WWE controversy, Trish on OTR and Flair overseas

Recommended Posts

- The Boise State Women's Center Advisory Board is very upset over WWE RAW being held at the Boise State Pavilion tonight. Melissa Wintrow of the Center said the following:

“I would challenge people to examine why they find it ‘entertaining’ to see women disrobed, attacked and figuratively raped in the middle of a cheering crowd.”

The board will be showing a movie called Wrestling With Manhood today at 3:30. The movie is set out to "show how so-called 'entertainment' is related to homophobia, sexual assault and relationship violence. They further argue that to not engage with wrestling in a serious manner allows cynical promoters of violence and sexism an uncontested role in the process by which boys become 'men'."

- Navajo Warrior, Hollywood Yates, Kyra and Jack Bull are all set to be extras and/or work dark matches at the WWE tapings tonight and tomorrow.

- Trish Stratus is set to be on TSN's Off The Record on 12/2.

- Sable & Torrie Wilson have been pulled from WWE's Smackdown overseas tours in December. They will be replaced by Ric Flair.

I don't know what the feminists are so upset about. Nothing the women have done as of late have been all that offensive or anything. It would be hard to make an argument about Vince raping Sable too.

Maybe they are still upset about the time Vince made Trish bark like a dog and disrobe in the ring. If so, get over it... that was over two years ago.

Funny, because I remember seeing Chyna kicking the shit out of every other guy on the roster not too long ago...I remember the women being treated just as fairly in the ring as men (at least the ones who can work) during inter-gender matches...and I also remember that the only time a woman was "raped" in any sense was during a stupid skit where the "woman" was really a doll in a coffin, and HHH was dressed up as Kane...

I also remember back when people would actually watch the shows objectively and then criticize...oh, wait, that's never happened...

I got sick and tired of these activist groups 5 years ago. Don't try to blame your horrible parenting/teaching skills on television, you fucking nazis.

Ric Flair on a Smackdown tour?

Yeah, it's probably just to help promote his new DVD, as someone already mentioned.

Could you even ask for a better change in lineup?

Only if they replaced the two divas with two good workers, instead of just one.

*applause*

I don't get why some of you were upset about this--there was quite a bit of backlash about Austin's bullshit here.

*refrains from manboob joke*

Speaking of which, those two likely stirred up a good deal of anger. I doubt the BSWCAB knows there's a split roster, but the offending content has been on both shows.

Sic' em, gals!! Give Vince hell!

The WWE is completely deserving of this, I don't see how it's the groups "fault". Hell, Vince McMahon and his obsession with sticking his tongue down all of his female employees throat alone is worth an outrage from a feminist organization.

Plus...well, if anyone wants I can list some of the many, many situations on WWE TV that they'd find objectionable. Not surprisingly, MANY of them feature Torrie.

The group does have a point. Girls "rape" each other all the time in the bra and panty matches and everyone cheers for it. Part of the cheers for those matches is the thrill of seeing one woman rip off another woman's clothes without their consent.

Of course, there's always the story of Stacy getting stunned for not drinking beer and then by next week she learns her lesson and does what she's suppose to do.

Just like a good bitch should. :P
