Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted January 6, 2004 I don't know if I should bother picking up NXM this week, cause they already gave away the Whole thing last Wizard! Should I get it for the sake of having it next to the rest of the run? Plus it's Silversti's return, so it may go up in value... What do u think?
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2004 Avengers #77, $0.25 Wow. Lowest comic book haul ever. I haven't bought comics in weeks because of money issues, but I think I can buy it this week. I'm just going to pick up the trade paperback of Silvestri on NXM. I like his art, but the story looks sucky.

If you've already got it, I wouldn't bother getting it again. Of course, since I don't get Wizard, I'll be picking it up... Avengers #77, $0.25 Exiles #40, $2.99 New X-Men #151, $2.25 Supreme Power #6, $2.99 Uncanny X-Men #437, $2.25 Weapon X #16, $2.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted January 7, 2004 yea, save the money for RoH this saturday! What did you mean by 90's speculator? I just started collecting comics, so i have no clue what that means.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2004 Every comic that was put out during the 90s was treated/marketed like it was going to be a great collector's item. The only problem was that they overprinted them and had another event comic each week which flooded the market.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2004 yea, save the money for RoH this saturday! What did you mean by 90's speculator? I just started collecting comics, so i have no clue what that means. What Steviekick said. Basically people would buy multiple issues of comics that were #1s, #0s, gimmick covers, or featured a chick with tight, skimpy clothing (real or drawn), in the hopes that the value of the comic would go up. Of course, when you print over 1 million copies of (New) X-Men #1, chances are that, due to it's availability, it WON'T go up. If you get a chance, read that "Life of Reilly" article, and some stuff about Valiant as well, as that will give you some perspective on the whackiness that was comics collecting in the 90's. Speaking of skimpy clothing, did you know that Adam Hughes charges $100 for a full sketch? I realize that he draws some fine looking women, but at the convention I was at last year, some of the Star Wars prequel hotties were there, and you could take pics with them for free. Guess which option I took?
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2004 $100 for a sketch is pretty steep. The sucky thing is that most of the time they only spend 10 minutes on it tops.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2004 I give Hughes credit for taking a lot of time with sketches, actually. For your $100 it's a full pencilled sketch, and he will take his time on it. The reasoning, btw, for the $100 is that people will put the sketches on eBay and sell them for at least double that price. So I see the reasoning for the high charge, but he's basically priced himself out of the range of the average fan and is now catering to... guys who resell the sketches on eBay. Anyways, for my money I'd rather get a free head sketch from someone - my current fave is the Speedball sketch I got from Darrick Robertson.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2004 Hahahah...that Speedball sketch sounds cool.
Sass 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 I think you should buy 2 copies. Who knows, maybe one day you'll ruin the one copy you own and the book might be hot. It's your $2.25. Y The Last Man #18, $2.95 New X-Men #151, $2.25 Sentinel #11, $2.99 Supreme Power #6, $2.99 Ultimate Spider-Man #52, $2.25 Weapon X #16, $2.99 - everyone needs to go out and check this book out. The whole run has been solid so far and this is coming from one of Tieri's harshest critics.
Guest netslob Report post Posted January 9, 2004 why doesn't Speedball have his own series? it's a fucking sacrilege.
