Guest rawmvp Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 (edited) Reportedly, the Rock is against a program with John Cena in Feb/March that would culminate in a match at WrestleMania 20. WWE feels that the Rock could've given Cena -- WWE' hottest young star -- a huge rub by putting him over at the biggest show of the year. The reason for Rock's refusal to work this program is unknown at this time. credit: PWTorch Newsletter Hmmmm... I think the reason for this is simple. Rock isn't stupid; he knows that even if he does give Cena the rub, HHH is gonna ruin everything (ex: Jericho). Edited December 11, 2003 by rawmvp
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Oh no, I hope they don't go with Rock/Orton now. If not Rock/Cena, I'll settle for Rock/HBK.
Guest BDC Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 If the Rock is saying he could give a rub, I'm guessing they wanted him to win.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Yay! Rock/HBK or Rock/Angle!
Guest hunger4unger Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I don't think that The Rock *has* to give a youngster the rub at Mania. A well hyped match between Rock and HBK will suit me fine.
The Metal Maniac Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I'm curious as to why Rock WOULDN'T want to put Cena over. I mean, Rock's never been one to refuse jobs...he's put RHYNO over, for fuck's sake.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I am interested as to why Rock vetoed the match. Rock/Cena was the match I wanted to see most happened at WrestleMania XX. It better be a good reason as to why it isn't happening!
Guest JMA Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Yay! Rock/HBK or Rock/Angle! Not gonna happen. We're getting Rock/Orton (sadly).
iliketurtles Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Now I'd also like the reason to Rock saying no.
EdwardKnoxII Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Just like the poster at the start said Rock figures that once he gives the rub to Cena, Triple H is going to fuck it up.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 How is that even possible? Triple H and John Cena are on different rosters!
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Perhaps HHH goes to SD for one night, gets the win from Cena the SD night after Mania.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Rock vs <insert first name here> McMahon
LooseCannon25 Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I'd love Rock vs. HBK or Angle or Benoit. Maybe he heard the plan AFTER Wrestlemania which is why he vetoed the match.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Unless HHH gets tired of burying everyone on RAW and decides to bury people on SmackDown, a HHH/Cena match is highly unlikely, so I don't know why Rock would turn down a match. They're not even on the same roster. And Rock said he wanted his WrestleMania XX oppoent to be "Special", so why would he fight Orton? Now, HBK on the other hand. Still, maybe there is hope that Rock could change his mind and we get Rock vs. Cena at WrestleMania XX. I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope.
EdwardKnoxII Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 How is that even possible? Triple H and John Cena are on different rosters! Perhaps HHH goes to SD for one night, gets the win from Cena the SD night after Mania Hell no kidding. And then there are the rumors that HHH will move over to SD to be reunited with Steph on screen.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 How is that even possible? Triple H and John Cena are on different rosters! So are Rock and Cena
EdwardKnoxII Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I think Rock can travel between rosters remember he had that feud with Hogan when he was on SD.
haVoc Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 It's not that hard to explain. All it takes is Vince to say "I decided to let these two guys from each brand wrestle." It's that simple. He's the owner.
LooseCannon25 Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 besides........Goldberg vs. Lesnar is rumored and they are on different.......Taker vs. Kane are on different brands. So what's the difference with Rock vs. Cena
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I think he's sick of putting people over only to see the WWF not do anything with them. Look at what happened to the Hurricane. He pinned the Rock then they wouldn't even give him a clean win over Rodney Mack. He's probably sick of being the only person willing to get newer guys over.
The Fett Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 With the not so great numbers The Rundown had, I think maybe Rock is going to be a little more hesitant about jobbing to young wrestlers that aren't big names. In the past he was confident he was going to make it in Hollywood, so it wasn't a big deal to give someone else the spotlite. Now that he's not so confident about his career in hollywood, he's going be looking for himself a little more and being more weary about who he jobs to.
Guest Ghettoman Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 *wonders why Rock vetoed the match* Oh wait, I just realized, we don't know he did. Nevermind.
SinToxic Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 ***The reason*** -> standing next to Cena, The Rock is afraid that he'll look less black and more white compared to John.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Damn, the promos leading up to the match would have been GOLD.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Damn, the promos leading up to the match would have GOLD. Nope. There'd be at least one rap off, which immediately sets the feud at rock bottom (pun intended) They'd have to really work hard to un do that.

There'd be at least one rap off, which immediately sets the feud at rock bottom (pun intended) They'd have to really work hard to un do that. Hopefully they would save the battle rap (or song for Rock) till like RIGHT before the match. And your right, if they did do the rap off, it could damn near kill the feud right there. Because someone there would have to be humilated. Which neither the Rock nor Cena is used to in promos. So yeah, now I think about it; it would be insanely hard to give face to face promos.
Guest Anglesault Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 That and the "battle rap" kind of, you know, SUCKED ASS. all 37 Rikishi versions, both Angle versions and the Big Show version were awful.
Guest TheArchiteck Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 Big Show's version was nowhere as bad as Rikishi's and Angle's. Big Show at least gave some decent lines. So I wouldn't say it SUCKED ASS.
