Markme123 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Royal Rumble: Philly SD!'s NoWayOut: San Francisco WrestleMania: NYC RAW's Backlash: Edmonton If Chris "gets the belt" in Edmonton", how will they go about getting him to RAW? Do you really think they'll go with the whole "Rumble winner gets a shot at HHH" route?
Guest PowerPB13 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 I'll be shocked if a Benoit title match in Canada DOESN'T end in Benoit being put in a Sharpshooter and Vince ordering the bell ot be rung. -Patrick
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 From Scott Keith's blog: Thursday, January 08, 2004 Backlash! Yes! On Byte This, they apparently announced that Backlash would officially be coming to Edmonton, and RAW in Calgary the next night. Road trip 2004! I hope to God Benoit wins the title at Backlash. I'll definetly be at Raw the next night as the Calgary crowd will most likely give him a monstrous ovation. Wrestlers don't win in their hometowns. I just don't see the logic then in having a PPV in Edmonton where Benoit is going to be featured in a prominent role and then lose. There are plenty of other places where they could hold Backlash, so the fact that it's in Edmonton says something. I'm not saying Benoit will win for sure but there has to be a reason why they booked the PPV there.

The problem is you're thinking in terms of real-world logic and not WWE logic, which dictates that people with actual talent are never to be pushed, hosses are to be promoted like crazy, and the end result is to involve a McMahon standing tall. -Patrick
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted January 9, 2004 I was just talking to my buddy, Rene Goulet, he says that Rob Van Dam is scheduled to win the raw brand title from HHH at the april ppv Actions speak louder than words. Reshad974 told me that WWE was going to have Backlash in Edmonton before it was announced on Byte This. He was also right on the news he previously reported in a post as it was confirmed in the Observer. This news scares me though. It's not looking good for the Benoit vs Lesnar rematch that I want sooo much.

El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 The so-called "best workers" in the company have never been the guys who hold the belt. It's all about overness/draw..or political pull. I don't see Benoit exactly setting the marks on fire, and he sure dosen't have the pull other people do. It'll be another Jericho reign. A whole lot of celebrating by the people who think he's the best thing in wrestling ever, and a lot of bitching when he loses.
humongous2002 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Benoit should win the WWE title instead of HHH's fake gold belt, i don't see why they can't do that. And if Benoit wins the Rumble that means he will loose at Mania, meaning that if he wins the rematch at Backlash (which is not one of the 4 BIG PPVS )his world title win won't mean as much , so all i'm expecting is for the Crippler to get a short world title reign because the bookers won't know what to do with him after he wins, the fact that he is everything Vince opposes(Benoit is not tall, has no mic skills and he is a great wrestler), and he doesn't have any pull with management. Last month, I posted some spoilers regarding NWO 2004, Chris Benoit, Summerslam 2004 and credited Raymond Rougeau. One week later, Meltzer told the same story. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 I'm confuddled here. I thought Lesnar vs Goldie was off because of Bill being given a "break" by WWE. And if Benoit does fight Lesnar at Mania, who's fighting Goldie? One thing I know for sure: This situation won't end up good for Benoit. Things like this never do. Guest reshad974 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 Well reshad, IF Eddie Guerrero meets Brock Lesnar at No Way Out like you said, then I'll believe your credibility. I have never said it will happen for sure. That was just tentative plan that could change many times before NWO. Meltzer does the same thing every week in Wrestling Observer and he told the same story few days after I posted here. Anyway, draw your own conclusions.... Si82 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 I don't see what you people have against this guy. I mean he has been right a few times now. With this Lesnar/Guerrero match happening I don't see why you shouldn't take him as a credible source. I'll admit at first I was sceptical about it but seeing as he has been right then I don't really doubt him.
