So, now how does Benoit get to Raw?

Angle isn't much of a face worker, I agree.  I honestly think Benoit-HHH could be ***-**** just based on Benoit alone, with HHH trying harder than usual to look good at Mania.  Benoit is going to do the work of 5 men, and hopefully Hunter will bring it.

Benoit will do his part, no dobut. It's up to HHH to dictate a lot of the match though. He'll be the one hitting all the offence on Benoit while Benoit will be doing the "I'm never going to give up" schtick. Heels tend to lead. Faces tend to follow for the most part. It's why Benoit's matches tend to be better when he's a heel. I imagine this match will be more preplanned than normal for a Benoit match though. Patterson could add some ideas which'll be interesting. The Mania match will be great but I don't think it has the potential of what a Lesnar vs Benoit bout (Currently, the probable best match possable given the current situation in the WWE. Other wresters could possably have as good a match but they're not really up high enough on the card to do so) would have at Mania. That's one of the things that really bothers me about this whole bittersweet scenario. Benoit and Lesnar wrestled that Smackdown match purposely as a prelude for a better match down the line and unless they're doing Benoit vs Lesnar at Summerslam it's a shame Benoit and Lesnar got their knees chopped out from under them.

HHH will bring it but only as much as his body will allow. It seems too coincidental that he's wrestling Benoit on the big stage. That right there says that HHH wants to be remembered for having the best match on the grandaddy of all Wrestlemanias. HHH's tough and he obviously does care about putting on great matches so I completely expect him to do whatever's necessary in this bout. You can tell he has that hunger. The eye of the tiger.

As long as they keep it just between the General Managers, Benoit really doesn't lose face by going to RAW.

Benoit for Goldberg makes the most sense. On Smackdown, Heymen says that he swore Benoit would never get a shot at Lesnar's championship and even though Benoit won the Rumble, he is going to do everything he can to make sure that doesn't happen. Over on RAW, a pissed off Goldberg runs wild over the show, demanding that Bischoff (or anyone) do something so that he can get revenge on Lesnar.

A week or a few weeks later, the trade is revealed. Bischoff decides to trade Goldberg because he is causing problems on RAW by only wanting Brock. Heymen gets rid of Benoit but he also pisses of Lesnar by bringing in Goldberg. So in a sense, Heymen is actually the "loser" because while He got rid of Benoit, he had to piss of Lesnar to do so. It also puts Benoit over even more because Heymen was willing to make Brock mad just to "beat" Benoit. Benoit wins because he still gets a title shot. From the WWE's perspective (and storyline wise), both heavyweight championships are on equal footing. So he gets his title shot while Heymen trades on "problem" for another one.

That scenario doesn't cheapen Benoit's quest or make him look weak in any way....

yeah and knowing that bastard he will. I mean Backlash is in Edmonton so i am guessing a bullshit Benoit wins by dq win at Mania, followed by a Benoit win in his hometown. But knowing the WWE triple H will squash him both times

Except for that part at Mania where HHH beats Benoit clean w/ the pedigree. That could be a bit of a problem.

I don't know, LOTC. I think HHH's too smart to do that. Just like when he lost to the Undertaker he knows when to lose. Losing to Benoit won't hurt him and beating Benoit will hurt him. That's the key. The thing that puts everything up in the air for me though is that Backlash is in Edmonton. It's hard to say where things are going to go. Could Benoit get through two PPVs against HHH? Perhaps, perhaps not. Is Summerslam confirmed for Toronto yet?

You know, I could really see them doing a "Career vs Title" match at Edmonton but that would give away the winner. Or would it? :(

If Benoit were to somehow win and retain the Raw title after Backlash, I don't think that would get him out of the clear of having to still deal with HHH. Keep in mind, Goldberg destroyed HHH at Summerslam, but didn't win the title. So then he beat him cleanly at both Unforgiven AND Survivor Series (which was basically back-to-back PPVs, since No Mercy was a SD event). Despite this, You-Know-Whhho won the title back in December.

Here's one for you to consider: Outside of his little month-long feud with Michaels (go figure) that culminated at SummerSlam 02 and , HHH has not been in an angle that didn't involve a world title since his quad injury in May 01.

(I realize his No. 1 contender match in Feb. 02 wasn't a title match, but for the purposes of this argument, I'm going to say that is tangentially related because it was a small piece of his "Road to WM" storyline in early 02).

You know something, people are just gonna have to realise that this is gonna happen whether you like it or not. Complaining isn't gonna get you anywhere.

That was quick. I mean, I know Benoit's Rumble win was underwhelming to say the least...he really didn't tell, or didn't get the chance to tell, a decent story throughout like Jericho, HBK and Flair did in the past. But still...already we're throwing out the bitch card about HHH/Benoit? I would have at least expected SOME celebration, considering this is all everyone on here has been PLEADING for for the past 4 weeks. Not to mention Benoit eliminating Henry and Angle eliminating Goldberg.

Oh well.

This won't please anyone whatever happens. And we're resigned to the bitching over this from now till Mania. It's gonna be a LOOONG Road to Wrestlemania...

It's not our fault that WWE dropped the ball.

Again.

no they haven't but they apear to be fumbling it, and it looks like it's about to drop. I just can't understand why the WWE would drop the Benoit/ Brock storyline which has been going on for quite a while and is the focus of Smackdown! HHH vs. Benoit owuld be good, but nothing compared to Benoit vs. Brock. It would cheapen his title shot at WM to have it against HHH because HHH has not been the one trying to stop him from getting the shot, Evolution hasn't been his enemy. It's been Paul Heyman and Lesnar. He hasn't got a story with HHH and hence the match would be degraded as a result.

The only reason I see it happening is because the winner of the royal rumble gets the MAIN EVENT at wrestlemania. HHH missed out last year and one can assume he wants it this year.
