Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Eh, it doesn't matter with me most of the time, but there are shows where I won't watch the subs for at all(Slayers, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, unedited Kenshin, and any of the Tenchi series). It's nothing against the Japanese VAs who worked on said shows, it's just that the English ones sound better(IMHO, obviously). As long as the dub is pretty good I think you're fairly safe. It's just that you gotta watch out for horrable dubs out there that can absolutely wreck a show. WP's Anime Reccomendations of the Day! PERFECT BLUE -- First off, warnings because this show is very disturbing at points. Don't watch it front of your younger siblings or kids. Two versions exist. One I think is NC-17 and the other one is restricted or unrated. The dub seemed pretty good in this though I hear there's a quote at the end that comes off better in Japanese. Lots of nice physcological suspense in this. BLOOD REIGN CURSE OF THE YOMA -- I really liked this one because of its atmosphere, imagination and what it made me think about. I don't think everyone would like it as much as me though. BUBBLEGUM CRISIS -- ORIGINAL SERIES -- THis was just fun and an example of a sub definitely being better than a dub. Not the best series ever (uncompleted) or anything but the music in it I really liked. It gets a little repititive after awhile but there are a couple of songs here I really took a liking too. It's weird. I can only listen to them a few times over because it becomes a little annoying but whenever I want to feel good I just pop in that song on the first DVD and listen to it a few times. Works every time. The combination of the animation/action in the background, people having a good time and boomers on the loose just make for a happy WP ready to take on the world. MILLENIUM ACTRESS -- This may have been from the same director as Perfect Blue. A lot tamer than Perfect this is a love story with a different feel to it because of the way it's filmed and it's creativity. Give this one a shot. An unknown underrated flick. Even if you don't like love stories, pick this one up. You won't regret it. Terrific piece of work. Resident Evil 4 in 2 days guys! I'm pumped. 9.8 at IGN who are kind of tough on Resident Evil games. Anybody else excited for this? Resident Evil got a 9.8 huh. might have to check it out, wish it wasn't for the gamecube though simply for the fact that i don't like their controller as much, particularily the shoulder buttons, but that's being really nitpicky though. I'm just petrified that it's going to lose some of its fear effect by reading the reviews because if it does it's just not resident. Nobody outright said it's not as scary but by reading some of the changes I feel there's a chance some of the fright factor might be gone. The reviews only seem to be concentrating on everything else besides the fear factor. Bottom line. Resident Evil without fright is like Benoit without the intensity. The two just don't go together. Let's just hope for the best. WP -- I'm curious about how many people are actually reading this thread and who you are. If you are reading it please just make a quick post saying that you are indeed reading. Thanks very much. All cooperation is sincerely appreciated. Crashed on the floor when I moved in This little bunk alone with some strange new friends Stay up too late, and I'm too thin We promise each other it's til the end Now we're spinning empty bottles It's the five of us With pretty eyed boys girls die to trust I can't resist the day No, I can't resist the day Jenny screams out and it's no pose 'Cause when she dances she goes and goes Beer through the nose on an inside joke I'm so excited, I haven't spoken And she's so pretty, and she's so sure Maybe I'm more clever than a girl like her The summer's all in bloom The summer is ending soon It's alright and it's nice not to be so alone But I hold on to your secrets in white houses Maybe I'm a little bit over my head I come undone at the things he said And he's so funny in his bright red shirt We were all in love and we all got hurt I sneak into his car's black leather seat The smell of gasoline in the summer heat Boy, we're going way too fast It's all too sweet to last It's alright And I put myself in his hands But I hold on to your secrets in white houses Love, or something ignites in my veins And I pray it never fades in white houses My first time, hard to explain Rush of blood, oh, and a little bit of pain On a cloudy day, it's more common than you think He's my first mistake Maybe you were all faster than me We gave each other up so easily These silly little wounds will never mend I feel so far from where I've been So I go, and I will not be back here again I'm gone as the day is fading on white houses I lie, put my injuries all in the dust In my heart is the five of us In white houses And you, maybe you'll remember me What I gave is yours to keep In white houses In white houses In white houses Still doesn't ring a bell, who sings it? If you are reading it please just make a quick post saying that you are indeed reading. Thanks very much. All cooperation is sincerely appreciated. Let's hope so. Time will tell my friend. WP -- Is anyone else a big fan of the "White Houses" song? "White Houses", never heard of it, who sings it? White Houses. Here are the lyrics. Sound familiar? Sorry about that. I forgoty to say who it was. Jessics Carlton sings it. Love the song. Want a picture? Yes, picture please. Sorry, I meant to say Vanessa Carlton Here's a pic! Hmmm, nice legs, but why is she hiding her face. Pussy, pussy. I mean fussy, fussy. Here's another pic! I wonder if she'd spread her legs as easily as that picture spread this thread topic! WP -- Always perverted Just as I thought, she's a butterface. You like butterfaces? I think she's pretty cute. Not as cute as me but than again who is? WTF? I like her face. Anyway, this has got me thinking about who the hottenst singer is. What do you think about Shania? Shania? yeah she's hot, very petit. I always thought Shania was tall until I heard differently about a year ago. Some guy was going to throw her out of a concert thinking she was a little kid. Than he had to be told she was Shania. All right, so who's the hottest singer now? Shakira, Twain or Carlton? With an ass like that, I'll go with Shakira. How can you not love a girl who does flying headbutts of the top of mountains? That's the type of girl you want to bring home to your parents. Trying to think of a real hot country music singer nright now but I can't think of her name. She's been on OTR before and had on a University shirt from some place in the Maritmes. Maybe Nova Scotia. Can anyone help me here? Just name off some female country music singers and I should be able to think of her name. Can't help you there, don't know country artists too well. No? Too bad. I wouldn't mind getting to know this Now that my friends is a but!!!! Reminds me of a figure skating but in that they are always perfect. It's because of the exercise they do. Guest The Ohtani of Time Report post Posted January 10, 2005 Eh, it doesn't matter with me most of the time, but there are shows where I won't watch the subs for at all(Slayers, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, unedited Kenshin, and any of the Tenchi series). Since we're on the topic of figure skating, I must say there are absolutely no actors or athletes that have better legs and buts than figure skaters. It's because of the type of exercise they do. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted January 11, 2005 I can't believe you told the weight bench story!! Not only that but I told it twice. Once in the LSD folder. Nobody knows wether I"m telling the truth, mixing half trues with lies or totally making it up. That's just the way I like it. Anyway, now it's time to go make sweet, sweet love to my weight bench with visions of Astroboy bras dancing in my head. Back to Astroboy, in the 80s series apparntly in the last episode which is the one where Astroboy falls in love at the end of it Astroboy originally was supposed to say at the end of it, "I'll be back" or something like that which would seem to indicate the series originally was supposed to have more episodes. Hmmm, that was quite a long setence.

Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted January 11, 2005 "Anyway, now it's time to go make sweet, sweet love to my weight bench with visions of Astroboy bras dancing in my head." Quote of the year. You should've heard what I said once I got down there. I used the line that works every single time -- Pegamania is running wild baby. What're you going to do when this 10 inch wing cums wild in you? (That line is trademarked by the way) That line has never failed me yet. It works even better once you tell the person you're talking to about your status in the internet wrestling community. Since we're talking about quotes here are some that were mentioned over at astroboy-online.com Astroboy: There's a moral here somewhere, but I don't know what it is. WP -- This was the end of the US? dubbed Astroboy episode where they talk about religon Uran: Mom! Jump is gone and his dog house is broken to pieces! Mother: Uran, have you forgotten to say your goodmorning? Uran: But this is important. Mother: You must say goodmorning first. Uran: 'morning. Mother: Say it properly. Uran: GOODMORNING!!! Astroboy: Mom! There are a bunch of huge footprints in the yard! Something happened last night! Uran: You have to say goodmorning WP -- I really liked this one. Good funny bit. THis is the episode where Atlas saves the life of Astro's dog There were lots of inside jokes in this show. Daddy Walrus: What! This is an outrage, you hysterical old battleaxe WP -- Can't remember where that one came from but I know I've heard it before The Robot Vikings): Astro: "Uran, stop playing with that dog! Have you forgotten about Jump already? Why don't you go to the hospital to see how he is?" Uran: "This dog is a lot better than Jump, he can sing and dance too. He even can play cards." Astro (Turns himself to the robot dog): "It's getting late time for you to go outside! You're supposed to be a watchdog, so go take up your post and watch!" The Lightray Robot: Astro reacts quite angry at Daddy Walrus for scaring Lightray off the Xmas party by spraying his legs with red ink. Astro: " He was just about ready to stay, now he never comes back!!" From the Very First Episode -- Funny bit where Astro's father is teaching Astro the ways of life Dr Boynton: Say you're sorry! Astroboy: You're sorry. From Atlas Forever US? Dubbed Version Atlas Forever, my favourite episode. KILI: This is the super megaton cannon. I developed it myself. It'll have a tremendous destructive effect on Atlas's omega factor. ASTOBOY: What will it do to him? KILI: It'll avenge my brother's death. ASTRO: Where am I? ELEFUN: A rescue centre near the UN building. We're safe now, but seventy percent of the city has been destroyed. There's been terrible damage, not only here, but all over the world. But with your help, the defence force has been able to hold off the first squadron. ASTRO: Dr Elefun, what's going to happen to us? ELEFUN: Well, the world leaders are all still in conference. But they decided we should put all our efforts together to save the Earth from destruction. They didn't say how to do that. LIVIAN: Atlas, if your brother were a human he would have shed tears. ATLAS: Astro, you stop here. I'll show them the power I've never shown you. If we come out of this, we'll meet again as brothers. ASTRO: Atlas! ATLAS: I don't know if your friends could ever be mine, but one thing I know. We were made from the same mold. You're my brother. If I live, I'll leave you, and the Earth, in peace. Uran's Twin episode Aka the Robot Wrestling Death Episode Astro and Daddy Walrus at the roboting match. Astro: "Woow, this stadium is huge!" Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted January 14, 2005 "Pegamania is running wild baby. What're you going to do when this 10 inch wing cums wild in you? (That line is trademarked by the way)" I stand corrected, THAT is the quote of the year. Astro: "Woow, this stadium is huge!" Daddy Walrus: "Now remember, we are only here to look for Uran". (after a while has passed) Daddy Walrus: "That's it! Give it to him!!" Astro: "Sir!" Daddy Walrus: "Well, er... I'm..." WP -- I'm curious about how many people are actually reading this thread and who you are. If you are reading it please just make a quick post saying that you are indeed reading. Thanks very much. All cooperation is sincerely appreciated. Remember this is now a Samurai Jack combined with an Astroboy thread so feel free to talk about Samurai Jack as well. Astroboy: There's a moral here somewhere, but I don't know what it is. Good quote, definately not somethin a robot without human emotions would say. Proof that Astro was alive The whole show has to be watched to get what the gist of the quote means. It's a comedy quote that plays off of what happened during the show. It'd be interesting to see if they use the same quote in the Japanese version. WP -- I'm curious about how many people are actually reading this thread and who you are. We went off the deep end there a little bit at some points. WP -- Really sad that his buddy's leaving in a week and a half. Not even my just completed workout could get me over it. I'm sure he's sad too. It's a sad, sad world. We can all take solace in the fact thought that Astroboy gives us all a common hero that we can relate and talk to. With Astroboy we are never truly alone as he is the link that guides all of our lives together. A common denomitar. It doesn't matter if you're a sexy green woman from Star Trek, male, female, aldut, child, animal or human. We are all different but yet we're all brothers and we owe it all to Astroboy for showing us that. For that I thank you Astroboy. And of course, I thank you too Benoit. But seeing Regina catch up in the official Astroboy post race does put a smile on my face. I can't wait for the next official vote counting. As of now, Monday NIght Jericho's doing well, the Ohtani of Time has been doing extreamly well, Regina's getting into the race and Ray is still hanging in there. What will the final result of this neverending race be? Stay tuned next week, same WP time, same WP channel, same WP thread for hints on to the exciting conclusion of the race that has even topped DEathrace 2000. But wait, if the race is neverending that means there'll never be a conclusion. Oh well, we just won't tell our viewers that. Benoit vs Jericho makes me happy as long as they don't have the Coach chasing Christy Hemme into the ring to cause interference like they did in the Benoit vs Edge match last night at the house show. Cool Anime News of the Day -- Highspots.com is offering the first 16 episodes of Tiger Mask on their website. I've seen the end but never the beginning so this is a good news. Once again, I would like to reccomend this show to all the wrestling/Tv drams fans out there. WP -- I'm curious about how many people are actually reading this thread and who you are.
