WWE Releasing Cena DVD in March

Recommended Posts

OK, first off, let me say that I'm a big Cena fan. I even got into "vanilla babyface" Cena somewhat when he first came in, because he was someone new getting a shot. I've liked him as both face and heel.

That said, they own the WCW rights, the ECW rights, Smoky Mountain footage has made it's way onto DVD, and they're putting out a Cena DVD NOW!?!? What about a Benoit DVD, a Bret DVD, or great RAW matches from the past 10 years? I understand it's part of Cena's push into the mainstream to get more well known, but c'mon...I think it's a little too soon for this.

Thoughts, comments, etc.?

If I recall, Cena eluded to this being a Rap DVD since his CD comes out very soon (around Mania time) and this DVD is just a special bonus thing with outtakes and videos of various freestyles and shit...It's not a fucking WRESTLING dvd...

I can't think of a single match that Cena has had up to this point, that in any way makes me want to buy a DVD of the guy.

Come on, you don't want a DVD with all his great matches...er...match?

That would be against Angle(the No Mercy one) where he got many favorable reviews...

Choken may be right (I haven't heard the rumor myself so I can't confirm, I'm taking his word on it), because where I saw this (in today's Observer update) there was no match listing or anything. It didn't say anything about the raps though.

Let me get this straight.

They're gonna release a video of the fuck ups and studio time of a fake rapper?

Well, I think this will fall in line with Lesner's DVD. I mean everywhere you read all the love that 619, Bloodbath, Michaels from the Vault, Flair's DVD, and Foley's DVD get and nothing about Lesner's. This is because NOBODY was waiting for Lesner's matches on DVD and I think this will fall true with Cena's. There just won't be any matches on there that people just LOVE.

and it'll sell more then Benoit's dvd ever could dream of.

There's a MARKET for something like that?

Well, I won't be buying it. What could it possibly contain that I would care about? Up to this point, as Downhome kind of mentioned, all of John Cena's matches have sucked. Not only that, but I think his gimmick is the pits and I never like his "raps."

I don't really have anything against John Cena himself, but I have to agree that this DVD is coming out entirely too soon. Not to mention all the other stuff that could've came out first.

John Cena has a good look, good crowd response and seems comfortably on the mic. He needs to get a better gimmick and improve his wrestling skills (not to mention actually win a match that matters) before a DVD for him is even considered. Regardless of if it's just a DVD about his behind the scenes shit to help shill his upcoming CD.

I feel hardcore wrestling fans are the ones who buy these dvds. That is why Ric's DVD did so well. I feel a Crippler DVD would do better than rap mistakes. If anyone would rather watch an hour of fuck ups over 6 hours of awesome wrestling I will personally find out there favorite sports team and have Carl Linder buy it. Trust me that is just about the worst thing I can think of. One more thing, Fuck Carl Linder, Fuck UDF and Fuck your insurance company. You killed baseball in Cincy you piece of shit, I hope you suffer and then die.

I was hoping I wasn't the only one who saw the absurdity of charging $25 for a blooper reel.

Admittedly, I didn't think his match with the Undertaker was all that bad. Of course, the wrong man went over and the Undertaker kicked out of everything. Of course, that only makes John Cena look bad to internet fans. Marks don't notice nor care about that shit.

Well somebody is buying the fluff dvds of RAW X, the titan tron videos, dumb shit & blooper skits.

To me it looks like instead of making a best of smackdown dvd in the vein of best of raw vol 1-3, WWE is making several best of dvds featuring individual superstars angles.

I wish WWE would start an ECW style dvd series, with the best of the promotion as a whole, not just individual wrestlers. I like the individual wrestler series but there is also room for a best of a promotion series. How awesome would a best of WWF or WCW series be?

I'd like to see some matches of his from OVW especially when he was tag team partners with Rico and when he won the OVW Heayvweight Title from Leviathan (Batista).

If they did then it would feature an even more green Randy Orton?

so many asskick dvds could be made before this one...best ofs for Bret, Owen, Horsemen, WarGames, Midnight Express, Clash of the Champions, the Big Event, Vader, histories of championships, etc etc etc.

does Vince have any rights to the ecw fancam footage?
