This is just weird. Is "Along Came Polly" even any good?? And Torque?? Geez! Thank God "Big Fish" is in there to keep it somewhat sane.

I'm alright with ROTK not being #1 anymore because it had a good run at the top and it's not going out of the top ten anytime soon.

2-4 are all really close, so there's a good chance when the actuals come in they won't look the same.

Plus there's Monday to worry about, since this is considered a 4 day weekend.

I'm sad Teacher's Pet isn't in the top 10, because the movie fucking rocks. My 2004's best movie so far.

And Along Came Polly was OK, I felt, nothing great but definitely way better than some of the shit we had as "comedy" in 2003.

Torque was actually a decent movie till the final 20 minutes, then it just went straight to hell.

Basically, it's a movie that pokes fun of "Fast and the Furious"

Some of the stuff

Ford: I live my life a quarter mile at a time

Shane: That has to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

But the final 20 just went straight to hell as they tossed out every CGI stupid item they could and just set reality on fire and took a leak on the ashes.

Good popcorn movie, better than FATF.

I thought Along Came Polly looked good, but I'm a Ben Stiller fan.

I'm interested in The Butterfly Effect, has anyone heard any reviews for it?

Yes, I agree with you. Great Action Scenes, but it had a weak plot(and lots of bloopers). I am suprised it made so much money because when I went to see it, there was like 5 people in the theater.

I used to try to get this out before you, but you always include what opened this week and what opens next week.

Have Kevin Smith movies ever actually made any money (which I'm assuming is your definition of successful in this instance)?

And on a side note in regards to the Butterfly Effect:

They probably could have just as easily cast Wes Bentley in Asthon Kutchers role and produced a hell of a lot better movie for a hell of a lot better money. That's just my presumtion anyways, haven't seen it obviously.

I believe the largest US box office for a Kevin Smith film is under 50 mill.

I'd say that Jersey Girl would beat that since it has broader appeal, but it all depends on if it suffers unjustly from whatever Jennifer Lopez backlash that may be present.

It's not like Ashton is getting big salaries. You don't get big salaries unless you're a proven draw and Ashton isn't.

We've never seen Ashton do a serious role, so it's unfair to judge him until you see the movie. I've heard many good things about it, so he must not be nearly as bad as people are expecting.

Must I remind anyone about Marlon Wayans in Requeim of A Dream?

Or Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love?

And for Kevin Smith's movies making money:

Clerks: $3,151,130

Mallrats: $2,122,561

Chasing Amy: $12,006,514

Dogma: $30,651,422

Jay and Silent Bob: $30,059,386

Well, the 4 day weekend estimates are out now, and LOTR is #2 with $12.7, Big Fish is #3 with $12.3, and Torque is #4 with $11.75 million. (Polly got $32.75)

I said Bentley just because Ashton has a very Wes Bentlley look going for him in the previews. And yes, there is potential for him to pour in a great performance.

And indeed, Marlon Wayans pulled that great Requiem performance out of his ass. Hopefully he can do the same in the Ladykillers.

Yuck yuck, RotK will beat Titanic's record, I just know it~!

I can't believe so many thought it would happen, it didn't have a shot.

I haven't heard anybody said it was going to. Titanic has over twice as much as the #2 film (Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone). What we said was that ROTK should easily takeover the #2 spot, and possibly get over $1 Billion (Titanic grossed approx. $1.8 Billion).

Someone did say it, even though their name escapes me right now.

I "saw" Along Came Polly this weekend.

By that, I mean we walked into the theater (for reasons still unknown to me; I thought we were going to see something else, but my friends have BAD taste in movies), sat down, and in about 10 minutes, I feel asleep. I dazed kinda in and out for a while, then woke up at about the 70-minute mark, upon whence both of my friends told me that they hated the movie. So I said "Why don't we just leave?"

For reasons beyond me, they REFUSED to leave the theater, even though they both hated the movie. So I got up, went to the bathroom, chatted with a buddy for a while, then came back about 10 minutes before the end.

So....I heard it sucked.
