A friend of mine said that if you turn it on and off with the switch in the back it will prematurely wear out the system, and what you should do is hold down the reset button until the light turns red and keep it like that while you're not using it. Is this true? Two, I don't know what I have to buy or how much it is, but I don't really play anything besides fighting games, and Tony Hawk series. Its kinda like the Capcom Vs. series with a little bit of wild gameplay, but a little bit moe toned done. Yeah, just hold the front button. Oops. Didn't see the online thing. You generally can hold the reset button until it goes back into standby...walk off and do something for 10 minutes and then come back in and hit the switch again renactivating it. I keep hearing about all the problems that happen with PS2's and just shake my head, because I never have any of them, even with my system falling off my desk twice. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2003 Ever since the day I bought the thing in August 2001, whenever I finish playing the system, I put it on standby, power it off with the back switch, then pull out the plug. Ever since my original Playstation conked out prematurely, I always unplug it and all my gaming machines after play. The system still draws power from the wall when you leave it plugged in, and it can cause it to wear out quicker, or so I've heard. So far, no real problems.
