He was given nicknames such as 'Bubba' and basically compared to trailer-trash. Both Clinton's and Bush's public perception(hick vs. dumb) were mostly pushed by the 'lighter media' such as late night talk shows, saturday night live, movies, comedy, etc. Neither has been seriously depicted as such by the 'serious media' such as newsprint and televised news(this doesnt include fox news) although both have been on occasion. SNL never EVER hinted that Clinton was dumb. They played on him being a glutton and possible drug dealer --- but he was NEVER construed as being dumb. Not one single time that comes to mind. -=Mike exactly what i sad Mike, Clinton got cast as a fat trailer clown, Bush is played off as an idiot. I dont have any complaints about either. Clinton was heavyset, did grow up in a trailer, has a few undesirable kin, and acted like a Kennedy. From us. For my money, the FUNNIEST political thing I EVER saw on SNL was in 1991, when they had a Democratic debate to see who would be stuck running against Bush. Yeah and you oppose just about any kind of Democrat-backed agenda bill you hate children/eldery/minorities. It's a two-way street. I don't know if its an angle ever taken on him in America (i'd guess maybe not or at least much less so)) but i've increasingly seen Bush portrayed as a dangerously narrow-minded bible basher rather than a dumb fool.
