Jim Cornette Shoot Interview(2003)

Recommended Posts

Hey yo,

You like, dislike, not care, whatever?

Also, I'd like to solicit some suggestions for shoots to do once I get through the current to-do pile, which is just Kevin Von Erich until the Crash Holly, Ole Anderson, and Taylor from TE1 shoots come in.

Some I have that I haven't reviewed yet are Jerry Lawler, Dutch Mantel, the Rock and Roll Express, Rob Van Dam (1997 or 1998), Tazz (1998 or 1999), and Juventud Guerrera.

I'm open to other suggestions since I will be ordering some new ones shortly, including Vince Russo's shoot. Expect the sarcasm to fly on that one.

Could you do the Dustin Rhodes and Steven Regal shoots?

I'd love to hear if they're worth getting.

Corino or Punk's latest shoots would be interesting

The Gangrel one I really enjoyed.

The Duggan one was pretty good as well, because on one hand there's the shock of DUGGAN saying intelligent things, until he says something stupid again to negate it.

Reviewing the Juvy one likely will be a bitch, though. To do so you have to be capable of understanding him.

I've got Dustin's somewhere... I just forgot I had it. I don't have Regal's, CM Punk's, or Corino's latest, although I had planned on getting Corino's latest and probably Justin Credible's latest in my next order.

Regal's shoot will probably be LOW on my list because it's only 50 minutes long.

The other shoots I just remembered I have somewhere are Bob Orton Jr. (Randy's dad, Piper's henchman), Norman Smiley, Blue Meanie and Jasmine St. Claire, Road Dogg, and Buddy Landell.

There are more than that, but my apartment is a mess at the moment for various reasons and I can't find all of my tapes.

Do they get paid for this shit

Some get money. Others, depending how far down on the totem pole they are, probably get booze.

Many of the older ones, such as Jesse Ventura and the Jim Cornette ones from Smokey Mountain, are unpaid because they were impromptu tapings at company events, with Ventura's coming at the Slamboree 1994 convention and Cornette's coming at various Smokey Mountain Wrestling fan-week events.

God Knows what they gave Jake...

"Uh Jake can we have a shoot interview"

"What ya got?"

"Uh Some rat droppings and a gum wrapper..."

"I'll take it, Load the film...it's gonna be a doozy"...

Oooh, I also want to hear about the Meanie one. Hopefully some cool stories about him and Stevie, and hearing ECW stories usually is a riot.

Meanie's stuff is good. The problem is that they spend a disproportionate amount of time on Jasmine because of their horny fanboy-ism.

I'm sorry but if a porno chick is doing an interview, she better be naked and taking it in some orifice while she's talking. At least Kristi Myst got that half-right in hers, although she DID do Feinslime too... <shudder>

Piper will cut a shoot promo in the Rest stop in Topkea to anyone dumb enough to sit in the stall next to him

Another one to throw out there-

Didn't Piper just do a shoot?

Piper did shoots with both Highspots and RF, unless RF isn't marking theirs *This is not an RF shoot* anymore when it's from Highspots. The problem is that Piper is SO full of shit that I'm going to wait until it gets cheap because I don't want the interview to be like any promo he's done in the last few years, where he mumbles aimlessly.

I'm on two of the ROH Shoot Interview tapes.

You should do those

I tend to stick to single-wrestler or tag team shoots so that I'm more familiar with who's in it and so it's coherent to read later on. Also, I'm only up to ROH 4 and 5, so I know guys like Spanky, the Christopher Street Connection, Alison Danger, etc. but not necessarily ALL the people on the tapes, so those will probably wait until I've watched a few more ROH shows.

#3 DOES look interesting though, if only because Teddy Hart and CM Punk are on there.

I will be looking into the Christopher Daniels shoot if nothing else because he probably has some prime WWF training camp stories as well as stuff on the final days of WCW. That doesn't even go into the primo match footage that will be on there.

I understand- the ROH stuff is probably quite dull anyway.

Are you going to do (or have you done) Dusty or HBK yet?

Dusty, HBK, Tully, the first Bret Hart shoot, etc. are all being saved until I start running out of stuff. The only shoots SK did before me that I've done are Watts and Cornette and that's because a bunch of people requested Watts and I felt SK did a piss-poor job on Cornette ever since I read it in 2001.

Bob Orton would probably be a good read. I'm sure he has a bunch of territory stories, as well as early WWF. Also, It'd be interesting to see if he mentions the sex scandal, seeing as how his brother was one of the main plaintiffs.

Gotta suck for Credible that the biggest highlight of his WWE final stint was his duet with Stephanie...

I faithfully read every shoot interview posted. Those are my favorite columns posted here by far, although the only other one I read all the time is Dames' TNA diatribes so I can keep up with the NWA. I can tell you put a lot of work into them, and I very much appreciate it. The Cornette one was one of the best, if not the best. And I'm dying to read a transcript of the Vince Russo one.

I'm really enjoying these shoots. Very entertaining AND informative. It's one of the things I regularly check when I visit TSM. Personally, I'd like to see a Heyman shoot (recent, if possible).

an Ultimate Warrior shoot would be great comedy.

I can appreciate things being so bad they're funny. But Warrior's stupidity stopped being funny when he started saying he was glad some of his peers were dead (Rick Rude, for example).
