Peyton may have good (even great) regular season stats, but let's look at his postseason stats now:

'99 vs. Titans - 19/43 att, 227 yds, no TDs

'00 vs. Dolphins - 17/32 att, 194 yds, 1 TD

'02 vs. Jets - 14/31 att, 137 yds, no TDs, 2 INTs

I will continue to state that until Manning wins a big game (or rather, several big games, like the big one) that he's an overrated QB who gets a lot of media time because he's an "aw shucks" pretty southern boy

Actually I think he gets all of the attention for his last name. Same with Eli Manning(most overrated QB in NCAA....hell Miami of Ohio's QB is better).

EXACTLY!

I'll take a guy that puts up mediocre numbers but performs in the clutch consistently anyday.

Umm.. do you know where Ole Miss would be WITHOUT Eli Manning? Oh please, Ben Roethlisberger is a great QB but this can just be another Ryan Leaf-Peyton Manning debate. And, we all know how that one turned out.

His last name doesn't hurt his status, for sure, but he does play well for most of the regular season (unless the other team's name is the Gators, the Dolphins or the Patriots)

It's just undeniable that his big game record in both college and pro football is horrid

^except that Tom Brady has won a few playoff games (and a super bowl), something Peyton hasnt done yet...

Erm, yeah. Thanks for stating obvious facts. Manning is the better quarterback, period. Sure, he's choked in the playoffs, but that still doesn't make him less of a QB than Brady.

In a few years, we'll be making this comparison...

Peyton = Dan Marino.

Brady = Joe Montana.

Marino never had a dominating defense (like Brady when the Pats won the SB), nor a good running game to support him (Manning has Edgerrin, yet still hasn't won a playoff game). Marino still got to the SB w/out either, but ran up against one of the great 49er teams.

Marino's teams were completely 1 dimensional, and it wasn't until his last few years where the defense was even respectable. I realize I'm probably biased in this regard, but I think Marino doesn't get his "props" due to not winning the SB, when his teams were never had a run game or defense, both of which you need to win.

Has there ever been a 1-dimensional team that has won the SB?

The Ravens had an AMAZING defense and an offense that didn't turn the ball over.

You can be one dimensional defense way but not offense way. Not in today's NFL. Just ask the old Raiders how that turned out.
