The story would have progressed to him trying to prove himself to her, but her being skeptical and cynical.  Finally, after he wrestles as a tweener for a month or so, he finally does something to prove himself to her and goes full on face.

Then as soon as Trish believes him again, and he takes her for a bone ride...he revels that he wont the bet, tosses her to the curb, and that's that. :D

LMAO.

The sad part about all of it is, I think that Christian and Jericho should be betting on which date is ACTUALLY a transvestite and doesn't just look like one. It's a toss up, really.

Ok, but then how does Trish get her revenge, or who comes along to get with Trish after Jericho?

You seem to forget that in these scenarios Trish is the face, and the face always comes out on top. You can't just bang Trish, dump her and move on. It doesn't work like that.

That's the problem. The aftermath. Which is why Jericho should've got with Trish. Hopefully, he still will in a "She's All That" type why that someone suggested earlier.

I'm guessing that you're right there with the "She's All That" scenario. The funny thing is, though, I can see Christian going face more than I can see Jericho. Christian's been fighting off Matt Hardy at every turn.. this can't all be for nothing.

Jericho would help the company more though. Christian turning face would just be another random midcard face like Rob Van Dam, The Hurricane, Tommy Dreamer, etc.

WWE needs main event faces, and this wouldn't throw Christian into the main....

Shouldn't angles be used to set up matches?

What possible match(es) can come from this?

Now way can they pit the Chrises against the ladies in any satisfactory way.

If they bring in some random face(s) to defend the honour of the ladies, it'll come off heavy-handed, since no other principles have been involved in this love angle other than Matt Hardy.

This was bad news from the start. It did nothing to start or further any feuds. All it did was allow the writers to "swerve" the viewers with needless backstage vignettes and soap opera pap.

Garbage in, garbage out.

Stop the talk that Jericho and Trish should be together, it would suck, and wouldn't work.

I have a very weird feeling that all of this could mean the eventual returns of Jeff Hardy, Edge, and some other wrestler to get with Trish.

Well, I think you're wrong. Your opinion is not any more valid than mine.

The way I'm looking at it, Raw needs another top babyface. Chris Jericho could fill that void. The women's division needs more credibility. This could help remedy that.

To me, it's a win/win situation.

However, if Trish & Jericho don't get together, we have to worry about the aftermath. Whom is going to defend Trish? It could turn out to be decent, but it could turn out to suck too (Jeff Hardy going over Chris Jericho on PPV).

How could a relationship between Jericho and Stratus lend credibility to the women's division? Trish is already the most marketable of the wrestling women. How can her playing Jericho's girlfriend do anything to give the other women a boost?

The only way to give the women's division more credibility is to promote them as competent athletes in their own right and let them wrestle. Plain and simple. Any kind of play between the men and women will only reinforce the unwritten axiom that women wrestlers are inferior to the men, and are therefore not as worthy of the audience's attention.

Posted

Because Jericho would be a main event babyface, whom had a relationship with a female wrestler whom was a contender in the female division.

Credibility by association.

Who says the women aren't as good as the men? It just needs booked correctly. Chyna is a former IC champ, but everyone just shit over that. So, don't bring that talk to me.

Like I said before, Trish is arguably the most recognizable and marketable of the RAW divas. She probably gets more pops from the crowd than any of the other women (and a lot of the men). The fans aren't going to cheer for her more simply because she's dating Jericho. By that account, Test should be over like gangbusters, if the pops for Stacy are any indication. But it doesn't work that way.

And how does that "rub" from Jericho transfer to the other women? Jericho can't date all of them. ;)

As for the comparisons between the genders, personally I think the women are far more entertaining than some of the men, but public perception has always been that women wrestlers are a "sideshow attraction" and the men wrestlers are the "main event". Even though they've made a lot of strides to promote the legitimacy of the women's division, it will take better booking, more match time, and an announce team that focuses on the athleticism and not the sensuality of the ladies to fight the legacy of inequality that has ingrained itself in the sport's history.

And forget that Chyna shit. She was a terrible worker. She was only pushed because she was a sideshow attraction.

Ugh.

Jericho wouldn't be the cause for his reactions, the fans would cheer for tits.

Trish would be made to look like of fool, being manhandled all the time by men, making the women's division look like shit loosing all credibility.

This isn't rocket science.

I'll have to admit that I didn't watch enough Raw to know exactly how Jericho was acting when laughing about the bet w/X, but the first thing that I thought of when I read this thread was what chaosrage said: that Jericho will have decided that even though it started as a bet, he really does dig Trish.

Either that, or he already knows he likes her, and he just wanted to act like a hotshot in front of Christian. He didn't think she would overhear..... even though there was a camera man right in front of them.

The story would have progressed to him trying to prove himself to her, but her being skeptical and cynical.  Finally, after he wrestles as a tweener for a month or so, he finally does something to prove himself to her and goes full on face.  Ultimately, though, he ends up deciding that he prefers being a heel and turns on her again.  (but the turn from heel-to-tweener-to-face takes a few months, and then the eventual heel re-turn wouldn't be until mid-next year ... none of this change back and forth in a week or two bullshit)

I don't even see why Jericho has to turn at all. Why can't they keep Jericho as a heel and Trish as a face and have them still be in love? They would just have to try to cope with each other's personality that they don't like. Or Jericho could turn Trish heel some kind of way. There's a lot of possibilities left.

I like the idea of Chris being a heel and Trish remaining a face. I also would like to see Trish turn heel by turning on Lita. Lita can bad mouth X and Chris, and then Trish can get pissed and turn on her, brutally.

I'm not saying the fans would cheer for Trish more because she's with Jericho. I'm saying it could help add more emotion, drama & credibility to her matches because people would care about her more. Why would they care about her more? Simple, she would get even more exposure and be looked at differently because she would be a major player. The fans would have a reason to get behind her other than "OMG SHE"S HOTT"

It would benefit the other women. It would make the crowd care more about the matches. Something that the women's division desperately needs.

If they were going to do this in the first place, they should've just let Mattitude stay a face when he arrived.

Posted

I think they should have kept the angle going for another couple of months, to the point where both Jericho and Christian are fucking Lita and Trish on a regular basis. Things are looking cozy until one day, a face, say the Hurricane catches Jericho and Christian getting ready to "close the deal" and end the bet. He informs the girls but they don't believe him. They continue to see Jericho and Christian, until one day, Vitamin C purposely lets Lita and Trish catch them with other girls. One backstage heel promo later we have Vitamin C over as huge heels. It's also revealed that Matt Hardy was in on it too, as Christian helped broker his deal to RAW to help him with Lita. The girls try to get fiesty in a fit of anger and they are beaten down until Hurricane or whoever saves them.

This puts Hurricane over as more of a face and they can have him and some other faces feud with X/Jericho/Hardy.

Yeah, I thought the Trish crying thing went a little long. She should have just dropped the shirt and ran away, or, when the camera panned to outside the lockerroom doorway, there was the jersy Trish was going to give Jericho laying on the floor.

Then there could have been the whole mystery of "did she or didn't she over hear them?"

She was probably numb from finding out.

And on the whole cameraman being right there:

It's been established that no one actually watches RAW (ie: No one ever notices someone is scheming against them) and thus the cameraman doesn't really exist.

Funny, I always thought that the cameramen were trained ninjas, hence why no one saw them recording things like this or Gowen and Sable's make-out session...

You know. Isn't it kind of scary how RavishingRickRudo called that this was EXACTLY how this angle was going to play out more or less?

1. It was blantantly obvious this was going to happen.

2. Focus groups have been telling Vince his audience is now beginning to include females ages 12-24.

3. This is the most cliche, over-done storyline in TV and movie history. Vince has long since become just a parrot, repeating every stupid thing he sees.
