res37618 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 OK, with all the fuss over blurring the WWF Scratch Logo and so forth, do you think that Vince and Co. will go through the trouble of issuing a WrestleMania DVD Box Set? I would figure that with WM XX coming up, it would soon be the perfect time to release the WM's on DVD. What I wouldn't give to have the WrestleManias in all their perfect VQ glory . . . . Will it happen? Would you buy it? Let's hear your thoughts . . . .
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 24, 2003 if they do Best of WM Box Sets they need to do it by every 5 WMs. If they release one every 2 years after this year they'll be able to profit off it nicely and keep'em rolling for awhile
res37618 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I didn't think about that, but that's a really good point. 15-19 are already on DVD, so they wouldn't have to do them. Plus, 15-18 are the only ones with the scratch logo, so no need to redo them . . . .
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Screw that just make some 3 DVD disc sets with the best of theme including complete matches and the build up leading to the matches. Not every match deserves to be on DVD.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Didn't most people share their thoughts on the possibility of this set the first few times someone made a thread for it? And since they've already released the calendar of upcoming DVD releases to take us into the first couple months of the New Year and there's no sort of thing like this, you can forget it, at least for this year. Had it even been a possibility, they would've had it out by no, in time for the Holidays.

Not every match deserves to be on DVD. I'd rather they put the whole show on DVD than trust them to decide what the "best" matches are. They can put the build for the big matches on as extras. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I'd rather have a set with all the Royal Rumble matches on them.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 The Wrestlemania footage could be used on individual wrestler theme DVDs.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Screw that just make some 3 DVD disc sets with the best of theme including complete matches and the build up leading to the matches. Not every match deserves to be on DVD. You'd get like 10-12matches most on a 3 Disc set because you know Vince would include other stuff WM 1: Bodyslam Challenge, Hogan & Mr. T vs Piper and Orndorf WM 2: Mr. T vs Piper in the boxing match, 20 man Battle Royal (wrestlers and football players), Tag Title match of The Dream Team vs. The Bulldogs, Hogan vs. King Kong in the cage WM 3: Bulldogs & Santana vs Hart Foundation & Dan Davis, Savage/Steamboat IC Match, Hogan and Andre WM 4: Hogan/Andre, Strike Force vs. Demolition, Dibiase vs Savage in the finals for the World Title WM 5: Hennig vs. The Blue Blazer, Brain Busters vs Strike Force, Warrior vs Rude, and last but not least Hogan vs Savage Now I know not all of those are great matches but you have to remember they will include matches with celebrities, pro athletes from other sports, anything that has a major Hall of Famer in it, and anything that was the focus point of a major storyline. I didn't include stuff like the Piper's Pit segments or celebs interviewing wrestlers but you know they would be there too. Considering times they could probably get all that on a 4 Disc set, sell it off for $80-90 and we would all pick it up. I know I would That of course is an example of doing the every 5 WM system

Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I dont think so. I think that this just means that they are already on the market and people have them.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 24, 2003 How many more DVDs/VHS tape do we need devoted to the same wrestlers? I'd say none...personally I prefer my idea over yours razaz
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I never liked the celebrities at Wrestlemania so I would exclude the footage from my collections. As Joe Dirte said "It's not what you like.....it's what the consumer likes"
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I never liked the celebrities at Wrestlemania so I would exclude the footage from my collections. As Joe Dirte said "It's not what you like.....it's what the consumer likes" Well the celebrity stuff would mostly be Easter Eggs anyways. Only exception being Bob Euker interviewing Andre because even you have to admit that was gold. Most of the Taker, Austin matches are already on DVD though and since Hogan owns the rights to his wrestling persona he would be entitled to royalties by Vince if Vince were to release something like that...since they're on the outs Hogan would demand big money or just say no to the idea. Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Doesn't WWE have to pay royalties to any wrestler featured on their DVDs? I know that is how it works in music (meaning that if there is a guest appearance on a live cd, that artist gets royalties).
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Vince is like the RIAA he pays the wrestlers a small fee for their life work.

I'm pretty sure it depends on if Vince owns the rights to the gimmik/persona I know Hogan gets royalties due to him owning the rites to Hulk Hogan Ed Leslie doesn't get shit for Brutus Beefcake stuff because Vince owns the rites to it
Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I'm not sure your right on that, cause what you are saying is that if WWE wanted to release a Sting DVD, Sting would get absolutly nothing from that deal. Since Sting owns the right to the gimmick Sting, wouldn't that be a trademark infraction? And if so, then he would therefore recieve royalties from the Flair dvd since he is featured on it. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Must have WM 1 - 14 on DVD...
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 They could show Sting matches; they just couldn't use his name or likeness to market the DVD.
Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Ok, one more question then. How come Jessie Ventura sued Vince for not getting his proper royalties from shows that he announced?
