I went to see Big Fish last night. It was a really good movie. Karl the Giant is played by Matthew McGrory who is 7 feet 6 inches. When Edward is telling the story of when he first met Karl and he comes out of the cave, he doesn't look to be 7 feet 6 inches. After the movie me and my friends were debating wether they made him look taller and how and different possibilities. So if ya know if they made him look bigger or what share it. Thanks.

Of course they made him look bigger in the flashback sequences of the film. The entire premise of the film is about Ed Bloom telling various stories about his life, and just exaggerating when he does so. So when telling the story about the "giant", he says that he is much bigger than he actuall is/was. You know how it is, just like when people go fishing and catch a big fish, they come home and say it was THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS big.

At the end of the film it shows that the story of Karl was true to an extent, he just wasn't as big as Ed Bloom made him out to be, he exaggerated. There are quite a few ways to make someone like taller/bigger and shorter/smaller in film.

Thats what made me think, at the end when he is standing around the people he looked half the size he did in the story. I just didn't get thinking of the explanation. I saw a late showing after spending a day at the mountains. I was kinda tired. There are a few gaps I have to fill I guess.

If you're asking how they made him look taller, there are a lot of different movie tricks they could have used, including camera angles and such. They probably had McGregor acting on his own and used closer shots of McGroy and then mixed the films together.
