Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 This pile of horse shit of a show mad ALL of us that much stupider for watching it. It's without a doubt one of the worst displays of television that I've ever seen before, the worst "awards show", INCLUDING RAW X. At least it has it's "so bad it's great" moments. Someone fucking put this abomination of a show to rest, and let's never have another one. I mean, for fucks sake, it's VIDEO GAMES, some of the stuff on the show wasn't fit for the topic. This show was just horrible. I can't even begin to list all of the horrid shit that was on this show...I'd be up on night. I would like to say that if you are going to have a video game awards show, then at least present it so that it doesn't make video game fans look like piles of shit, and have a host who acts like he FUCKING WANTS TO BE THERE. Enough of the taking shots at video games, all of that was like second rate to everything else.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 I agree, Downhome. I've never been a fan of David Spade, but as a host, he didn't do much of anything besides the opening monologue which was terribly unfunny. Funkmaster Flex introduced the rest of the segments. Most of the people who showed up to "present" didn't really do much of anything and the fact that they simply announced winners was just retarded. The musical acts sucked too and most weren't even video game related. In what game can you hear the song "Milkshake"? This was pretty goddamned terrible. Downhome 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 You see, this bullshit pissed me off far more than anything in WWE in quite a while. What the fuck is up with just out of nowhere announcing the winners? I believe this show was put together by a bunch of monkeys and mentally disturbed dumb shits. Ugh. Slayer 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 Look on the bright side At least, as a manner of promoting it, SpikeNN had an MXC marathon today, that was pretty sweet. Jer 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 Heh I'd be curious to see the real Takeshi's Castle. I hear it's hilarious because no one ever wins. They cut the final part out of MXC, bah. The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 I kinda liked the set, especially the screen parallel to the ground where they revealed the winners, but other than that, yeah, it sucked. I didn't realize the WWE matches were taking place there at the MGM... I thought they were being taped at SmackDown? Oh well, who cares... And did anybody else get REALLY REALLY annoyed by how someone would win an award and that would magically segue into the next segment involving that person? The example that comes to mind right off the top of my head was the WWE game winning -> then they go straight into the match. What an AMAZING coincidence. OK, one more thing for the road... Pretty much everybody shit all over this. Then again, I didn't see the G-4 awards show, but I heard that was atrocious as well. For anyone who has seen both, which was worse? Without Farley, Spade's been nothing. So no big surprise there. I was actually planning on watching this show, but I didn't remember that it was on tonight. Looks like I lucked out. Guest Kamui Report post Posted December 5, 2003 *wonders if there's some hardcore American Takeshi's Castle fans who are violently upset at Spike TV "ruining" the show* I've seen the Japanese version before, and I like the MXC one better. It's funnier. Takeshi's Castle is stupid from the start, not serious, so that doesn't mean any difference to me, and isn't comparable to, say, turning Sailor Moon into a retarded show for 3-year-olds. Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted December 6, 2003 This doesn't top Raw X in terms of complete and utter failure ( because there's a very good chance there will be no 2nd VGAs), but as a future game designer I can say it sucessfully put a black eye on the industry. Notice how it didn't matter if the games were good or not (a 3-year-old could tell you that Enter the Matrix sucked) but how much they were marketed. I think the reason a lot of big name developers didn't participate (Nintendo, a name synonymous with video games, wasn't even mentioned)) was because they didn't even want to associate themselves with this. And who exactly did this entertain or honor? The celebs there were obviously cashing a paycheck. None of the stuff they had (B-level music, B-level sports, fully-clothed porn stars, C-level comedy) was entertaining to the audience. The biggest slap in the face goes to the makers of some of these games who weren't even muttered about. I mean, what a crock of shit.
Guest Skironox Report post Posted December 6, 2003 This was more rigged and edited (I could tell they dubbed out boos for Enter The Matrix) than a episode of Smackdown. I mean, how convenient was it that Wrestling and Skateboarding segments took place right after their respective games "won"? How the hell did Madden take home game of the year (no comment on that...) while not winning best sports game?

I remember back in the day when I used to watch SM (long long ago) how in the episode right after blondie #2 joins the group, they all gather in "regular girl form" and one says, with straight face, "I don't even recognize you!"... as they all look the same from Sailor form, except with different outfits. Magic my ass... how many girls do you know with giant testicles on their head followed by long tails anyway? At least the original Sailor V has the "Zorro's Mask" excuse
Guest Kamui Report post Posted December 6, 2003 (edited) The mental giants that are the American dubbers added this for their show- in the original Japanese show, they never mention this. In fact, this is completley unsupported by an episode in the first season that was cut out of the English dub, where Usagi (that's Serena, Sailor Moon) hides from her brother while transformed because she's afraid he'll recognize her. Why would her brother almost recognize her (as he comments that she reminds him of someone, which causes her to duck behind the car) if she could hide her idenity "magically"? AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2003 "Magic" = an out for lazy writers. It would be funny if anytime there was a plothole in WWE they would say it was "magic." Anya 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2003 A lot of things don't make sense about Sailor Moon. Why are their super hero outfits really short skirts anyway? I don't understand why a magic moon princess would wear a sailor suit. Why was Artemis hiding in an arcade machine? When Luna calls him out on that he just blows her off. Why doesn't Serena ever use her disguise pen after the first couple of times? Why doesn't Queen Beryl just tell her incompetent generals to get energy from some other town, a town where magic school girls can't beat them down?

Guest Kamui Report post Posted December 6, 2003 A lot of things don't make sense about Sailor Moon. Actually, almost all of these were explained in the original Japanese version. Why are their super hero outfits really short skirts anyway? I don't understand why a magic moon princess would wear a sailor suit. Okay, this one is admittedly weak, but at least it's there- it's supposed to be for "mobility", according to Artemis near the end of season one. He was probably being sarcastic, but there you go. Why was Artemis hiding in an arcade machine? When Luna calls him out on that he just blows her off. This one was definatley explained- first off, Artemis wasn't hiding in the arcade machine originally. He was communicating to Luna from another location through the arcade machine while he was hanging around with Minako (that's Sailor Venus). Luna didn't have all her memory back yet, so she didn't know who Artemis was yet (remember, at the start of the show she didn't remember anything other than the Sailor Senshi?), and Artemis felt it would be easier than explaining everything to her to just call himself "central command". When Luna actually met him and then he tried to talk to her through the arcade machine again, he was probably trying to mess with her. He's a pretty goofy cat, after all. Why doesn't Serena ever use her disguise pen after the first couple of times? She does- don't know about the American version, but Usagi uses it throughout season 1 in the Japanese version. Just sparingly after the inital "Usagi by herself" arc because simply there aren't any situations that call for it. Obviously, if she doesn't need to disguise herself then she's not gonna use a disguise pen. In the Japanese version, the very last time it's used is in the third season, Sailor Moon S, when Minako needs to pretend to be Sailor Moon, so it's not like they just forgot about it or anything. Why doesn't Queen Beryl just tell her incompetent generals to get energy from some other town, a town where magic school girls can't beat them down? Jadiete was the only general only looking for energy- the rest had some other reason for being in Tokyo. But I'll go through all of them. Jadiete- After he tried the first time to get energy in Tokyo (don't ask me why he picked there- hell if I know), part of his mission was to kill the Sailor Senshi because they were a threat to Beryl. This is Beryl's incompotence, that she was so focused with the Senshi for personal reasons (her past, getting locked away by Usagi's mom) rather than sending her general to collect energy elsewhere. Nephrite- Remember, his method of collecting energy centered around that single mansion on the outskirts of Tokyo. It's how he found people whose energy was at their peak. It's never said he could do it anywhere else, or why he could do it there in the first place, but yeah. Later, he's looking for the pieces of the Gizinoushu fragments (Imperial Silver Crystal in the American dub) and the Black Crystal pretty clearly tells him that they're in Tokyo. If anything, that'd make Queen Serenity the incompotent one (sending all of the Rainbow Crystal pieces to the SAME FREAKING CITY, which they do never explain, I'll give you that), not Beryl or Nephrite. Zoisite- See the Nephrite one. His (yes, he's a GUY, not a girl like in the American dub) mission is to collect the Rainbow Crystal pieces to form the Gizinshou, and all of those pieces are in Tokyo. Where else is he going to go? Kunzite (Malachite in the dub)- Kunzite's mission is to get the Gizinshou back from Usagi, who already has it. Why would he go anywhere else? See?
