Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted November 26, 2003 I would just like to say that I really, really, REALLY miss this show. I wish Vince would just give Uncle Eric a shitload of $$ and 1/2 of his roster and send him off to get a cable television deal.

geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 I don't know how many times I have said this but Vince doesn't own Nitro. Nitro was a TNT concept. They also had wednesday night nitro that showed westerns.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 Bischoff proved he could run an amazing show...and proved just as well he could ruin one. This is the smark in me, but I'd rather ECW restart with Paul E, a chunk of the roster, and a few big names.

How about a company with Bischoff, Heyman AND Jim Cornette running it, with one non-McMahon or McMahon supporter as an overseer for all three? What's Jim Crockett doing nowadays? Tony149 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 What's Jim Crockett doing nowadays? I'm pretty sure Crockett is dead. Don't take my word on it. Jim Crockett Sr. has been long dead, 2003 marks the 30th anniversary of his death I believe. I've read Crockett Jr. lives in Dallas, TX and runs a car dealership; brother David is alive as well. I've always wonder how Crockett's NWA would of done if they had the machine Vince did.

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 Maybe he was referring to Jim Crockett Jr. in that post up there. Yes, I was. I know Jr.'s still alive because he was on Confidential recently, talking about the Flair Plane Crash incident.
Guest Mad the Swine Report post Posted November 27, 2003 David Crockett was in the plane crash with Flair. He's the one that was on Confidential. But just to confuse you all, Jim Jr. was supposed to be on that flight. He cancelled flying with them as he had the flu. And yes, Jimmy's still alive and living in Texas. Money management, especially at the end of JCP was not Jim Jr.'s forte. His purchase of a couple of jets for company use is just one example. More would be his repeated attempts to run shows in the western U.S. The travel costs were incredible and the shows did not draw well at all. Then, he spent a lot of money on both Central States and Bill Watts' UWF (which was on the verge of bankruptcy anyway). Then, add that McMahon pulled an ultimatum with the PPV companies and demanded that they only show one wrestling show that Thanksgiving. With Vince's incredible sucesses, every company except five small ones carried Survivor Series, instead of Starrcade.

DO YOU PEOPLE NOT REALIZE THOSE FOUR COULDN'T KEEP THE COMPANY AFLOAT FOR MORE THEN 6 YEARS? McMahon has kept WWE alive for 20+ years... WCW was loosing some money, but it was not at the point that it was bad enough to close the company. The biggest reason why they wanted to sell WCW off was because of the AOL/Time Warner merger and they were selling off parts of the Time Warner conglomerate left and right. Even though the Turner networks head cancelled WCW because he wanted to get away from wrestling, wrestling was still big enough in early 2001 that another network propably would have picked up WCW programming. Steviekick 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 Yeah, but most media companies operate under an assload of debt. WCW programming did do decent ratings for cable, but I remember reading that none of the network advertizing revenue was used to financially support WCW...all their incoming came from ticket sales/PPV. If they were getting an advertising share it would have definitely made that number much smaller.
