The One and Only NFL Conference Playoffs Thread

Recommended Posts

T.O. and Keyshawn are the top names, and then theres the 2nd tier of Darell Jackson, Dennis Northcutt, Tai Streets and Dez White. Oh, and Mushin Muhhamed and Joey Galloway will be Free Agents too.

Keyshawn says he would like to play in Baltimore...

Dude, that looks REALLY bad. You can't jump from team to team like this. Go down with the Eagles ship and be proud you are on it and not jumping off.

And why are people writing off either of these teams? They both have similar defenses so it should be an old school battle.

Hey, the Eagles had a good run. They ran into some trouble and made stupid mistakes but they still had a good run.

And this is the 3rds straight year that they've had a "good run" after losing in the NFC Championship Game. At some point its not a good run, but a "disapointment".

I'm still with the Eagles. Dude I'm still pulling for the Eagles next year.

The Patriots are my avenging angel. My Eagles have been injured on the field of combat and are looking to the Patriot warhorse now saying "Avenge us! Turn those Panthers into a fur coat!"

I'm still with the Eagles.....I'm just looking for revenge from the Pats.

How long have you been an Eagles' fan, exactly? And why did you pick the Eagles? Seems odd for an Oklahoma guy.

Back when I was a kid I loved the 49ers but I always watched the Eagles to and always liked them. Now that I decided to start getting back into the NFL I watched all my old favorites play and I liked the Eagles the most out of all of them. I like McNabb.......I just love that dude......dammit.....

And for the last time. I'm still an Eagles fan. I'm just using the Pats for revenge for the Eagles.

The receiving core lost the game for the Eagles. It was downright sickening watching them miss, juggle, or drop passes. Duce Staley was really the only guy worth a damn on the offensive side of things. But people need to realise that the Eagles would have won the game if Favors wouldn't have cheap shotted McNabb. Up to that point in the game, the Eagles were pretty much controlling the flow of the game (aside from a fluke short pass td). The Defense played tough all game and did much better than people will give them credit for. Davis and Foster ran for some pretty big yardage but the fact that the defense only allowed 14 poitns speaks volumes considering how many times the offense turned over the ball. And Detmer? Did anyone truly think the Eagles were going to come back with that guy? There's gonna be big changes in Philly, but Reid and McNabb (who will be blamed) are the guys who really are not to blame.

Or lord, whining?

It wasn't a cheapshot. At all.

They hadn't SCORED up to that point, if memory served.

Oh, the receiving corps deserves a ton of blame.

But it's not like Donovan had a great game --- or that Reid called a good one.

The Eagles lost to a better team. Heck, they should have lost last week.

Donovan McNabb was ineffective starting on the Eagles first drive. Sure he would go and hit wide open targets, however most of the close tight throws were either behind recievers or not in a good position for the reciever to get a clean catch. Carolina was abusing the WRs in the middle of the field, like any good defense SHOULD.

As far as the injury to McNabb and the late hit. I will just pose this question, Did the Whistle blow? I never saw a Real-Time replay w/sound so I don't know. It looks to me (in my memory) that at the snap of the ball, Carolina got such a good push that McNabb fell backward due to a slight unexpected push, and the officials did not even see, and therefore did not blow a whistle to rule the play dead. Now since the whistle was never blown, naturally you are free to tackle the ball carrier and that is exactly what Carolina did. I swear I never heard a whistle. If a whistle HAD blown, then yes that was a late hit, but I don't remember a whistle.

Is now the time that I point and laugh at pinjockey?

I find it amusing that the Aints fan is the one to say this.

The hit was not a cheap shot. The whistle didn't blow so Favors did his job. I was more pissed that not one of the offensive lineman came over to back up McNabb.

The loss was certainly not McNabb's fault. He played well and could only be responsible for one of those INTs at most.

The DBs owned the Philly WRs, because of that they could tee off on the pass rush. Adding up to Carolina doing their job and winning.

If the Eagles do not sign Darrell Jackson or TO this offseason all hell is going to break loose. Even the normally sane WIP midday show was drumming up a sentiment of either Thrash goes or we go.

Thrash played miserable and he played miserable all year. I had that no catching joke on my fantasy team and he always had double drops to catches. His problem might be though is he is not a top two receiver, he is a three-four guy at best.

The Eagles need a solid receiver but I don't think TO is the guy. The Eagles may want to enter the draft, trade Thrash and someone else up to one of the top ten picks and grab Williams from USC, Williams from Texas or Larry from Pitt. These guys won't get up as much cap space as Key and TO will and considering how many players the Eagles seem to need, they may need the cash.

I know it may seem crazy to take a rookie over experience, but at least you know the rookie won't complain you aren't throwing him the ball enough.

The problem with Darrell Jackson is that he has a penchant for dropping passes. I'm pretty sure the Eagles don't need any more of that. Plus, I don't see anyone trading down a bunch of picks to get a guy like James Thrash. Some projecting Larry from Pitt as a top 5 pick. Thrash is so not worth a top 5 pick.

I can live with Jackson's drops if he will make plays.

What I would do is not trade up in the draft. I would sign Jackson, then use the 1st round pick on Jonathan Vilma and then use the second round pick on a WR (since there are about 8 or 9 legit WR prospects). It may be necessary to trade up in the 2nd round, but I would do that if necessary. Fuck give me Jonathan Vilma and either Lee Evans, Michael Clayton or Reggie Williams and I'll call that a good day.
