EdwardKnoxII Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Flair Still Interested In WMXX Match With Steamboat Posted By Ashish on 12.10.03 Flair up to do it again... Rumors recently came up that a Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat match was being discussed for WrestleMania XX. It has since become known that WWE is not planning this match at this point. However, it should be noted that Ric Flair would be ready to work this match if WWE decides to do it. Flair apparently feels that this would be the right time to do the match because many young fans have now seen the original on DVD. Steamboat has verbally stated on radio appearances that he'd like to face Flair one more time. Credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
BifEverchad Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Awesome Ya think? I'm kinda on the fence on this one. As cool as it would be for nostalgia purposes. How good can that match actually be in 2004? 15 years after their epic NWA encounters, and 10 years after their 'decent' WCW match-ups. Although both are legends, I'm not exactly sure how they can hold up after all these years.
deancoles Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I don't want their legacy to be ruined by having a ** match.I'd rather see Flair/Sting than be wincing everytime Steamboat takes a bump.
razazteca Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Would this match be Flair vs Steamboat or a tag match? I think a tag match would be better as Steamboat could be brought in as a mentor to a current WWE talent and a challenge would be made by Evolution vs Steamboat & protege.
Lil' Bitch Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I'm hoping WM XX will be Flair's retirement match...
deancoles Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Flair would only be on the card if he were to fight Sting or Steamboat and that's a sad thing to say.
BifEverchad Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 If Flair does happen to wrestle at XX, I hope goes over whoever he faces. Most likely another legend, so it won't really matter. Flair has only wrestled at 2 Wrestlemanias in the past, and has loss BOTH of them. So to see him wrestle at Wrestlemania XX and win, would truely be a treat and deserving to THE man.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Ever think these guys just want to cap off their careers instead of having a 60 Min ***** match? I think these guys are such legends that they should be able to have one last go with one another. I certainly wouldn't be upset by it. Its one less Val Venis match at WM as far as I'm concerned.
NoCalMike Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 this match is unnecessary, however if for some reason it was Flair's FINAL time wrestling, sure why not, however I doubt it.
Guest Besus Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 ^Yeah I agree, If it's Flair final match I wouldn't bitch but if not then it dont need to happen.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I doubt that they could even get Steamboat for this.
Guest Choken One Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Steamboat himself said he was interested. He started the rumor.

Guest Salacious Crumb Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I was not aware of that. I don't see how this match could even be passable. I mean when's the last time that Steamboat stepped in a ring and had an actual match? 94?
Guest Barcelona Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Steamboat vs. Austin would be cool. I'd rather see Flair go over Hogan.
LooseCannon25 Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 How is this match gonna be intriguing......Steamboat has't stepped in a ring in almost 10 damn years, and Flair is DONE. Forget this nostalgia shit and give me good matches between current and up and coming talents.
godthedog Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 bad, bad, bad idea. the entire appeal of the flair/steamboat series was that the matches were so god damn great. flair/steamboat at WMXX would essentially be the flair/steamboat series without that whole "good match" thing going for it; without that, you've really got no appeal, & the greatness of the past matches would only make it seem that much worse. flair/sting at the final nitro was painful enough to watch, and if i see ricky f'ing steamboat doing that to himself, i will cry.
