I wanted to try and give this a little more flair, with it being a PPV and all, and I don’t know if I succeeded, but here goes, anyway. BTW, let the record reflect that I was going to have Kylie Minogue sing “Advance Australia Fair,” so you can thank Va’aiga and his whacked-out pre-match promo for her absence. ;)

Come to think of it, I almost decided not to do this thing because that promo caused me to have to shitcan about half of the stuff I planned to put in here. But that’s okay, though, because it was so kick-ass!

SWF Sunday Night Frost and HOLT report

November 16, 2003

Sydney, Australia at Sydney Super Dome

Report by Tracey Bruner of Bremerton, WA, Smartmarks.com reader

Frost:

- Spike beat Xcalibur in 6:55 with the Saint’s Demise.

- Kevin Cole conducted an in-ring interview with Team Heel. Erek Taylor dominated most of the interview, talking about what he planned to do to Strangler and then how he was going to make a statement by eliminating Flesher as well. This led to a brief confrontation between Taylor and Ejiro Fasaki, where they started to argue about each other’s championship pedigree, and then Michael Craven chimed in about how HE felt he should be champion. It looked like they were going to break down and fight, and the crowd was really getting into that idea, but Judge Hearford stepped in as the voice of reason, and reminded them each what their goals were for tonight. The rest of the interview was pretty much by the numbers.

- CIA beat Jay Dawg in 8:36 with Air Canada. This was a solid match, but with nothing spectacular.

- Ben Hardy did a backstage interview with Terrance Bailey, who also got a big home crowd pop. He spoke about how he was during his first run in the fed, and admitted to having a few problems that he had to deal with. He thanked the friends he had who made sure that he got the help he needed, and swore that he would be different this time around. When asked about his match against Annie, he said that he was going to give her as good as he had. He said he had nothing but respect for the Ichiban, but that he wanted to regain the Hardcore Title, and that if he had to go through Annie, he would. He also mentioned that he had planned something special to say to the live crowd when he goes out for his match. Pretty solid interview overall.

- Crow and Dante Crane beat Bemani Cross Wizards in 13:22 with Total Elimination. Crow came down to the ring waving the Australian flag and got a strong “home crowd” pop.

- They did another video package, covering the whole PPV to close Frost.

Ashes 2 Ashes:

- Cyclone Comet sang the Star Spangled Banner.

- Dace borrowed a replica of the ICTV title after the match and held it up over his head after the match. He also got a good “Trinity” chant going.

- The crowd worked up a good “WANKER” chant for Matheson as he and Matthews were leaving the ring.

- Prior to the Main Event, Funyon directed everyone’s attention to the Skybox and recognized IGNWF Hall of Fame Superstars Axis and Sacred. They stood up and accepted a five-minute standing ovation.

Best Pops.

1) Team Face

2) Axis and Sacred

3) Crow

4) Janus

5) The HVille Thugg

Loudest Boos

3) Erek Taylor

4) James Matheson

5) John Duran

Yes it does Thugg. The PPV was In Australia. Janus and Crow are Australians. You've seen the pop even Lance Storm can get in Canada (or maybe you haven't). In a PPV in the Bahamas Wildchild would get a bigger pop than anyone.

I am not comparing Crow or Janus to Lance Storm.

Oh, yeah...forgot about that. Well good...that makes me happier cause I was #2 if REAL pops, not some cheap, I"m a hometown guy who likes to rape donkeys pop. :)

Da "uhhhh...right....I better get a huge pop at the MCI Center dammit" H

I'd like to add it was a promo i've been waiting about 4 years to cut, too :)
