The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2004 (edited) If you have pop-up killer running...or if you're brave enough to endure them clickhere I found it at Wrestling Observer's site too...so click this one instead: here This is the TNA related bit: "Sir Adam brings up how Dustin will be teaming up with his dad, Dusty Rhodes, very soon. Dustin said he spoke with Jeff Jarrett last week about coming in with his dad to NWA TNA in Nashville." That's all it says...but seeing as TNA likes to use Dusty every so often...I'd have to imagine this will happen sooner or later, if Dustin is interested. Si82 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2004 From the interview - Dustin then said he had something on his mind that he wanted to get out. He said he would still be the "Lonestar" Dustin Rhodes in certain places, but had an idea for a new gimmick. Dustin used an example of how rock stars start out in small venues and then they make it big and get a gold record. Dustin said he has done Goldust and that character has now been put on the shelf. He continued using the rock star example, saying his gold record is on his wall, but he keeps going everywhere around the world and continuing his success and pretty soon...that record goes Platinum. Dustin said in a sense, Goldust has just gone Platinum. Wasn't the "Platinum" thing supposed to be his gimmick when he first returned to WCW or when Vince Russo came to power? Do you think he is going to use this as his new gimmick?
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2004 I would like to see him come in TNA with another gimmick. Since Russo is back, he should be able to come up with something good for him. I do not want to see him as the "lonestar" redneck.
Silence 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2004 Since Russo is back, he should be able to come up with something good for him. Like "Prayer Boy" Dustin Runnels again? *rimshot at Russo's "founding of religion*
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2004 I still like the idea of turning AMW heel (which I really want to see) and feuding them with The Rhodes'

Thanks for the help anyway.

The Thread Killer 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2004 Next time you create and copyright something, we'll see if you let someone else use it and make money off of it while you get nothing. It's called business. He might be a douchebag, but he's a douchebag with a billion dollars. There are a few problems with that argument. 1) McMahon didn't create Goldust. Russo did, with input from Runnels. The whole "quoting from movies" in promos thing was Runnels idea, as was the name Shattered Dreams. From an artistic and creative standpoint, that probably gives them as much right to the gimmick as it does McMahon, and if they actually wanted to spend a million bucks and years in court, they could fight it. McMahon knows they won't. The Ultimate Warrior did. So did The British Bulldog...and McMahon actually gave him and Dynamite that name. Smith just took co-credit for the idea, and copyrighted it, so he could still use it in WCW and elsewhere. 2) If McMahon wanted to be civil about (I know he won't...but he COULD) he could sell the gimmick to Runnels, or charge him "rent" on it, just like HE had to do to use the name "Hulk" for years with Marvel Comics. 3) Even if McMahon DID come up with the gimmick, Runnels made it work. If he had no talent and charisma, it would have flopped like 99% of the other gay stereotype characters that have been used in wrestling. McMahon owned the Diesel character, but who made it work...Kevin Nash or Glen Jacobs? When an actor puts his own thought and talent into a role created by a writer, doesn't that give them SOME ownership of the character? 4) McMahon could have a trillion dollars or a buck fifty. He's still a douche.
