Sonata Arctica

Hey, I was wondering if anyone else listened to Sonata Arctica. They are a power/speed/melodic metal band from Finland and they are pretty talented.

I'm so so on them. I can listen to them but there aer other Power Metal bands I'd rather listen to.

I like their cover of Helloween's "I Want Out" and their "Fade to Black" is decent, if different.

 

Outside of that, I've never been big into them...

They are ok, but I'm not that into power metal.

I break power metal bands into 2 categories:

 

1. The unique PM bands who produce a great number of individual songs, and

2. The rest (one or two standout songs, but forget about the majority of their work)

I checked them out based on Agent hating them, and I can't see his problem with them. Is it the melodies? The epic story telling? A wide range of vocals and sounds? I suppose that's it. There's not enough rectal blood loss and urrggh furrgghh krggg KAAAAHHH for his tastes.
