Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 22, 2003 Since I read a game magazine that said the point of the game is finding spheres that help you figure out why Tidus disappeared and then to help bring him back, and I hate that stupid bastard I'm not purchasing the game. I'd rather he stay stuck in whatever dimension he's in playing underwater soccer with his daddy. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, it's not exactly Tidus. The chick with the long hair ya see in the artwork with Yuna is named Lenne and the Tidus look-a-like? Well, I have no clue. The only spoiler I know about, I won't give away....I'll just say look closely at the flashy intros of Yuna [note the question mark...], Rikku, and Paine. How about no, I'm not buying this game nor am I playing it. I hated the original and I'm not going to play the sequel because it has "Final Fantasy" plastered on it. Guest Kamui Report post Posted November 22, 2003 Blockbuster finally got it so I used my stupid Freedom Pass thing to trade in Mario Party 5 for it. Haven't gotten very far due to being EXTREMLEY busy the past two days, but so far I've played through the first mission (the chase up the cliff) and it seems enjoyable enough. Battle system is really simplified, though, but it's still fun, and hopefully the strategy will get higher (along with the difficulty) as I start getting more dresspheres. And I, personally, don't mind the story so far. I like it- it's very different. No quest to save the world or anything like that, just three people doing their job with an annoying bitch trying to stop them. It's fun and different. -Duo
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2003 I've played it for seven hours now. Has anyone seen where my neurological workings have moved off to? It's fun, but Zelda is still my GOTY. It's just that the story is so, so stupid. *weeps*

Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2003 Don't feel like playing the game... hell, actually I can't, since I don't even own a PS2 anymore, but... Can someone explain how Yuna went from a demure conservatively-dressed girl to a scantily-clad almost-Lara-Croft?
Anya 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Because she's not following Yevon anymore. Now that she is free from the responsibilities of being a summoner and stuff she can cut loose and use machines as weapons and dress like that.
Guest Kamui Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Because she's not following Yevon anymore. Now that she is free from the responsibilities of being a summoner and stuff she can cut loose and use machines as weapons and dress like that. Exactly. I don't know about you, but if *I* found out that everything I was ever following was a LIE, I'd want to distance myself from the concept as much as possible. Like, it'd be like if someone finally proved, once and for all, that God didn't exist- I can guarentee you that you'd have a LOT of Christian fundies dressing loosley and doing things they always saw others doing but never wanted to do, simply because now they CAN. It's a very realistic concept, if you think about it. -Duo
Anya 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 I think the shorts are overkill, but yeah it makes a lot of sense. I really like Yuna's voice actress. She does a good job of showing how Yuna is having lots of fun and goofing off, yet is still the same old shy and reserved Yunie. I am on Chapter 3 now and really into it. It's so cool. I had Yuna and Rikku both master the White Mage job. Paine learned the important stuff for the Alchemist job so that she could switch to it if she needed to heal too. I usually have Yuna either be a White Mage and do Pray all the time or a Gunner. Rikku is usually a thief or a White Mage(if Yuna isn't). She also has some black magic learned, but I like never use that job. Paine is almost always a warrior, though I just got Dark Knight and switched her to it for the time being. Paine is almost always a warrior, though I just got Dark Knight and switched her to it for the time being. That's how I maxxed out Yuna's white mage ability. I just klept praying every turn and she kept racking up AP's. Plus since most of her abilities don't take a ton of AP's, she learned everything quickly. I'm right near the end of chapter 2, I'm glad another dressphere is coming. I'm waiting to put Paine in the Samurai outfit just to see how she does. However, this goddamn publicity campaign for the Calm Lands area is slowing me down. Yes I know I don't HAVE to do it but...must..do...everything. On another note, what grids are you using for everyone? Trying to figure out how to make sure everyone can get to their best outfits but still able to get to thier personal one if neccessary. For me, it's: Yuna = Mage, Gunner, Gun Mage Rikku = Gun Mage, THIEF, Black Mage Paine = Warrior, occassional thief or black mage Still gotta diversify so they are well rounded. Anya 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Paine uses the Bum Rush grid. It gives a lot of Strength bonuses. Rikku and Yuna use Protection of Halo, which give out defense and magic def bonuses.

Guest Kamui Report post Posted November 23, 2003 I don't like virtual flesh- I like FFX, and I like FFX-2. And once again, while I'm not denying there's marketing reasons to it, IT STILL MAKES SENSE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE STORY. It really, really seems like all of you played through FFX (or maybe didn't even do that), looked at pictures of what she looked like in FFX and what she looks like now in FFX-2, and then came up with their little conclusion. Without even playing FFX-2, mind you. As Sakura said, she's still very much the same character. If you, you know, PLAYED FFX-2 before coming to your retarded conclusions, you might understand that. But hey, why play it when we can irrationally bash it instead, right? -Duo

The response about virtual flesh was not directed about anyone in this thread, and whether or not it makes sense into the story is completely irrelevant. The point is that regardless of the story its used to shift more copies because of fan service, a point which you already agree on.

Guest Kamui Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Duo's sad because all the anime has deprived him of the ability to larf I can laugh just fine, but I don't see why there's any point to laughing when people are mocking something I enjoy. And Renegade, I disagree. They are mocking the game in general, not just the fact that there's fanservice there. I'm perfectly allowed to defend the fact that Yuna's change of clothes make perfect sense in the context of the story, because they do. It's not just a marketing techinque that makes absolutley no sense, as some are suggesting. -Duo

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 ...wait, I'm talking about a videogame character here, what the hell am I doing... Getting emotionally involved with 'game' characters doesn't seem that weird. Especially considering FFX.. But, while I do agree with the argument of the charas enjoying their freedom...why must the english translations be so...corny? 'Potshot'? 'Bum Rush'? Um....
