1) Why didn't Undertaker wrestle at Summerslam 91? Was he injured? Was there just no room on the card? Seems strange, since he could just squash somebody, right?

 

2) Did Vince really apologize for KOTR 95 on a RAW after it? What did he say?

 

3) Why was Waylon Mercy (Dan Spivey) going to get a big push in 95 before he got injured? Because he was big?

1)Not sure,maybe to make the attack during the wedding a surprise.

2)I don't think he apologised,i remember him saying something about the internet.

3)Because he was big,could work and had a unique gimmick.

4)Because Razor(who should have been pinned) had a wwf title match at Royal Rumble 93 and they wanted to make him look a legit contender.

5)Hogan vs Flair was nixed because Hogan wanted to leave and back then the heel always lost in the World title match,hence the other 2 being swithced around.

6)They showed it because he was beat down after the match which made him look really bad.

7)Not the best example but at Wrestlemania 7 everyone thought that Bossman would win the Ic title from mr perfect.

8)i'm not sure,Sid and 1-2-3 Kid were about to win the Tag Titles so it was either an injury or Sid did something.

9)Can't remember but the guy got a hell of a lot of money.

10)Hogan didn't want to look bad by beeing the last man eliminated,Hogan vs Zeus was actually the original WM6 plan.

I can answer 5 and 7 for you.

 

5) Yes, and the reason it was changed is because Hogan was about to "retire" to go do more movies and such, and they didn't want to make Hogan look weak or put the belt on someone who wasn't going to be there.

 

7) For me, I REALLY thought with all my heart that Cactus Jack at Rumble 02 was a sure thing title win.

To clear up the question from earlier, Hogan didn't step aside to retire. He took a leave of absence to take some heat off Vince during the steroid situation which flared up big in late 91 / early 92. Take a look at the CHV version of WrestleMania VIII - during a luncheon, Hogan tells Okerlund that he's going to just take some time off and then come back to challenge the champion. And that's exactly what happened, though he was probably brought back earlier than anticipated due to the fall in ratings and attendance.

 

As far as the proposed matches for WrestleMania, all three would have been money makers - especially Hogan / Flair. That was a match that was nearly 10 years in the making and they had taken it around the horn for 6 months prior to Mania, in both singles and tag matches. You can argue the quality of the matches all day long - but they drew massive heat and interest from around the world. It was the ultimate mark vs. smark series with Flair having more than handful of fans in attenance.

 

I doubt Sid or Taker had problems losing. Taker lost to Warrior every day of the week during the first half of 1991 and lost to Sid every day of the week during the second half (at least until Sid got hurt; once he returned in early 92, the losing streak for Taker continued).

Couldn't they still have done Hogan/Flair and have it end with Hogan winning by DQ, Flair and Perfect and some other heel beating Hogan down, and Warrior returning? Then they could have had Taker beat Sid and Savage beat Jake in a career match. Just surprised they didn't go that direction, but I can see why they'd want the babyface to win the world title at WM.

A huge "can't miss" title match was the World Tag Title match at Starrcade'87. The Road Warriors, who were one of the key figures on the NWA roster at the time, had been on the hunt for a long time and their big opportunity came in their home town of Chicago. The show was billed as Chi-Town Heat and the fans in attendance had seen them miss too many times already and now they were sooooo ready to pop for a clean title win.

 

Of course Animal & Hawk were screwed again and Chicago never forgave NWA who lost loads of fans over this.

 

I'm sure old school AWA fans could tell similar stories about Nick Bockwinkle vs. Hulk Hogan.

I'm glad we got Hogan vs. Warrior at WM6. Hogan vs. Perfect was a keyfabe mismatch at the time. Had they gone with Hogan vs. Zeus it would have been sweet if they had Hogan and Perfect in there in the end with Zeus coming down and just ripping Hogan out of the ring. Perfect could brag about winning the Rumble, Hogan fans would be focusing on Zeus and no one would lose heat.
