Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted January 10, 2004 Jericho w. Trish in his corner should fight Triple w. Ric. That would be off the pages if Jericho won the title with the most popular "diva" in his corner. It would cemenet Jericho as a big player, no doubt. Benoit won't beat Triple H...and rightfully so. Too many fueds with A Train and the FBI has killed any momentum he might have. But Jericho? That cat is money in the bank.
Guest rawmvp Report post Posted January 10, 2004 For those of you who care, in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer states that Vince McMahon has already chosen this year's Rumble winner, with the decision pretty much being engraved in stone. The winner will be Chris Benoit, who will challenge HHH for the Raw title at WM XX. Since Meltzer confirmed it, you can take it to the bank. YESS!!! The greatest technical wrestler of all time is finally getting his long-deserved due.

Kinda like Lex at WM10. PS. Benoit isn't the greatest technical wrestler of alltime.
Guest rawmvp Report post Posted January 10, 2004 Well, the Lex story is a bit different. It was printed on the front page of the New York post. The fact that the internet community -- a stark minority compared to the marks -- knows the Royal Rumble winner won't deter McMahon from pulling the trigger on Benoit's huge push. El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 You people do realize that this nullifies the HHH face turn that was being thrown around earlier? Meaning Trips dosen't have to job to Orton..and they'll do that program this summer. Benoit will lose the belt in his hometown at Backlash.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 Yeah, I know. When that greasy Italian pulled it out, your eyes lit up like it was the 4th of July. I knew you couldn't take it all, on account of how small your mouth is, and it even looked huge when you held it in your hands - you could barely get your paws around it... RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 But did you have to take it a step further by baa-ing like a sheep? I mean, for one, it's the wrong freaking animal, and for two, it pissed off a trio of Kiwis that were drinking at a table next to us which led to a massive bar brawl NOT TO MENTION that inch-long scar on the back of your head. Guest hhheld_down Report post Posted January 10, 2004 id rather see brock/beniot at WMXX than brock/goldberg but i guess if they think brock/berg is a draw, go for it. I cant wait to see how they explain Beniot going to RAW to get HHH's belt (not going to happen btw). I guess beniot could win the world title to try and prove he is worthy of getting another shot at the WWE title down the road, but then again how do you explain the jump without makin beniot seem like a wuss... BAH my head is going to explode, I know they will ruin this somehow. But I do drool at the thought of beniot winning the world title at WMXX and the wwe title at SummerSlam before the year is over. KingPK 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2004 To quickly push this back on topic: If it is true, then I'm going to ask Meltzer and those guys to shut their fucking mouths for once. Really, Benoit (or most anyone else) coming in at #1 and going the distance would make for a HUGELY entertaining and dramatic Rumble (it's one of the easiest storylines to write; just have the guy almost get eliminated about 40 times during the match, the fans would eat it up), but not when some net douche lets everyone know it happens before the event, that will just KILL any drama WWE was hoping to build up. This is akin to spoiling the ending to a good movie to me. I usually wouldn't say this, but I kind of hope someone gets fired for leaking this out.

It'll be dramatic because no matter what you know there's always a good chance of him losing.
Guest Deebo Report post Posted January 10, 2004 As much as I hate to say this, it's the truth. The regular WWE fan is not going to care which title shot Benoit is going after. They are just going to see him going after a title after winning the rumble and except it. And shit, I'M going to just accept it as it is. Do we really need to piss and moan about him not getting a shot at the specific WWE title? I'm much happier with him getting a shot at the World Heavyweight title, and a chance to headline the fucking WRESTLEMANIA XX, by far the most hyped Wrestlemania event EVER. That is, as Adam Sandler would say, "not too shabby". It's no time for us to get greedy. I am so much happier with him in the position he's in now then some midcard match thrown together at the last minute.
