JHawk 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 Chavo Sr has wrestled before for WWF I believe. Cawthon can give exact dates, but we're talking 1980 at Shea Stadium for sure. Anything more recent than that I have no clue. And it could still be considered his WWE debut if you want to get technical about it.

Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted January 23, 2004 Thanks for the review but I must say I thought the tag team handicap match destroyed the main event in terms of quality. Rhyno was on tonight and everything clicked together really nicely. Great action and pure excitement the whole way through. It's my WWE match of the year so far unless I'm forgetting something right now.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 They need to keep Chavo Sr. He's the best thing on TV. So stylin. They are Los Guerreros Cartel ( LOTC). They could build that up where Chavo Sr. is The General, Chavo is his crazy son, they can bring in Juvi who moves the drugs (but takes some for himself), and Albert can be their Gringo Bodyguard. I hate Kurt Angle's character. I hate his promos. I couldn't stand it; I was hypnotized by his head movement and nothing he says interests me. Don't credit them with Continuity if the announcers don't pick up on it and it's not played up in the storyline. Knoble and Nunzio are no longer related; especially if Knoble had to *pay* Nunzio, rather than Nunzio taking care of family. Chuck Palumbo and Bradshaw got my UBER-worker award(s). Chuck was stiffing Rey with those kicks and Bradshaw's lariat was sweeeeet. UBERWORKERS! Ok, here is my message to anyone who goes to Live Events - CHANT "PUMP" WHEN CENA IS IN THE RING! That's, next to General Guerrrero, is the best thing on Smackdown (it should be noted that everytime I see Benoit wrestle I cry at the possibility of him going to RAW, thus taking him off the list). So chant pump, and then -maybe- Cena will take a moment to pump his shoes. They really need to work that into the psychology of the match - have Cena slow down and need to pump up, and once he does he moves faster, so his opponent must try and deflate his shoes, and once they do he slows down. Why Can't Paul Heyman ever "win"? Would it hurt Vince too much if they could actually build him up as a powerful GM??? God I hate when Big Show takes out two guys (did it with Angle/Brock as well) as the WWE's lame attempt to get him over. How can he be the odds-on-favourite if he hasn't won a rumble before??? Cole saying "How can someone pick up the big show and throw him over the top" when KANE specifically did it, and Brock can F-5 him at will, and Cena can F-U him, and Angle can Angle slam him, is the sorta thing which kills credibility. Speaking of which, Heel Tazz sucks. Finlay and ACE coming out was fucking deadly. Finlay taking down Hardcore hardcare was fucking EBOLA.
Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 I rewinded my TV to see if Kurt Angle had been poked. Actually he was never poked. It looked like when he German Suplexed Chavo, Chavo landed on his head. It looked pretty rough. The ref through up the 'X' sign.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted January 23, 2004 They need to keep Chavo Sr. He's the best thing on TV. So stylin. They are Los Guerreros Cartel ( LOTC). Yes. That HAT~! just brought the whole thing together. He so totally needs to be the full time manager for Chavito and not so much tag team partner... cause then he could wear the HAT~! more. They should take a drug runner POWER BOAT to the ring. I hate Kurt Angle's character. I hate his promos. I couldn't stand it; I was hypnotized by his head movement and nothing he says interests me. I pay more attention to the head veins myself. The guy doesn't do serious or face well but when he becomes evil and joins the LOTC and looks like a El Gingo Loco without the fringes it will all be worth it. Knoble and Nunzio are no longer related; especially if Knoble had to *pay* Nunzio, rather than Nunzio taking care of family. Hey, family only goes so far. Even Tony Soprano expects Christopher to make bank every week. Anyway, the FBI are my favorite midcarders right now since its so easy to work them into any angle. Chuck and Nunzio rule... Johnny not so much. Chuck Palumbo and Bradshaw got my UBER-worker award(s). Chuck was stiffing Rey with those kicks and Bradshaw's lariat was sweeeeet. UBERWORKERS! I was watching the NEW WWE STYLES with Chuck working the leg and Rey being awesome and was all OMG psychology. Then Rey does cool stuff while still selling the knees and it was glorious. I was fucking shocked that Bradshaw sold for the Yaks myself and put over the 'They would have beaten me if it wasn't a triple threat deal'. Lariat finishers rule. Ok, here is my message to anyone who goes to Live Events - CHANT "PUMP" WHEN CENA IS IN THE RING! That's, next to General Guerrrero, is the best thing on Smackdown. Yes! And Rhyno finally woke up post injury and isn't sleep inducing anymore so groovy. Morgan is about as useless as could be, but with 50 other people running around the ring it was masked pretty well considering. Speaking of which, Heel Tazz sucks. Yup, totally not a natural 'snotty heel' at all. Finlay and ACE coming out was fucking deadly. Finlay taking down Hardcore hardcare was fucking EBOLA. Fit looked like he was actually kicking the hell out of Holly and I laughed.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 Shit, when Rhyno had the headlock on Cena and didn't work it for 5 minutes, I drew a big sigh of relief. He out-spinebustered Brock as well. Don't be hatin on The Bull - I love their Leg Drop/Back Breaker combo and they should get pushed because of it. Stupid WWE Tag Division. The FBI gimmick has so much potential and can kinda sorta fit into wrestling. Of course, The Cartel would eventually get mixed up in the FBI's affairs and The General Chavo Sr. will royally fuck the FBI up with his OLD SCHOOL thuggary. The FBI, then, brings in Don Bruno for help. The only thing I was annoyed at for the 3 Way (which, imo, people -including Jhawk- underrated), was that Yang and Sakoda started fighting each other - which was done on Monday with Steiner and Test. I would have preferred them just pulling each other off the pin, but refrain from attacking. Like the FBI, Kyo Dai (are they still called that??) has been underused in terms of reaching its gimmick potential. Kurt will become OLYMPICO when he turns into a Rudo, GOTTITT?! Why is Morgan on Smackdown? I just don't get it. Big Show makes his only novelty (size) look meaningless. Oh, and Morgans official title is "YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!"-man. Does he do (or say?) anything else??? And beardless Albert scares me. Ain't no way he can be the Gringo Bodyguard for The General with that look.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted January 23, 2004 Shit, when Rhyno had the headlock on Cena and didn't work it for 5 minutes, I drew a big sigh of relief. He out-spinebustered Brock as well. Oh yes, the wind up into the spinebuster was the bomb diggitty. Rhyno should have broken out his airplane spin though ... no wait CENA should do the airplane spin and then be all 'You can't see ME!' while the other guy is all 'Woah..." And then PUMP THE SNEAKERS. Don't be hatin on The Bull - I love their Leg Drop/Back Breaker combo and they should get pushed because of it. Stupid WWE Tag Division. Oh don't get me wrong, I got nothing against Johnny ... but I LOVE Chuck and The Nunz. Yes I do, belly-to-back suplex in your face Rey Mysterio. The WWE Smackdown tag division is like the polar opposite as the way I would book it. The teirs should be all ... WGTT - FBI - Bashams - Akio/Dakota - Scotty/Rikishi DAMN they need more face tag teams! Dude, just the idea of Nunz going into the Don's dark room on the night of his daughters wedding rules. Bruno has a great look for an older boss too, but he so totally has to have an orange in his mouth at some point. The only thing I was annoyed at for the 3 Way (which, imo, people -including Jhawk- underrated), was that Yang and Sakoda started fighting each other - which was done on Monday with Steiner and Test. I would have preferred them just pulling each other off the pin, but refrain from attacking. I thought thats what they did? They basically went all tag team until Sakoda knocked Shaw out of the ring with the knee. Then Yang tried to sneak one out and they fought for like twenty seconds. Then they were going to team up again (since Akio was all LOOK out to Sakoda before Bradshaw kicked him in the face) but Shaw pulled out a flash win. Kurt will become OLYMPICO when he turns into a Rudo, GOTTITT?! He should be Oylimpico GOLD and then have masked flunkies SILVER and BRONZE (who would be a MINI!) And they should have his outfit with tassles. Why is Morgan on Smackdown? I just don't get it. Big Show makes his only novelty (size) look meaningless. Oh, and Morgans official title is "YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!"-man. Does he do (or say?) anything else??? I don't know Morgan is like the invisible man. He's huge but I don't think I should remember him existing. He should show up at every Smackdown and have everyone be all 'Who the fuck are you? You're big and should be a wrestler'. And beardless Albert scares me. Ain't no way he can be the Gringo Bodyguard for The General with that look. The made Albert UGLIER~! HOW IN GODS NAME CAN YOU MAKE ALBERT UGLIER! Grow that beard back in, take out the lip piercings, but that guy in a white suit, sunglasses and a pimp hat and he'll be ALBERTO LOTHARIO. Fear him!
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 ::sniff:: All this FBI love...I love you guys ::wipes away tears:: C'mon, group hug! Guys? Where you goin'? Anyway, Chuck looked to be pretty stiff w/ Benoit last week (or was it the week before?). Re: Knoble/Nunzio continuity - they may not have mentioned the "being related" storyline (which has been stricken from the record), Cole at least referenced Knoble's inheritance money. Guest Goodear Report post Posted January 23, 2004 Chuck is great as a thug type of guy since he keeps his moveset so simple. He doesn't do flying space tiger drops and such because... well, he's a street thug and street thugs don't do cartwheels. Live the gimmick Chuck. Live it. Johnny the Bull does the same sort of stuff but he's not as polished as Palumbo yet ... how weird is it to say the words, "not as polished as Chuck Palumbo"? Guest Coffey Report post Posted January 23, 2004 I read it, which to be perfectly honest was the first time I've ever read one of your recaps. Why do you have to give all the wrestlers lame nicknames? Just curious as I'm sure there's backstory to why. I do, however, like your layout more than Dames'. It's a lot easier to follow. At least to me.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 I liked Smackdown this week. This is the second straight week where I haven't had any real complaints about the show. The audience definitly seems to be enjoying it more and most things are clicking, which is a real improvement. Smackdown has a long way to go to live out it's full potential, but I'm liking the steps that have been taken. Unfortunately, whenever WWE has a streak of good shows like this, something usually happens to ruin it and they go back to where they were. With Wrestlemania in the near future, I'm afraid that Smackdown may once again be contaminated with the presence of Hulk Hogan.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2004 Don Bruno makes a deal with Don Killer. Vince McMahon wakes up with an ear in his bed. I had the perfect idea for Rhyno and Morgan standing in the corner while Brock was beating up Cena - Morgan does the "you can't see me" thing, and Rhyno ACTS LIKE HE CAN'T SEE HIM. Albert and Spike will be the new SUPERFACETEAM if Spike moves to Smackdown. Just think of it, A-train and Railway Spike - it's PERFECT. Spike plays Morton and Albert has the offense to work the hot tag. Cena and Benoit make for a pretty good team (though Cena's hot tag offense bites the big one - Benoit should get that duty, he rolls through folk), it's a shame they'll probably be broken up soon. Orlando Jordan and Shannon Moore actually made for a swank team on Velocity a couple of weeks ago - Ultimo Dragon and Paul London would be an interesting combo to try out. There are 3 face teams they could add to the division; of course, they'd have to be given a tag name and tag finishers to be a true tag team. A-train and Railway Spike can be called The New England Express, Moore and Jordan can be Morlando (or, WILDFIRE), and Ultimo and Paul can be called The Dragonfly's. Yang and Sakoda actually hit each other though, that was my problem. They didn't go _as_far_ as Steiner and Test did, but I still think they went too far. It was nicely booked, as it didn't make them look too weak, but it was very predictable in how it was arranged. Olympico GOLD with his new team Angle Silver and Bronze is good, but the mini is named OLYMPICITO (capital letters are a must). It's the new Team Angle - or as the Rudo stable - Los Buenos Individuos. And tassles are a must. ALBERTO is gold; he needs to grow a lil bit of hair on his head - it doesn't have to be a lot, just enough to see.

JHawk 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2004 Why do you have to give all the wrestlers lame nicknames? Just curious as I'm sure there's backstory to why. Honestly, there's no real rhyme or reason for it. You'll notice that most of them are somewhat based in "reality". "King Brock I" -- Brock was the last King of the Ring winner. "The Too Damn Big Show" -- he's too damn big. "Ape Train" -- well, I stole that off a sign at one of the PPVs (No Mercy I think). I was actually worse with the nicknames when I was doing Raw full-time as I hated about half the roster and didn't think they deserved to get a real mention. I know what happened in the match, I just wanna know what you thought. I care like that. Well, I did want to use the play-by-play format CRZ used for those people who didn't get to see the show. I was without cable for a few months during Russo's first WCW run, so it was nice to get more than a barebones review of the show. But knowing that people who saw the show don't want to read all that, I came up with the commercial break format. That way everybody can just come to me, whether they want the whole shebang or not. So there you go.

JHawk 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2004 I don't quite get this concept of "being considerate of others"... I know the words, I know their meanings; but putting it all together... it's jibba jabba... Well, just a tip about being considerate to others: WWE doesn't do it for their fans. I think I'm more fan-friendly than a former Fortune 500 company.
