OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Every other year I take the wife and kids 2 hours towards Lake Tahoe so that the kids can play in the snow. To us its just something you see on tv.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 You are all such pussies. Come live in Canada for a winter. You can't drive in 4-8 inches of snow? I wouldn't hire you either. There are ways of getting to that job interview like the bus or other means - you are simply using the snow as an excuse for not going. Agreed. 4 inches is the average snowfall during winter here. Having said that, fuck snow. The negatives undoubtably outweigh the positives here. Positives - Looks nice when falling slowly - Helps enhance the holiday season (at least for me it does) - Snowboarding Negatives - Whips into your face when it's windy and makes your face numb - Makes your hair/clothes wet, especially when combined w/ rain - Difficult to walk - Even more difficult to drive - Causes serious accidents, which slows down everybody - Causes events to be cancelled - Causes people to not want to go out and do something because the weather is crappy. Where do they go? To rent videos and make my life all the more difficult. Fuck snow.
Guest stardust Report post Posted December 5, 2003 Try Houston. Ice gets us pretty good as well (snow? what's that??), but the really annoying thing is how everyone flips out now every time we get even a hint of heavy rain. All the news stations run constant "flood alerts" and I've seen people actually leave work early "so they can get home" before the rain. Tropical Storm Allison in 2001 has made people absolutely paranoid. I live up in the Dallas area right now, so we'll actually get a little bit of snow, but it's always more ice than anything else. Being from the Waco area, though, we would get nothing but ice down there. So yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. As for the heavy rain thing...we'll get heavy rain up here and down in Waco, but people don't trip out over it for the most part. No one ever drives right in it, but there aren't people saying they have to get home before the rain. It's normally "I have to get home before the ice hits." Every now and then it'll be "I have to get home and bring in the dogs before the tornado hits." Now that one I DO hear often.

B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 It jsut started snowing here in Wheeling. We're supposed to get somewhere between 4-6" today which will make my trip up Rte. 88 to school one HELL of a trip. Nothing more fun than driving up and down a hill containing multiple uphill and downhill hairpin turns in the snow. Good times, I tells ya. Good times. KingPK 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2003 It's started snowing about an hour or so ago up here. The forecast is 10-18" by Sunday afternoon. Eh, I enjoy the snow. Yeah, it's a bitch to drive in, but I'm not really going anywhere and I could walk to my work if I had to tomorrow (it's only about a 10 minute walk). Guest Jimbo Report post Posted December 5, 2003 hey wait...who else is in the DC area on this board that's enjoying the snow This is the most snow I've ever seen, course I am from the South...I'm quite amazed with how well the road crews are handling it all. *points to last post* ahhh, the feeling of being ignored.... Bleh, the trucks look good because they need to dispose of the half inch that barely accumalated on the raods. Last year it took the idiots 5 days to finally get to our street, which is in a pretty high-populated area. I enjoy snow because it gives me a break from school and when you've got as much stress as I have at the moment, these snow days are great and give me an extra day to catch up on everything. But I can understand all the gripes people who work have.

There are ways of getting to that job interview like the bus or other means - you are simply using the snow as an excuse for not going. I would have taken the bus if the snow didn't come out of nowhere. True, it was forecasted, but as being a dusting, and it wasn't supposed to start until the afternoon. I asked to reschedule, and the woman was such a bitch it was ridiculous. What's the big deal about rescheduling? And like I already said, it wasn't worth driving all the way up there for an interview that would've taken 15 minutes. People quit that job so often, I would've been hired on the spot, so the interview is basically unneccesary. Oh well, I still got ten bucks that says they call back and reschedule. I had a rude lady like that at an interview once. I was interviewing at a shoe store when I told her I couldn't work Sundays. Befoire I could say it was because I had a second job at my temple all day Sunday, she huffs and says "We ALL have to work on Sundays" in the snottiest tone of voice ever. And snow no longer bothers me, I now hate ice. I have to park in the driveway, and last year I went through three pairs fo wiper blades in two months becayse the blades froze to the windshield, and whe I pulled them up, the shredded. Fuck ice. haVoc 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2003 Yeah, fuck snow! I've shoveled twice already today and it's still coming down hard. It's suppose to keep snowing through the night and tomorrow morning I have to take a 8 hour course so I can finally get my NY state certified security license. Usually it would only be a 20 minute drive with 5 minutes of it on the highway but with snow I'm going to have to leave an hour early. That's no fun on a Sunday morning! treble 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2003 We had a little bit of snow left from a few weeks ago, but it was raining overnight, so most of it's gone. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 12, 2003 The best part about the snow is playing in it. What are you? Four? As one who lives in snowy conditions 8/9 months of the year, I could say playing in snow is not that uncommon. Whether making snow forts or having snowball fights - there are plenty of fun ways to pass the time in snow.
Guest HungryJack Report post Posted December 12, 2003 Lets not forget skiing or snowboarding, and toboganning. oh yea. we have maybe 4 inches of snow, but its fairl old and packed down now. it's been pretty wicked cold lately though. goddammit. and to echo an earlier sentiment; who can't drive in 4-8 inches of snow????? that's very sad...and appalling.
