Kardo 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 I'm not sure how the Oscars work but I'm pretty sure that even if Bubba gets the wide major studio release this year that it will not be eligible next year, which is a damn shame. When you want to talk about original screenplay, NOTHING can be as original as Elvis in an old folks home with a black man who believes he is JFK hunting a mummy that sucks souls from old people. I mean, what the hell is more original that THAT? Ossie Davis was just as outstanding as Campbell and I was pushing for both of them to get a nod but I knew they had no shot after the Golden Globes ignored them both. Best picture? No way. Best actor and supporting actor roles? They both at least deserved the nod over some of the big names. This years nods just looks like a whose who of Hollywood while smaller names got shafted. I could write some screenplay about a flying capsicum which kidnaps dogs and turn them into turnips in order to ally those turnips (who are a common ally of capsicum after all) in order to win their war against tomato and lettuce everywhere. However, due to disgust from dogs by being turned into turnips against their will, they employ the Grim Reaper to kill the flying capsicum but it betrays the dogs and every living thing on earth simultaneously combusts. Vyce 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2004 I've seen a lot of surprise that Hughes from Whale Rider got nominated for the Oscar, and I suppose that is a bit of a shock......but I have to say - I've seen the movie, and the little girl really does do a fine job in that film. Die Rote Jacke is only 20 minutes long. It's nominated for Best Short Film, Live Action.
