Guest Dmann2000 Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Inspired by the commercial thread, what are everyone's favorite film trailers? Or least favorite? Or the ones you thought made the film look great but then the film turned out to be dumb. Best- Can't really say off the top of my head, but deny me that "Titanic"'s trailer didn't knock you out, especially after all the bad buzz. Worst- "Cast Away"- the film is fine but could we tell anymore about the film in it? Misleading- "Pearl Harbor"- the anti-Titanic, you knew going into Titanic there was a love story, but "Harbor" played up the battle too much and neglected to let people know there's a 1hr45min sappy melodrama that comes before it.
Guest Just J Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 The HULK had several great trailers, although misleading.
Guest JumpinJackFlash Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 The Kill Bill bootleg trailer is the best trailer ever. Its so awesome! Its somewhat like a spaghetti western trailer. Its on the soundtrack, as an enhanced feature, along with two other trailers.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Starship Troopers had an awesome one. It started out with a death toll, then blur and a whole lot of shootin.
Ravenbomb Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Best: Battle Royale, Memento (Set up the disorder and such without giving away hardly anything, all perfect) Worst: Empire Misleading: Riding in Cars with Boys
BlackFlagg Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 From Dusk Till Dawn had a great trailer, all the stuff about the Gecko brothers escape and such, then when you go see it and the first vamp appears it's a total holy shit moment, heh
Insane Bump Machine Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 The final trailer for Star Wars Episode One was awesome. Oh, and can't forget the trailers for the first Matrix. I nearly pissed my pants when they finally showed some of the action scenes in the later ones. Edit: Yes, Battle Royale I and II had great trailers.
Ravenbomb Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 do you know where I can find a quicktime trailer for BR2? The other ones lock up my computer
Nighthawk Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 I liked the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake trailer. I usually don't remember trailers, but it's recent, so yeah. Misleading would probably be Fight Club.
Lord of The Curry Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 The hot shit right is the fucking Return of the King trailer. Recognize.
justsoyouknow Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 The Return of the King trailer actually does nothing for me. The trailer for Punisher seems fairly decent, though.
Skywarp! Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 My vote for misleading goes to "The Score". The point of the trailer is that two crooks are working together, then one does a heel turn on the other. When you see the movie, you begin to realize that that WAS the climactic "twist" to the movie. Yup. They gave up the twist in the trailer.
Tully316 Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Best Trailer: 2003 Homette Double-Wide has central air, central heat and an expando eating nook!
Ravenbomb Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 They gave up the twist in the trailer. Same thing with Empire. The guy turning on John Leguizamo was supposed to be a big twist in the movie.
Slayer Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 How about Enough? The trailer essentially was the movie Man beats up wife Wife gets revenge ...that's all
Guest Boo_Bradley Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 "Let the Bodies hit the Floor" Cranked up during the Trailers for Jason X had me marking out... But that song never played during the movie
The Ghost of bps21 Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Mission Impossible 2 is the single most misleading trailer EVER. THAT looked like it was going to be a fun action packed movie. Then the movie came out...and it was boring.
Guest wrestlingbs Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Good: Attack of the Clones- Even if you hated the movie, I liked how they worked in the Vader breathing. Bad: Alamo-Hits every trailer chiche within 30 seconds. I'm surprised it didn't start out with that deep-voiced annoucer saying "In a world gone mad..." Misleading: Austin Powers 2- In a good way a misleading trailer, with Dr. Evil paroding Star Wars: TPM.
