Ric Flair DVD Volume 2 DVD

Recommended Posts

Using the three-disc format from V1:

Disc One:

-------------

The Ric Flair/Lex Luger Feud

Ric Flair/Sting Clash of the Champions match

Ric Flair/Steamboat Chi-Town Rumble PVP match

Disc Two:

--------------

Ric Flair/Randy Savage Feud

Ric Flair/Mr. Perfect Feud

Ric Flair/Vader Feud

Disc Three:

---------------

Ric Flair/Hulk Hogan Feud circa 94-95

Ric Flair/Randy Savage Feud 2.0 (96)

Ric Flair/Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman angle

Best of Flair on Nitro promo collection

This would take things up to 1996 and fill in the various holes in the first DVD set....

I'd like to see the cage match vs Kerry Von Erich on there too. I think it was around 1982, but it's out of this world coolness.

A big "eh" to the Superbrawl match - it definitely wasn't anything special. Add to that the fact that they were following two consecutive **** matches (Sting/Luger v. Steiners, Arn v. Eaton)and you've got the makings of an ** classic.

The rest of the stuff you mentioned was pretty good, though.

Flair vs Bret Hart title change

That should be on a Bret Hart DVD, not a Flair DVD.

I'd like to see a 3-disc Bret DVD set before Flair Vol. 2.

Agreed. That match could, hopefully, take the place of the Iron Man from WMXII that is already available on HBK's DVD set.

Flair vs Inoki and Flair vs Kerry VE from 82/3 are not WWE property.

Kevin Von Erich owns the WCCW footage and I'd think NJPW owns the other.

I would imagine they could get it licensed.

Did they have rights to the AAA PPV for Rey Mysterio's DVD?

But did'nt the Flair vs IWGP champion lead to WCW making the International title which Vader held for some time period?

No, those were 2 different angles.

-Flair vs. Fujinami temporarily split the WCW and NWA titles (which had previously been held by the same person) when Fujinami pinned Flair in 2/91 in Japan. The Japanese ref counted the fall, but the WCW ref disqualified Fujinami because he'd thrown Flair over the top rope (an illegal move in WCW at that time.) Therefore, Fujinami was the new NWA champ and Flair was still the WCW champ.

At SuperBrawl I in 5/91, NJPW referee Tiger Hatori was the referee in the ring, while WCW referee Bill Alfonso was the backup referee on the outside.

-The WCW International World Title came about because WCW split from the NWA in September of 1993. As a result, the NWA dropped recognition of Ric Flair as its world champion (which he had been for two months).

So, Flair became known simply as the 'World Heavyweight Champion' while Vader reigned as WCW Champion (does this 'two champs' situation sound familiar to anyone? :D ).

Anyway, WCW later created its own made-up NWA-like 'WCW International Board of Governors' who controlled Flair's title, which they renamed the WCW International World Heavyweight Title.

(In storyline terms, WCW created a NEW PROMOTION out of thin air to recognize ONE TITLE.)

Anyway, the belts were reunified on 6/23/94, just in time for the belt to be all but awarded to Hulk Hogan the next month.

It's probably too old-school of an idea, but I'd like to see a section devoted to the random feuds & matches that Flair had while in the NWA ... e.g. Nikita Koloff, Ricky Morton, Magnum TA, etc. Just showing his ability to carry a scrub or half-talent to a really entertaining feud and match, the proverbial broomstick to a 5* match.

...yes, because it was co-produced by WCW.

That means Barr/Guerrero vs Santo/Octagon could theoretically end up on a WWE DVD... :)

I'd also throw on the first disc the Horsemen beatdown of Dusty Rhodes in the parking lot, as well as the Flair-Ricky Morton feud, starting with the confrontation on TBS, Morton's fluke win over Flair at the Omni which led to the dressing room attack, and finally, Morton nearly winning the NWA title from Flair before the Horsemen run in and break Morton's nose. Great stuff!

I also raided Keith's archives to find this RF Video comp which has another Flair-Steamboat match. If they can find this oldie, put it on the next Flair comp at all speeds!
