Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 11, 2004 It doesn't say anything new really. It talks about building new stars, the aquisition of the new video library, expanding internationally, the brand split, etc. Then again, it also states the loss of Kevin Nash as a reason why it took a big hit. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2004 OMG! And it recently started a film business. It has two movies in development -- one based on Stone Cold Steve Austin -- and it also plans an animation series... OMG! Could it be Rock n' Roll Wrestling all over again? Steviekick 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2004 Then again, it also states the loss of Kevin Nash as a reason why it took a big hit. I was suprised by that for two reasons: 1. Nash had not been a serious impact on WWE programming or ratings since his return. 2. Nash really is not all that mainstream newsworthy.

thuganomics 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2004 Rock N Wrestling ruled! The only thing wrong with bringing it back is that the bad guys lead by Triple H would always win.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 And if World Wresting manages to groom captivating stars as wildly popular as those from professional wrestling’s heyday a few years back -- The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin come to mind -- the rewards could be much greater for investors. To understand the popularity of this sport, we checked in with a top professional wrestling star on the circuit right now, Triple H, a character played by Paul Michael LeVesque. In wrestling, Triple H is one of the baddest of the bad. But in person, he is a gentleman with the patience to explain professional wrestling to the uninitiated, like me. This should be good. First off, says Levesque, WWE is a big hit among fans because plot lines and characters portray simple, Everyman themes that strike a chord with WWE’s young, male fans. These include themes like getting the girl Huh? rebelling against authority, settling a score, comeuppance for the arrogant or getting one over on a tyrannical boss. Which are all essentially the same and repeated over, and over, and over... good vs. evil WWE hasn't had a face that was "good" in years. While loyal fans continue to support professional wrestling for reasons like those, investors recently buying WWE shares believe four factors will help broaden the appeal of the sport, and propel profits and the stock even higher. Brand expansion. BZZZZT!!

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 (edited) Sorry guys. This article had some errors that made it past publishing. The following is a corrected paragraph: First off, says Levesque, WWE is a big hit among fans because plot lines and characters portray simple, Everyman themes that strike a chord with WWE’s young, male fans. These include themes like belittling someone on their race, necrophilia, befriending a 500lb man, attending a gay wedding or pushing someone into a burning dumpster. jester 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 WWE is a big hit among fans because plot lines and characters portray simple, Everyman themes that strike a chord with WWE’s young, male fans. What young male fan couldn't relate to the touching "Vince pimped out Stephanie" angle? These include themes like getting the girl, Like how Angle stole Steph away from HHH. Oh wait. rebelling against authority, Like a woman who weighs about 120 pounds with bricks in her pockets getting stunnered by the General Manager for not drinking beer. good vs. evil, settling a score, comeuppance for the arrogant or getting one over on a tyrannical boss. Like how Booker got payback for the racist remarks. Oh wait.
