up winning with Riot of the Blood.

- Leon Sharpe came down to the ring in wrestling attire, and said on the microphone that he was asked to come here because the SWF was going to give him a special birthday present. Sharpe went on to say that he was sure that his present was that he was finally going to get bumped to the SWF. Unfortunately for him, I don’t think that’s what his present was, as “Du Haste” brought out none other than Jamie Drazon. Jay Dawg just went absolutely nuts on poor Leon; he just beat on him constantly for about five minutes before mercifully ending the match with JD’s Revenge. Leon had to be assisted to the back by EMT’s after the match.

- Dominic Korgath upset Stryke in 3:44. I think that Stryke was completely unprepared, because this match was almost entirely dominated by Korgath. Stryke started to make a late comeback, but Korgath countered a Frogsplash Crossbody with a Fallaway Slam, and went on to win with the Torture Rack.

Smarkdown:

- Japanese recording artist Hikaru Utada performed both the American and Japanese National Anthems. She really has a beautiful singing voice, and she’s pretty easy on the eyes, too.

- Annie stayed in the ring for a few more minutes after the show went to commercial. Before she left, she vowed that she would return to Japan as the SWF World Champion.

- After the Handicap match, there was an intermission. Funyon announced that there was a special guest in attendance tonight, then directed our attention to the skybox, where Frost was seen sitting with the Memphis Eel. Frost stood up to accept the crowd’s applause, and we gave him a three-minute standing ovation. They then held a contest to give away some Frost-brand™ merchandise, and the guy sitting in front of me won a year’s supply of Frost-brand™ potato chips.

- After the last promo, and the show went off the air, Justice and Rule came down to the ring, demanding reparations for the sneak attack by Wildchild and Johnny Dangerous on SJL Wrath. Wildchild and Johnny started to come back out to the ring to confront the tag champs, but Erek Taylor and Michael Craven came up from behind and jumped them. They beat them all the way down to the ring, where Justice and Rule joined them in the assault, but Strangler and Flesher came back down to the ring to make the save, chasing the four attackers out of the ring. “I am the Man” came back on as Flesher and Strangler helped Wildchild and Johnny back to their feet.

- After they finally left the ring, Funyon thanked all of us for coming out.

Best Pops.

Loudest Boos
