claydude14 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Saw this on 411... WWE is considering running an angle following the Royal Rumble where the winner of the Royal Rumble match decides whether he wants to face the RAW Champion or Smackdown Champion at WrestleMania. This will leave the door open for Goldberg to win the Rumble and go on to face Smackdown Champion Brock Lesnar, but also keeps things flexible. One option if WWE does not go ahead with the Goldberg/Brock Lesnar match is to have a Smackdown star, possibly John Cena, win the Rumble and then go on to feud with the RAW Champion (likely Triple H) for WrestleMania XX. WWE is considering moving Cena to RAW permanently and making him the brand's top face following WMXX since RAW will not have a major face then (assuming Goldberg does not sign a new deal with WWE). Credit: Pro-Wrestling Torch Newsletter Cena winning the Rumble to face HHH is something I like better than Benoit doing the same. Even if Benoit doesn't face Brock at WM, you know he's going to eventually. I really like the somewhat set storyline of Benoit wanting the WWE Title, not the World Championship. Plus, Cena's been talking about main eventing WM XX for a long time.
Mole 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 I was just about to post this. I don't see this happening at all. WWE is pushing the whole Benoit at number 1 thing, so I think he is going to win. Plus this is from the Torch, so I don't it will happen. Didn't WON say that Benoit will win the Rumble?
Guest hhheld_down Report post Posted January 12, 2004 with a report like this seemingly every week, and its all different (about a week or two ago it was gonna be edge/hhh, then beniot/hhh, and now cena/hhh) so I dont really trust this, ill believe it when it happens. Sad thing is the WWE probably still doesnt know what to do, and time is not on their side with the huge show little less than 3 months away. Oh well, i shall order WMXX anyway, just cause i have ordered them all since WMX.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted January 12, 2004 "RAW will not have a major face then..." Creative has conveniently forgetton about Jericho, I see. He's not totally a face yet is he? I mean didn't he and Christian just make buddy-buddy again? In any event I like the idea...it makes an angle where Cena can go to Raw and possibly win the title seeing as how they won't put him over Brock since they wouldn't put him over Taker...however in Brand switches they seem to ignore the "well he didn't beat him" fact. Also, what's to say they can't have Brock/Benoit at WM XX still? Brock will defend the title at the event. Way things are shaping up if all that is true it sounds like there will be. Cena vs Triple-H for the Raw title Benoit vs. Brock for the Smackdown title Angle vs. Eddy? Kane vs. Taker Jericho vs. Christian (if I missed Jericho's face turn it seems inevidable) I'd love to see Michaels and Matt Hardy given 15-20min together as well. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 I'd love to see Cena humiliate HHH on the mic. A Michaels/Hardy match never crossed my mind, but I'm not sure if I like that. I'm sure it'd be a good match since Matt is pretty capable and Shawn is, well, Shawn, but at Wrestlemania XX? I want Rock/Michaels.
Adam 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 I dont mind Cena/HHH, but as long as Goldberg fucks off and we have Lesner/Benoit. So, to add to FrigidSoul: WWE Championship: Brock Lesner © vs. Chris Benoit World Championship: Triple H © vs. John Cena Undertaker vs. Kane Randy Orton vs. Mick Foley The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels Eddie Guererro vs. Kurt Angle Chris Jericho vs. RVD (maybe IC Title??) and Im fucked if I know what the US, Cruiser, Womens or either tag title will be doing. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 The US title will make an appearance as Big Show wrestles Bob Holly in a non-title match, much to the delight of the Madison Square Garden fans.
Adam 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Nah, this is the US Title match: Fatal 4-Way Ultimate Submission inside Hell in a Cell: Big Show vs. A-Train vs. Matt Morgan vs. a returning Nathan Jones in his final appearance before REALLY retiring. Guest Loss Report post Posted January 12, 2004 RAW needs more heels, not more faces. With Jericho turning and Michaels, Booker, Goldberg and RVD as faces, the only upper card heels left are Evolution and Kane. If Benoit or Cena jumps too, it'll make it even more lopsided. They need to elevate Matt Hardy and turn RVD. That would balance things out.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted January 12, 2004 With the way that this story keeps getting reported, and the fact that about everyone contradicts each other, I have a hard time believing it. I am starting to wonder if someone is working the sheets on this one.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 This will leave the door open for Goldberg to win the Rumble and go on to face Smackdown Champion Brock Lesnar, but also keeps things flexible. This would be the worst possible outcome. By all accounts, Goldberg will be gone after WM, so having him win the rumble to face Lesnar is a waste of time considering the other storylines that could come out of other guys winning. Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Wow, another "story" thats nothing more than simple speculation. Look, I can make 'news' too: WWE has changed there plans yet again, although Cena/Triple H and Benoit/Brock are still set, Goldberg has apparently agreed to work Mania regardless and will have a match with Austin. The idea in the booking is Goldberg feels the only thing he has left to prove is that he can beat Austin, so expect him to be tweened for a few weeks until Austin agrees to the match. Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Wait a minute, I thought the winner of the Rumble was "locked in stone" and that the WWE & Vince were booked all the way up to Wrestlemania XX.

Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Wait a minute, I thought the winner of the Rumble was "locked in stone" and that the WWE & Vince were booked all the way up to Wrestlemania XX. It's the Torch. Remember how back in July, they said that the Survivor Series main event was going to be Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero? I wouldn't be surprised if they completely made up the "possibly John Cena" part to stir up discussion, because God only knows that there just HAS to be a new thread posted when every little bit of new 'info' comes from the rumor mill. Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted January 12, 2004 I wouldn't be surprised if they completely made up the "possibly John Cena" part to stir up discussion You can't make up speculation. You can call it news and have a herd of internet fans take it as fact, but you can't make up speculation.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 I'm starting to think "creative" just closes their eyes and throws darts at a dartboard to see who feuds with who now. I wish the WWE would quit saying " it doesn't matter who you are, anybody can win the Royal Rumble" No, they can't. I'll believe that when Rosey wins it or Spike Dudley

The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 I kind of like all these rumors. Hell if I know who's winning the Rumble this year. Unlike so many years past when it was pretty obvious. Exactly... I like being surprised rather than having the winner telegraphed weeks in advance. Right now, there are a number of different directions they could go that are all plausible. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Upon further thinking...Cena to RAW might work well. RAW needs someone who is strong on the mic and does bring forth a solid crowd reaction. Plus on SMACKDOWN he's stuck behind Angle and Crippler. On RAW, he really wouldn't be stuck behind any faces and him vs Orton could turn into a very interesting world title feud when Triple H goes movie searching Or it could just be I'd like to see Cena more often. humongous2002 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2004 Geez, you see guys the problem is that RAW has major babyfaces, like RVD,Jericho and Booker with the right push they could be world title contenders by Mania, but here comes the problem: they are not "WWE" major babyfaces.Vince still feels that since they were major stars in WCW or ECW that they don't belong in WWE main event level. No wonder the company is dying a slow death.
