Bradshaw goofs during USO meetings

Recommended Posts

Guest wrestlingbs

I'm surprised nobody pointed this out. During the taped USO annoucement, Bradshaw was talking at the podium. He says something along the line of:

'The US has a great military, the only undefeated one in the world..."

Wha??? I know Bradshaw's a super patriot, but even the US government admitted they lost the Vietnam war. And that's still pretty fresh in people's minds. I really don't know what he was thinking. Not a major mistake, but a very odd thing to say.

It actually depends on what stance you take actually.

I'd have to go dig my notes out for particulars, but I just took a course on military intervention, and we went into deep discussion on that.

"We did not lose that war! It was a tie!" -Otto, A Fish Called Wanda

I also question that business about the US military being the "only" undefeated military force in the world. Especially when you consider that in many cases, if your army loses, your country ceases to exist.

Bradshaw strikes me as a person who not as intelligent as he thinks he is.

And more importantly, a sucky wrestler too.

1812 (Yes, we went to war with Canada, and didn't win), Vietnam, Korea (?--I honestly don't remember what I learned about that one so I could be wrong), and depending on if you count it or not, the Bay of Pigs invasion which was arranged by the U.S. was a huge failure.

Methinks this is the wrong folder, though.

*Lance Storm gets up infront of Canadian troops*

Storm: You guys protect us from all the bad things out there, and it's my honour to present to you these Tim Horton chocolate chip muffins - easy though, there's those sugar crystals on em, might knock a tooth loose, there ya go. We're undefeated in battle, because of guys like you. Not even old man winter could keep the great city of Toronto down because you guys were there to save the day. We're really proud of you three, good job.

The US didn't win the war of 1812, but they didn't really lose. Sure, the White House was burned down (by Brits, not Canadians) but it's not like the US surrendered or anything. In the same vein, Canada didn't win or lose that war either.

I dunno if Australia's army has ever lost; we have a coupla boats, a few planes; a knife and some guns. It counts damnit!

And Bradshaw is REALLY dumb, I mean; there are a hell of a lot of countries . . . with a hell of a lot of armies.

According to Canadian Bacon if we ever invaded Canada we'd be mistaken for rowdy tourists.

1812 (Yes, we went to war with Canada, and didn't win)

I see this one get thrown around and perpetuated by American ignorance of Canadian history

Canada was not a nation until fifty-five years after the War of 1812 (if you really want to get technical, 170 years after, but that's another issue), so how could we have lost to a nation that didn't even exist? Back in 1812, what is now called Canada was occupied by mostly Brits, some Frenchies, and several displaced natives. No Canadians though.

Not to mention Andy Jackson pwned the Brits in New Orleans

While it's true that "Dominion of Canada" did not come together until 1867, the territories Upper and Lower Canada existed well before this, and predate the war of 1812.

And Major-General Sir Isaac Brock browsed, bought, paid for, refinished, repainted, fixed up, and polished AND OWNED General William Hull.

Uhmm...somebody remind me. What has this got to do with wrestling again? How did we get on this topic?

You'd be discovered in about half a minute. Every single Canadian has the ability to smell a dirty Yankee a kilometre away.

Given the amount of French & French descendants in Canada, I'd say we Yanks would conquer you in about 3 days.

That's right, I made a French joke. What are YOU going to do about it, JMA?!?!?! :P

Canada had the largest armed forces in the world at the outbreak of WW1.

America invaded, they were repeled, and counter attacked leading to the burning of the white house.

I'd call that a victory.
