Maybe with his track record,it'll help the Canucks Cup chances if he doesn't play.

thats like taking Theodore out of net and relying on Garon to the cup.

Why? Does Jose Theodore do stupid things to cost the Canadiens playoff games too?

Agreed with the sucker punch, but that would not cause some one to break their neck.

The blow to the back of the head, and then him getting smashed into the ice CAN cause that. And really, it doesn't matter if it didn't outright cause it, Bertuzzi still sucker punched him into the ice. Moore is absolutely helpless to whatever happens.

Please explain to me how exactly this is defendable? Hell I thought it was Jeffy of the Rangers again. Except Moore playing to part of Jeffy (I never spell his last name right, you know who I'm talking about).

No shit, really? and i didn't know that you put a puck in the net

I stated that to reaffirm my points. If you have nothing more to say about it then a snipping comment that does nothing to disagree with that fact, don't bother whipping up a lame, utterly silly response.

I have to disagree. Its been blown apart by the media, while yes it was a dirty play, but the punch did not break his neck, you they think it was. You think that sending him to the ice broke his neck, and while sevre whiplash probably occured, and I'm not going to argue that. Its when the players from Colorado jumped on Bertuzzi's back, and this is the major cause, probably in the broken neck.

I think it was the starting point of it, yes. I do believe that his neck probably did suffer cracking in the vertebre the moment I saw him get smashed into the ground. I repeat, when he smashed into the ground. I'm not saying Bertuzzi's punch caused it all, I'm saying him hitting the ground as a result of Bertuzzi's punch probably cause his neck to be messed up. I mean, that just didn't look right the way he fell and frankly I don't doubt something was messed up when he hit the ground.

It probably was mashed up further by everyone who decided to get things in "order".

I'll still say he'll miss 10 games.

And you wanna hear the outcry if that does and consequences that will happen if he gets nothing less than this season and his next? It basically will portray that if you obtain "superstar" status, you are immune to what should be the "reality".

I'm not saying I want Bertuzzi to miss the next season. I didn't think McSorley did enough to warrant a year suspension. I'm just saying that precident has been set. The NHL doesn't follow through with precident, and they'll be screwed.

Did he mean it like that? No, probably not, but that's what he went out and did. We'll see what happens, but I'm quite sure that this will end up with Bertuzzi suspended for next season. Since this IS the same city that had been asking for the same of Marty.

He hasn't been much of a help in their playoff sucess. He usually does something to cost them more than help them.

If he had his head on straight,he'd be a huge asset. He hasn't shown much indication of having that ability in the playoffs.

Fact is, the precident was set with McSorley and there will be backlash if Bertuzzi gets nothing less than McSorley did.

The fallacy in that argument, though, is that the love-tap that McSorley gave Brashear isn't what gave him the concussion, it was Brashear's head bouncing on the ice like a basketball. But it's what caused the thing that caused the injury that gets 'credit' for the problem, not what directly caused the injury. If the sucker punch hadn't set the whole thing in motion, there wouldn't have been the pigpile on Moore's neck and back, causing serious damage.

Its allready a farce on the consistancy on suspensions on dirty hits, except for the McSortly incident on Brashier.

Tucker "hip-check" on Peca

Domi elbow on Neidermyer

McLaren "hit" on Zednik

Lemeuix behind hit on Draper

and couuntless knee on knee hits from Marchment on numerous amounts of victims.

The last one that was charged before McSorely/Brashier was Ciccerelli high stick on Luc Robatile

Ruickinsky to Vancouver

Luke Richardson, not Robataille.

whoops. My bad.

and leaf fans better hope Belfour doesn't get hurt.

Telqvist can handle the rest of the season, because Toronto schedule isn't that challenging.

When in the playoffs, I think he is going to be shaky, like Weeks was a few years back

Let me state, that I know how bad the league needs to crack down more on bullshit stuff that happens.

Yet, can you please tell me what is so acceptable about Moore being hunted down on a "bounty", hounded, and finally given a hell of a sucker punch? Considering the severity of the injury that Moore has suffered, anything less than a year suspension will make any cred the league has for suspension giving die out.

Isn't this Neckar's 2nd run with Tampa?

Yep. He was originally a salary dump thrown to the Bolts in the Khabibulin trade.

It looks like it will just be for some extra depth, as, barring injuries, I am guessing he'll spend most of his time in the press box.

Do you think Moore will ever take a cheap shot at a star player again? I don't think so. I feel bad he broke his neck, but Bertuzzi took a leadership role and defended the honor of his friend. He should've squared him around than knocked him out, the punch from behind was wrong. The entire problem with the incident is that Bertuzzi didn't realize how strong he is. He knocked the kid out on his feet than the kid fell ackwardly onto his face. Should he be punished? Definately. For the rest of the year? I don't think so.

Considering the league didn't do anything at all to Moore as punishment for the hit on a star player, I question how much of a cheap shot it was. Can someone tell me the nature of the hit on Naslund? All I've read so far is it was an open ice hit and Naslund caught an elbow and got a concussion that kept him out three games.

He was on his knees defenseless - and Moore came in with a shoulder directly to his face. It was certainly a cheapshot - one that was fueled by the fact that Moore did not apologize.

After reading everyone's responses, do you think you might be exagerrating by asking for a 2 year suspension? I'd be disappointed if he was suspended for the entire playoffs, let alone the next year.

The amount of ignorance in this thread is laughable....

Oh, how constuctive!

After seeing that hit, my gut tells me that Bertuzzi needs to miss the rest of the season, including the postseason.

I can't justify suspending him for NEXT season...yet. Thing is, it was a hit that Moore couldn't have defended against, coupled with the fact that Bertuzzi rode him into the ice, purposely injuring him (and with that, breaking his neck).

Don't forget that Bertuzzi grabbed Moore's sweater to ensure a solid punch as well.

Only two trades really surprised me:

-Sanderson to Canucks for a 3rd rounder (not Sanderson being traded, but that they only sent a 3rd rounded for him)

-Francis to Leafs for a 4th rounder in 2005

Everything else was minor, basic deals, nothing all that interesting to me.

Moore was going in to hit Naslund, Naslund lost his footing, and Moore was too far into the hit to stop. The hit was accidental. The Canucks made a big deal out of it because it's their captain getting hit with a borderline hit on open ice. Marc Crawford got his panties in a knot and swore revenge on Moore and the Avalanche. He didn't get it in the game on March 3 because it was a close game (that ended in a tie).

"The hit itself wasn't dirty," Naslund said. But what bothered the Canucks star is the attitude Moore demonstrated.

"He took advantage of me being in a vulnerable position and he looked to hit me there,'' Naslund said Wednesday. "You need to finish your hits but there is no reason to go after the head. I don't think there's a reason to attempt to injure players."

Sounds like Todd Bertuzzi needed to heed his captains' words.

And watch this and tell me that the weight of the players and Todd Bertuzzi, and not the hit and shove to the ice, broke his neck.
