Kurt Angle needs more surgery

Recommended Posts

As we reported earlier this week, Kurt Angle has been feeling pain in his surgically repaired neck recently. He had an MRI last week and the results came back yesterday. He has a bone chip in his neck and a source close to the situation told me that he will work the PPV tomorrow and is scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Jho in Pittsburgh on Monday. The procedure is said to be less serious and invasive than the surgery he had with Jho earlier this year. I don’t know how much time he will be out of action after the surgery.

Best wishes to Angle.

I wonder how this will affect the booking of the top-tier wrestlers on Smackdown. A few workers could've greatly benefitted from a program with Angle right about now.

Like who?

Brock is busy, Show is US champ and everyone else is a face.

Show hasn't exactly been the "defending champion" anyway. I'm convinced that the next feud he's going to (Cena/Benoit) WILL NOT be for the belt either.

I highly doubt that they were really going to wallow around with Angle after the PPV was over. You have five serious contenders on the Smackdown side (Cena, Angle, Benoit, Brock and TBS, with Eddy tied up) - none of the players could afford to go down the card. The writers would be forced to bring someone up to "their" level.

Just like they did when...

Or that time that they...

They ALWAYS bring the guy down to the midcarder's level.

And besides, what heel would be brought up to feud with Angle?

A-Train or Big Show or the only heels reasonably big enough to feud with Angle.

Considering it's minimally invasive and has been tested by other neurosurgerons before, it's not exactly "miracle surgery".

It is when the guy's looking at a year plus out and comes back in only 2. Look at Edge, he was injured before Angle and he's still got a few months before he comes back.

Show is US champ, and if they suggested an Albert feud to me, I'd make up a neck injury.

They're not really missing anything with him out. He has no major feud (barring McMahon or something) on the horizon.

And he'll be 100% after that, right?

Austin and Benoit were two relatively older workers that came back before their projected return date (as Edge will follow suit)...both were in HORRIBLE shape after returning: this is not limited to, but including recurring neck trouble and nerve damage (noticeably with Benoit).

Younger workers in Rhyno and Lita took 14 and 18 months, respectively, to return to full-time action.

Guess which boat would Angle most likely be in?

Well hopefully, he gets better soon. I'm just glad that this happened now and not a month before WrestleMania or something.

A little bitter?

That's the problem with running a main-event feud for a year. Once it's over, there's noewhere to go for one of them but down.

I say have Angle lose his grin.

"What I'm going to do is go back home and see what's left for me; whether it'll be in this ring...whether it'll be out of this ring. I know that over the, uh, the last several months I've lost a lot of things and one of them has been my grin. And, and I know it doesn't mean a whole lot to everbody else, but it means a lot to me. So I have to go back and fix myself, and take care of myself, and I have to go back and I have to find my grin because somewhere along the line I lost it and I don't care, really, I don't care if it's unpopular, and I don't care if, uh, people want to make fun of me because I'm an emotional guy. But, um, this is all I've ever wanted to do and uh, over the last year I got to do it and whether you like me or not, I just want to tell you that, uh, last year was the most wonderful year of my life. And, uh, if I never do get to do it again, it'll be okay because I got to live one full year as being the number one guy in this business and it was the single greatest year of my life."

"And I have you to thank, and I have everybody here to thank, and it means a lot to me and, uh, I'm gonna go home now. Okay?"

Well, since Jones and Morgan are the new "big" guys on the show, which one gets the rub by putting Angle out for two months?

If it's either of the two, it WILL be Morgan.

The WWE, thankfully, doesn't have any faith in Jones to succeed long-term. No way will he be built up serious enough (in the downtime of Kurt's surgery) to even be in the same league as Angle.

...

They wouldn't dare, would they?

Because with a two month injury, you're talking WrestleMania build up territory when he gets back. And he won't have time to blow off the Jones/Morfan feud and start another one for Mania.

I think I'll be the official dick of this topic by saying maybe he wouldn't be injured if he wrestled smart matches (like his alleged favorite wrestler Bret Hart) instead of playing suplex-spotfest-of-death with Lesnar, and bouncing around like a ping pong ball for NATHAN JONES...

You don't need to do those things to have good matches.

True but when you're in there with stiff boards, bumping around is the only thing you can do to make the match watchable. Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels did the same thing through their careers...
