So, I react negatively when people do something stupid. There's billions of us.

 

Never done it, but I fail to see why this is on the list. It's just something people do with their free time. It's not like they go out into random areas dressed like that- you see, there's these things called anime conventions where they set apart time for cosplayers to show off their outfits. It's like making fun of someone for going to a football game dressed in a football jersey.

 

Okay, but look. You know how Trekkies can be embarassing to someone who likes Star Trek but doesn't take it that seriously? Okay, now that's not a huge problem because most of them are only wearing their Vulcan ears and StarFleet outfits at the conventions. Anime elitests go on like this ALL THE TIME.

 

My girlfriend loves yaoi. Do I care? No. It's just another sexual fetish. Some people have them. Yay for them. Again, why should you care?

 

Personally, because they go on about it incessantly. Well, not all of them. Again, it's not that there's bad seeds, because every "community" (using that word loosely) has them, it's just that there's SO MANY.

No, worship. You know when you put down the Xbox in the other thread and I asked what that was about? It was partially passing interest in why you didn't like it since it has a decent library and the best online plan going according to everyone but the dirt poor, but because I've seen blind Japan worshippers who hate the Xbox simply because the Japanese don't like the Xbox for whatever reason. Because it doesn't agree with them over there, it must be bad. Some of these guys go further and declare it "their" industry. Atari what?

 

The idolism is pretentiousness and the sense of entitlement is amazing among those who consider themselves the elite. For every person who says they want to hear a show in English because they don't want to sit and read all the dialogue, there's several people who take this stuff WAY too seriously insulting that person's intillect, telling them that they don't understand art, etc. These people KEEP the others from getting interested.

Then, in certain threads, we get Duo, fanboy (unless you're a girl, but fanboyism knowns no gender anyway) who declares quirky fanboy bait such as naked magical girl transformation sequences to be culture. Now, if Duo pushed that SUGOI #$*!!!~^____^~@*$$* personality off a metaphorical cliff and posted as regular Duo, a person that liked video games, there would be less backlash and consternation from the wrestling crowd at TSM, a crowd which really doesn't crossover into the anime crowd very well.

I was referring to Duo and Angleslayer. Although it was really just Duo who was on my case for fighting with her. Angleslayer is an innocent bystander.

 

And I can't get a Stoops autograph. Like the man is ever seen around campus...he'd get mobbed. I did run into Barry Switzer one time though. Then again he owns a restraunt "Switzer's Chicken Ranch" up the road here....but I think it's closed down....they kept running out of chicken...yeah I know...it's weird.

-Saying it has a "decent library" DEPENDS ON YOUR OPINION. I gave perfectly good reasons for why I don't like the system- I said that I don't like the genres it excells in. If you like FPSes and sports game, the X-Box is a perfectly fine system. But I don't. It has a "decent library" if you like the kind of games that are being put on the system. That's SUBJECTIVE.

 

-"Having a good online plan" doesn't make the system better. I don't care what the online functionality is- I care if the games are good. Anything else is on the side.

 

I don't like the system because I don't like the genres it excells in. Nothing more, nothing less. The fact that the Japanese ALSO don't like it would make sense, since I tend to like the same types of genres that Japanese games like (RPGs, fighting games). It's not that the majority of Japanese gamers hate it for "whatever reason", it's simply because the genres that are popular over there aren't well-represented on the X-Box. Pretty simple, really.

Do I watch my shows subtitled? Yes.

 

Do I care if you want to watch your shows dubbed? Not a bit.

 

Hell, there's even some shows where I prefer the dub (not many, but they're there- I really liked the dubs for Gundam Wing and Cowboy Bebop, for instance. Bandai in general seems to be the best when it comes to dubs).

 

I know there's anime elitists that act like what you're describing, and that's part of my point- I DON'T CONSIDER MYSELF AN ELITIST.

Well I've seen Dan Cody and Keshaun Jones around campus once. The problem is that most of the football players are Juniors and Seniors so they only stay in one building completing there major coursework. And the Freshmen and Sophmores that are on the team usually go to class and class only. Although I have had a few no name ones in my classes...they're gigantic and black. It's kind of scary. They're usually bigger than me. Although everyone says "Why don't you play football!? You'd make a great linebacker!" "I've never played before..." "To bad...if you'd played in High School you'd probably have a guranteed spot on our team!"

Yeah, it's not like I post randomly about anime in these threads. Angelslayer turned my posts defending X-2 (which, by the way, is a VIDEOGAME) into me being an "anime elitist", which is apparently how this debate got started. /shrug

 

The main reason I'm on here all night is because I let my g/f borrow my rented copy of X-2 for the night, so now I'm bored and wanting it back. I wish I had it still, actually- I hadn't gotten much time to play it all weekend due to various different things, and I'm still only at the post-mission 2 side quests (just got Paine's special dressphere thing in those crystal forests- too lazy to look up the actual names). So yeah, I'm just bored.

 

Sakura, how is the game so far for you? Has the story started to pick up yet?

during my high school days I didn't enjoy the gym classes that had volleyball and dumb shit like that...since my cousin was a cheerleader and loved by the football team (they all wanted her) I got to play with the football team since their practices coincided with my gym classes. Well in 9th grade I could rip and swim past Senior offensive line-men...I could have been a major force in high school football but I skipped school and had shitty grades...by the time I got my act together it was too late. I'm going to try and get back into shape and make the college team when these medical problems of mine are squared. I'll be a 22 year old freshman but I don't see becoming a pro so who cares?

 

Have the no name players that you have class with get me those autographs then...they can ask for them when they deliver the cups of gatorade to the stars hehe

Sakura, how is the game so far for you? Has the story started to pick up yet?

Yeah, it started to pick up at the end of Chapter 2 when a new threat to Spira was discovered. It's still not really an epic adventure though. I'm not sure what to think about this non-linear mission based stuff. It's new and fresh, but I'm kinda disappointed it's not a big dramatic epic like other FFs.

Duo seems to be under the impression I'm attacking him only instead of the people he is being associated with.

 

Also, saying this whole forum is a game forum is like saying this is a political forum or food forum or computer help forum. This is simply a video game subforum that exists because so many gaming topics appeared in General Chat. The vast majority of it's visitors come here for the wrestling, stay for the game chat assuming they're into that.

 

Now, if you want a crowd where the subjects of cosplay, yaoi, anime, fan service, et al aren't going to make everyone look at you like you're crazy, then you'd want a board that specializes in that kind of thing first and foremost.

 

To a crowd that's used to guys delivering usually-painful blows to the head and neck, locking in submissions, and doing bumps that may be felt for months, years, or even a life time..... Yeah, FFX-2 looks a little girly in comparison. There's no reason to act shocked when people here think it or other Square designs are a little too effeminate for comfort.
