Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted November 23, 2003 I heard that the company won some sort of settlement where they can no longer use the WWF Scratch/Attitude logo, but they don't have to blur it out on archived video footage. Any truth to this, because that would rule for future DVD releases.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 They can't use the scratch logo. They can use the logos before it. They are currently appealing the ruling.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Didn't WWFUND give WWFEDERATION a chance to settle it by just stoping the use of the scratch logo? I still think WWFEDERATION should have just gotten a new logo. It needed a fresh change anyways.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 They had a deal with the World Wildlife Fund where they would restrict the amount of advertising and promotion of their product in the UK. Since the WWFund had the initials first, the WWFederation had it on loan. The WWFed broke the rules by overstepping their boundaries and the WWFund sued them and put an injuction on the WWFed from using the the scratch logo. I can only assume that they made a deal in say, 1998, which allowed the WWFedaration to keep the name and logo (since they changed it). The deal they had before that and all the property and footage associated with it is fine because that deal was never broken. That is why the WWE can use it today. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 The WWE can probably buy their way out of this (that is to say, letting the scratch logo in their videos). It would take a 10 million dollar donation, though. Which is fine, cause that's what Vince and Linda made this year anyways
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 23, 2003 and they could make back that 10 million dollars rather quickly with the sales the DVD's will make (if Flair's DVD are any indication)
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 (edited) Yeah, but DVD sales aren't nearly as infuriating as Vince screwing all of his wrestlers by double dipping. I just find it funny that Vince gets paid as the president, as a shareholder, and as a performer... then sometimes gets a bonus on top of that... meanwhile, wrestlers have to pay all their road expenses and get shoved off the card because Vince wants to rassle. Hmm, did I say DOUBLE dip? Edited November 23, 2003 by RavishingRickRudo

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 You had to ride a horse to school? In a Manner of speaking... No no no, it's from a Lewis Black comedy special where he says he's at an IHOP and hears a woman just say that line to nobody in particular, and it drives Lewis nuts trying to comprehend the directionless non-sequitur of a statement. Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I'm almost positive that the rule only does apply to Europe. But it would be dumb to have the WWE be called WWF in the US and WWE in Europe. I guess they also figure that it isn't worth the effort to produce two different versions of every DVD, and maybe they are worried that the Wildlife Federation will get upset with using the scratch in the US as well.
