Guest hunger4unger Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 The Smackdown brand are touring Newcastle, Sheffield and Glasgow the week after WrestleMania. Tickets are on sale on Feb 14th. Anyone going to go? I'm going to attempt to get tickets for the Newcastle show.

If you want your lasting memory to be how you got broken in half by a near-300 lb amateur wrestling champion in the three seconds it took security to break it up - then yeah. Personally, I don't get the point of going to a British show. It doesn't get shown on American tv, so nothing will happen. It'd be like going to see a taping of EastEnders that will never make it to the air and doesn't have any bearing on actual plot developments. Even American house shows have only had one title change in recent years (Booker/Christian, and they were forced into that one). If I knew for a fact they would be showing something really quality like 100% Angle vs Eddie, or something of that ilk, then maybe. Otherwise... meh.

I understand that nothing major occurs at a UK show but attending a live event and seeing wrestlers (some of whom I have admired for years) in person is something I don't want to pass up.

Instead of seeing clashing GMs, endless Austin skits and the like, I was sorta hoping to see some entertaining wrestling matches... I've heard that because it's not going to get shown on TV the wrestlers are allowed to pretty much book the matches however they like, so I might get to see some different spots and moves, or maybe even (God forbid) some cruiserweight matches of a decent length. Plus it'd be an experience, I guess. What did you think of the shows you went to, Ravman?

Guest ravman77 Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 I really enjoy the houseshows, mainly for the reasons clean rob listed (ie. no Austin pissing about, Bischoff skits etc). Instead you get pretty tidy 10-15 minute matches. At the Smackdown tour in Sheffield last year there was a WGTT vs Rey/Rhyno match that I swear was one of the most entertaining I've ever seen live. Plus, most of us despite the gripings of the product are big WWE fans and if they tour the UK and I can get there, I'll make the effort. Its the same as footie really, I love watching matches on Sky but nothing beats being there in person.

Sure, nothing major is going to happen, but its a good couple hours of entertainment and as a first timer, you should enjoy it. You can even buy some of the merchandise if you can afford to.

Guest Mr. Adam Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 It's not the Wrestlemania Revenge tour but I picked up my tickets for the WWE show in Dublin on the 26th of May. Without any promotion on WWE television the tickets sold out in like five minutes. I was second in line after queueing since like seven o clock and when the guy in front of me got his tickets at nine all the best seats had been taken! I did get really good tiered seating though, which made it somewhat worthwhile.

Whilst I'm still looking forward to going as it will be my first live show, I can't help but wonder what matches we're actually going to see. I'm looking forward to seeing Eddie (complete with big gold belt) wrestle, but who's he going to be up against? No Lesnar, unlikely to be vs. Angle, Big Show perhaps? Given the fact that Smackdown have lost a LOT of top talent recently (Benoit, Lesnar, Angle to an extent), I'm really hoping they'll ship over a few decent Raw workers as well. On a seperate note, does anyone have any idea what the likely finish time for the show is? I think my last train back is about 10:40, but I don't want to miss anything. Also: anyone from Newcy know any decent pubs near the arena?
