Jobber of the Week Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 There's actually a few stories of some really dirty tricks coming out about the Iowa race... and we all know why he lost NH. Oh? Do share, if you can (though you make it sound like it's public material.) EDIT: Oh. Never mind. Sounds like a lot of accusations without any real source. GQ is hardly the nightly news.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 I posted it already... And the push-polling done by other candidates is a well known fact as well.
Guest MikeSC Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Conflicted with the AP report I posted which says Dean is down to 5 million. I woudl assume the AP got that figure from somewhere and not out of thin air. Am I the only one who thinks backstage at the Dean campaign looks A LOT like the Wizard of Oz set? -=Mike
Jobber of the Week Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 And the push-polling done by other candidates is a well known fact as well. Err? Sorry if I don't live in Iowa and didn't get all this news. I don't think Dean has a shot, but he could still stage a small comeback. I lost my interest in him after all the lying about his money coming from "regular people" who just sent him a $25 check.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 EDIT: Oh. Never mind. Sounds like a lot of accusations without any real source. GQ is hardly the nightly news. You're absolutely right, it's not the most reputable source. However, the fact that it happened isn't being disputed as much as who was responsible for it. Trippi thought it was Kerry, and I concur (after the bin Laden ad bought out by a 527 being run by "former" Kerry aides, I've come to expect this from Kerry's camp). You, however, can think what you want.

I lost my interest in him after all the lying about his money coming from "regular people" who just sent him a $25 check. How is it a lie? Does he get ALL of his money from grandmas and little kids giving their lunch money? No, of course not. Neither do Kerry, Edwards, Clark, or Bush, for that matter. However, some 90% of his contributions are less than $100... which is a lot more than you can say for most campaigns.
MrRant Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 I'm sure you can just distribute that big $10,000 check to a few people to make your less than $100... or didn't you know that?
kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Fast forward to the days before IA: Trippi's "cell phone rings. It's his pollster, Paul Maslin, who not only has bleak news out of Iowa -- but bleak news out of New Hampshire. Trippi hangs up and stares out the window. His phone rings again. "WHAT? Aw, fuck. I hate this business. This fucking sucks. Okay, thanks." He hangs up. "They're robocalling our ones," he moans. "He has just gotten a report from the field that Dean "ones" are getting bombarded with computer-generated phone calls telling them to make sure to caucus for Dean-then giving them the wrong address." Who would do such a thing? "Kerry," Trippi snaps. "They're the only asshole snake campaign that would do it. Every frickin' day now, I'm reminded of why I got out of this in the first place." Out of all these calls nobody managed to record one?...

kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Well, if they're getting "bombarded" I'm sure at least ONE person would make a note to record part of this taped message. I just brought this up because of a flashback years ago when that old couple just so happened to pick up Newt Gingrich's cell phone conversation and just so happened to record it. That's all...
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 (edited) http://abcnews.go.com/sections/Politics/Th...lls_040117.html You're right, someone did record it. Push Poll? A third Iowan, Dick Peterson, told ABCNEWS he received a phone call about two weeks ago from an organization claiming to be a polling firm unaffiliated with any candidate, in which pro-Kerry and anti-Dean information was conveyed. The Alexander call, should it have happened, would meet the definition of a "push poll" — a call purportedly from an objective polling firm that actually seeks to "push" voters away from candidates by spreading negative information about them. The Kerry campaign insists it is not using any anti-Dean scripts. "Not in a million years," said campaign spokesman David Wade. At the end of any election, many campaigns are eager to both make such calls and accuse others of doing so, casting them as engaging in dirty tricks to energize their supporters and to turn swing voters off on their rivals. During the 2000 GOP primaries, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., charged then-Gov. George W. Bush with making "push call" phone calls against him. His campaign soon retaliated with recorded anti-Bush calls to Michigan voters that did not disclose their affiliation. Edited January 30, 2004 by Tyler McClelland

Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Yeah, and that deadly, constitutionally devoid bill that you so often scorn came along after that and made it illegal.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 You're right, someone did record it. See? I outta be working on Howie's campaign...
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 And we do invite you to come over to the dark side...
Guest MikeSC Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Yeah, and that deadly, constitutionally devoid bill that you so often scorn came along after that and made it illegal. It was actually illegal before that bill. -=Mike ...Watergate did change things, ya know
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Fair enough, my mistake. The point is that it's illegal either way, and they've cracked down on it with the CFRA.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 And we do invite you to come over to the dark side... I just want my pay in advance. Oh, crap. I think I just sent this post off as a "report." God why does that button have to be so close to the "quote" button?...

Guest Howard Dean Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 There is a job for you in the Dean administration. And Marney. And Jimmy Dean, my choice for Secretary of Agriculture.

Vern Gagne Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 There is a job for you in the Dean administration. And Marney. And Jimmy Dean, my choice for Secretary of Agriculture. Um Howie. Marney said she wanted you to win for the benefit of President Bush.
Jobber of the Week Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 However, some 90% of his contributions are less than $100... which is a lot more than you can say for most campaigns. Yes, but he says that his CONTRIBUTORS are people that have only sent in a small amount. He does get a lot of small donations, but not from different indivduals. He has a larger amount of people who send in $25 again, and again, and again.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Yeah, most of the small donors have continued to give.

MrRant Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Yeah, most of the small donors have continued to give. You must be drinking that expensive sugar-included Kool-Aid aren't you?
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Of course, it's a lot of he-said she-said stuff. However, as I said before, I've seen a pattern of this shit and it usually leads back to Kerry. The first example was the 527 and the latest is this push-polling, which reportedly is also going on in SC and NM. Kerry's original campaign manager, Chris Lehane (who now works for Clark) was known as an incredibly dirty campaigner (he also consulted for Gray Davis). They kept much of his original staff on, IIRC. It's not too difficult to put 2 and 2 together.
