LSU/USC in New Orleans Now.. when it comes to bowls, which team would be bigger for KSU to play and beat, Michigan or Florida State? LSU/USC in New Orleans Now.. when it comes to bowls, which team would be bigger for KSU to play and beat, Michigan or Florida State? (Maybe if KSU beats either, they can get some real teams to try and come to Manhattan) KSU will be in the Fiesta Bowl and probably play Florida State because the Orange wants Miami-Ohio State. As for KSU's problems with scheduling teams, start by expanding the capacity to your stadium. They seat like 46,000 there while teams like LSU, Tennessee, Michigan, Ohio State, etc. can fit 90,000+ in their stadiums. If K-State wants to play teams like that, they need to go on the road. (Maybe if KSU beats either, they can get some real teams to try and come to Manhattan) I doubt they'll get either. KSU will go to the Fiesta Bowl as the Big 12 champion, and will probably play either Ohio State, Tennessee or Georgia. Michigan is locked into the Rose Bowl, and FSU the Orange. EDIT: Hmmm...I thought Orange was Big East vs. ACC. They're only committed to one or the other. Although I can't see why they wouldn't want Miami-Florida State. Guest Just J Report post Posted December 7, 2003 If Oklahoma goes to the Championship then the BCS should be thrown out the window. Well, it should anyway, but that would just really prove it.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 I am still convinced that OU will go to the National Championship. There ranking is so much higher than everyone else's that they will not drop below 8 points which is where LSU is sitting right now. OU could still go to the National Championship and still be National Champions. Who do I want to see it against? Well USC of course. But I am looking at this logically and I really see no way that the BCS can rank OU at #3. The complete dominance from there season proves they deserve to be in the National Championship. 1 game where they play shitty. Yes it was a big game but they still played shitty in one game. Let's look at this scenario. OU goes to the Sugar Bowl. OU DOMINATES there opponent. Then what will you have to say? Will you still say that OU sucks? Huh? Despite the fact they just dominated in the national championship? Oh and about tonight.......*cries*............*cries*..........*hangs self*
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 If we get OSU/Miami, LSU/USC and Florida State goes to Pasadena, would they dare an OU/KSU rematch?
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 I still don't see how you are saying Oklahoma doesn't deserve to be in the national championship. They dominated the season. They messed up. Plain and simple they messed up. Look at the way they played during the season and look at the way they played tonight. There was a HUGE difference in the way they played. And they have beaten a team that is better than K-State(texas) and actually dominated that team. There season dominance and then a huge screwup at the end shouldn't disqualify them. Hey USC and LSU messed up over the season to. OU didn't mess up during the season. They messed up in the end. But like I said...compare the way they played over the season to the way they played tonight. It's like a different team. They deserve to be in the National Championship. The season proved it. Swift Terror 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 Man, how bad does Michigan fan feel about now... 2 unforgiveable losses, they should definitely be in the championship with the team they have, but they blew it. I'm no Big XII fan, but Oklahoma's 1 bad game does not mean they are overrated, for crissakes. Yes, it was a pitiful choke job, but they still dominated their other games like none of the other 1 loss teams. And how about Miami of Ohio's quarterback--awesome. They've had one helluva of a fucking year, too bad they are sitting unnoticed in the MAC.

They're going to move up at least one in poll average, and will move up a bit in schedule strength as well. OU will likely drop two in poll average, and will also have a point added on for the loss. The computers will likely decide the story.
teke184 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 LSU's BCS number will shrink rapidly because of this. Moving to #2 in the polls will move them down to 7. Moving up in the computers will move them down to probably 6.5. Improving in Strength of Schedule will move them up more. Oklahoma's numbers will be NO lower than a 5, and that's only if they stay #1 in all computers and move to only #3 in both polls. (3 for polls, 1 for losses, 1 for computers, SOS and quality win over Texas cancel each other out.) Once they start losing computers, LSU and USC start improving dramatically while OU falls. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 Who is saying OU sucks? They had a great season. They are probably a great team. But what does that have to do with deserving a spot in the title game? Are they supposed to be given a top 2 slot just because they have been so overhyped this season? And LSU might be at 8 points in the BCS now, but why are you failing to grasp the idea that if OU falls (gains points) other teams are going to rise (lose points). For every spot lost in the polls and every spot lost in the computer someone is going to be moving up into that spot. So just because LSU has 8 points now doesn't mean they will have 8 points this time tomorrow.
Bored 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 THIS JUST IN! Brad Edwards on ESPN just said it will likely be Oklahoma vs. LSU and will be cemented if Boise State beats Hawaii, on ESPN2 right now. USC...YOUR #1 in the country in tommorrow's AP and Coaches poll will not be playing in the "National Championship Game". YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Ding dong the BCS is dead. Yes but I'm saying that I doubt that LSU can gain enough points to move above what OU will have in the poll. OK! Take this scenario. OU moves to #2 in the BCS and USC moves to #1. They play the championship. OU wins. Will everyone be satisfied that they went in not as #1? That's what I seem to be seeing as the problem here. They don't deserve to be #1. So what is they're #2 and win? Then what? Will people still bitch? And Swift Terror. At least you have a head on your shoulders. Jeez...someone with some common sense on this. People wanted to see OU lose so badly that the moment they fall in ONE GAME people are all over them forgetting that the teams they are crying to play in the championship have lost before and haven't dominated there opponents like OU. OU deserves to be in the National Championship. Be it 1 or 2. They deserve to be there. Plain and simple. And if they win the national championship. Good enough for me. That's all I need to say they were the best this season.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 Oh and btw...I'm perfectly content if OU shares the national title with USC. USC deserves it but so does OU. I'd be perfectly content if they were co-champions. Then they could possibley settle the score next year. Oh and why are the human voters suddenly better than the BCS? Doesn't the BCS follow a formula while the humans are prone to bias?

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 Well on the bright side this is the final nail in the coffin for the BCS. HELLO PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!! The thing is that they say that the bowls win more money than a playoff would. Here's what you do. Name the playoff games as a bowl OR just send the losers in the playoffs to bowl games. That way you still have bowls but you still have a decided way to determine the best.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted December 7, 2003 My idea is have all your bowl games as usual and just have the BCS bowls kick off an 8 team tournament. So even more money would be made.

Doesn't the BCS follow a formula while the humans are prone to bias? As long as the BCS includes factors out of a team's control, like polls and schedule strength, it loses its credibility. Boise State has one loss and has played as well as any team in the country, but they don't get any consideration because they play in the WAC and don't play anyone big on the schedule. Well you know what? They never will, because they're Boise State and big teams don't want to dirty their hands with a good mid-major (same as with college basketball). Teams from the MAC and C-USA and the WAC will NEVER get the chance to play for the national title, because their schedule will never be good enough. THAT'S what sucks about the BCS. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 The computers are worse than the polls, because the computers just come up with random formulas for their rankings. At least the people voting in polls usually know what they are talking about. The only way a computer works is if someone found the magic formula, and if that is the case then there are 6 other worthless computers that are being entered into the mix. Yeah, I was actually referring more to the computer polls than to the human polls. Human polls are almost always more accurate than the computers. Just have an 8-team playoff and be done with it. I'd rather argue about who's number 8 than who's number 2.

I will never agree with only the polls being used after voters intentionally screwed Michigan to give Nebraska a piece of the National Title. Remember undefeated Michigan was moved down to 8th by several so Nebraska could gain enough ground to have a piece.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 Well like I said..if OU wins the national title I will be content. But there's always a catch...just like in 2000. But I hope USC goes to the national title game. And I hope OU beats them soundly. Then everyone will shut up and quit saying OU isn't the best team this season. The numbers from the season and from the championship will back them up. The one I am crying for though is Jason fucking White. I feel so sorry for that guy. This is the year that he finally gets to play. He's injured the past 2 years. He comes out this year and fucking shows the country he's the best quarterback. He just fucking played his heart out and he has the best season he can. He carries the entire fucking team on his back this year...and then 1 fucking game. 1 fucking game where they mess up destroys Jason's perfect season. 1 game ruins his Heisman chances and his hopes of a national title. I feel so sorry for him. To say you don't feel for the guy...well you have no heart.

Swift Terror 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 ...I hope USC makes sure to run up the score on Michigan and secure their half of the national title, just to make a complete mockery of the BCS. Then you do not know much about Michigan. I do not like Michigan as they are a hated rival, but I have respect for their program. I know their program and they have one HELL of a team. If USC were to play Michigan, USC will NOT win easily, if at all. But I agree about making a mockery of the BCS--I LOVE this controversy. The BSC is nice when you have only 2 undefeated teams, but now with more than two 1 loss teams and a couple of good 2 loss teams, the whole thing blows the fuck up. I love it, and I'm going to love watching the fury bust loose for the next few weeks over this.
