Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted December 3, 2003 (edited) Maybe I've been playing too much HCTP... but I like how most Smackdows stars have two finishers. Angle with the Slam and the Anklelock... Benoit with the Crossface and the Flying Headbutt... and I hope Lesnar uses this new submission more with the F5... Not to start a fight, but has Benoit beaten anyone in WWE with the diving headbutt in the last year? I can't remember. I think of it as a tranistion move to the crossface. Wow. The Short term memory on you... 3 weeks ago he won via Head Dive. Over a hoss. I'm betting it was Morgan or maybe A-Train or TBS. I can't remember which one. I'll just check the archives for results because I don't even remember the show. And I checked the SD's from 3 and 4 wks ago, and Benoit never pinned anyone on either of them, so it must've bene further back. Edit: Looknig back even further, he still never pinned anyone with the headbutt, but he did make a Basham tap out on 10/16. Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted December 3, 2003 It was A-Train, two Smackdowns after No Mercy. Just to make a point of reference, a few seconds later John Cena's face turn began when he gave Train the F-U.

Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted December 3, 2003 So what happens at the Rumble now? Re-match or Cena? Benoit - I don't know, another #1 Contender Match ? Except with Hardcore Holly ? Cena - Cena goes through the H.O.S.S. Squad (A Train, Matt Morgan, Nathan Jones) which leads into a U.S. Title match against The Big Show in which Cena becomes the Champion and I die a happy man. Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted December 3, 2003 Anyone know what date No Mercy was this year? (I forgot) Edit: Nevermind, found the SD Recap. I musta skipped it. DAMN BENOITS SWANDIVE! In my defense, I have stated before I only watch Smackdown now and then, so I miss it sometimes, hence I don't remember this edition. Who was last person he beat with it before A-Train? Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 3, 2003 I'd say... First Smackdown of 2004 Steel Cage Match Non-Title Brock Lesnar Vs Hardcore Holly Brock wins via brutal Maiming...Team Sasquatch help with a beat down...Benoit runs down and helps...Cena follows suit... Next Week #1 Contender Match 4 Way Dance Chris Benoit Vs John Cena Vs The Big Show Vs Matt Morgan Benoit overcomes TBS and Morgan (after Lesnar punks out Cena)... Benoit challenges the tapper to an I QUIT match. Brock reluctantly accepts. Benoit wins The title. Cena wins the rumble... Benoit does a tweener role as he refuses to work 15 years to capture the title and just lose it to a young thug like Cena.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 (edited) I'm glad they gave chavo his old wcw music again. Sweet! 3 weeks ago he won via Head Dive. Over a hoss. I'm betting it was Morgan or maybe A-Train or TBS. I can't remember which one. It was Jones. I'm hoping to see Benoit / Lesnar RR rematch. He also defeated Test with it in his second month in the WWF or so, but the one against Rock (in August 2000) was the latest of all of them..... until the A-Train one (and it WAS him, not Jones, Rico). A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 I'm not a good fantasy booker, so why can't we just do it right this time and have Benoit chase Brock until WM, and then throw in Cena along the way, maybe have him do something in the main event. I'd like the Wrestlemania match to be a Last Man Standing match, so they could then build the feud around Benoit always coming back from beatdowns and maybe a knee injury here or there. Hell, have him almost lose the LMS by being slow on getting to his feet. You don't have to worry about the crowd not responding, it's Madison Square Garden, and unless they "burn out" the crowd with The Rock vs. Stone Cold MMXIX, it could work very well. They aren't going to make boatloads of money anytime soon, so they might as well give out a match that could define a generation. Eh..
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Yes, Chris Jericho VS Rey Mysterio was taped at (and) for the Video Game Awards. Do you honestly think that going into WrestleMania XX, they're going to show a cross-Brand match on free-to-air TV like SmackDown! ?
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Oh, and do you want to know of a good Fantasy Booker? Add [email protected] to your list if you use MSN Messenger Service. He does a 'Raw Fantasy Booking' commentary over at The Shooters, where I do 'iB's Raw VS SmackDown! Diatribe'. What do you think of his stuff?
Austin3164life 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Cena should not win the WWE World Title at this year's Wrestlemania. That should come for WM XXI. I'm thinking Cena wins the U.S. Title, and successfully defends it for a lot of months. Benoit should win at Wrestlemania over Lesnar, in a Submission Match, getting revenge for the dusty finish at a RR main event. Benoit finally is the World Champion (legit, not the WCW phantom reign) and the title reign of greatness~! finally begins.

I meant it the same vein Austin did in 1998 when they did that whole "It took him 8 HARD years to get this" and then have Benoit refusing to work so hard to lose it so quickly because means everything, represents his blood, sweat and sacrifice. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 No matter. Chris Benoit does not back down from challenges. Chris Benoit does not complain when something bothers him. Chris Benoit sorts his problems out in the ring. If you take away/modify that, you've taken away a good portion of his appeal.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Benoit should win the title at the rumble. That way they can play up the match he and Angle had in the previous year and "how close" Benoit was. Then you can talk about other times Benoit was close to the title - bring up WCW. I think Benoit choosing to be in the WWE rather than Being WCW champion is something people should know about.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted December 4, 2003 I think Benoit choosing to be in the WWE rather than Being WCW champion is something people should know about. I don't know about that. Wouldn't that sort of fly in the face of 'Chris Benoit: Wants World Title NO MATTER THE COST'? Unless you spin it as the WWE Title being the 'real' belt worth having. I dunno... I could see the WWE stuff being way more important than the WCW simply because the majority of the direct struggles for the strap have been in WWE.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 (edited) I taped Smackdown last night because I was tired, I'm up to Cena/Benoit right now. Commercial break right after the restart of the match. Oh and apparently several smackdown superstars will be going over to Iraq to deliver USO care packages to soldiers. Cena is one of em. Cherry Blossom Viscount 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Why do you all want Benoit to win the title so bad? You all will bitch about it because the WWE WILL NOT book him the way you all want him to be booked. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 (edited) The Cat and Sable next week on Smackdown in a special musical performance! I can't wait..er.. *books trip to Siberia next week* Apparently they reshot the Albert bets on Benoit part. Spoilers said he bet $50, but he actually laid down 10 grand. So..next week..Albert gets mad at Benoit for costing him $10,000. There is a commercial break in the Benoit/Brock match, highlighted by promo for Armageddon. Its been an above average smackdown match but not as great as everyone is expecting it to be so far... The submission that Brock put Benoit in to win, I've never seen it before. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 I think he should call it the Brock Lock..lol He actually put it on from a standing position. He grabed Benoit's leg and put his knee behind his neck(the knee which he hit with the chair), which left benoit's head in between Brock's knees with his hands on the mat (basically hanging upside down). Eventually Brock sat down on it and thus what you see in the picture.
