Austin vs. Hogan at WrestleMania XX

Recommended Posts

Guest rawmvp

It's one of the last "true" dream matches, Austin doesn't have to bump too much, it's very appropriate for the biggest show ever, and the heat would be utterly insane.

Do you think it will happen?

And if it does, will Hogan gladly do the job?

If the match does happen, is there a chance the crowd might turn on Austin just like they did on Rocky at WM 18?

I think it could happen, but I doubt Hogan would agree to job. I doubt Austin would agree to either.

Won't happen because Austin's neck and upper back are still too screwed up. That chokeslam from Kane was pretty soft and yet he got pretty sore and stuff from it. If he ever wrestles again its still a year or a year and a half away from happening.

Hogan isn't going to come back to do a job to Austin unless he gets paid millions. Especially since the recent spat he had with Vince.

In short it won't be happening.

Oh Yeah? Trust me, the Russian girl is very real. Everything that I've said in LSD is true...well, except for that cat-licking-coochie part, which I took the liberty to include for hyperbolic reasons ONLY. The peanut butter WAS applied to her hairless cooch; however, it wasn't for sexual purposes. Apparently, in addition to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, women also use peanut butter as a beauty product -- from what I understand, it gives the nookie that "younger, tighter" look. Women use the darndest things to enhance their appearance, some of which also include toothpaste (to treat zits), as well as preparation H and guacamole (to alleviate the wrinkles on the face).

Amazing, isn't it?

I don't understand the "dream match" appeal behind this one except that both guys were phenomenally popular inside the company. But this isn't exactly Hogan/Andre in terms of dream matches here. It's more like Rock/Goldberg, where you assume it has to be a dream match because people will be emotionally into it due to the popularity of the competitors, but there's really no history or shock to it.

So you put both guys together in a match. Okay, it'll be a draw, though workrate it'll probably resemble the worst Austin/Taker matches. Why are they fighting, when both guys are well known for being babyfaces?

The Hulk Hogan character doesn't work as a heel with his cartoon nature. You could turn Hulk into Hollywood sans nWo, but that doesn't hold the nostalgia value.

So what do you do? My only guess is that Austin needs to return to his incredibly over original heel persona. Not the guy who puts his wrist to his ear and repeatedly says "WHAT?" I mean the guy who beats the shit out of backstage interviewers, wimpy jobbers, etc. Then have Hulk as the good boy babyface who wants to teach him a lesson. It's a stretch for a 50 year old Hogan to play the guy he was 20 years ago and look believable, but it could work.

But you got one problem. Namely, Austin isn't going to turning into a tough-as-nails heel anytime soon while chasing around people in an ATV.

So basically, yes, they could pry it in there at the very last minute if they wanted to. But it would be one of those hollow "could have been more" angles that everyone talks about excitedly for the next month afterward but promptly forgets about after that.

Let's all hope to God it DOESN'T Happen.

I want WMXX to be remembered as a good event. Not a geriatric and a cripple trying to steal all the heat away from guys who are finally getting a shot to be in top matches (Benoit, Guerrero) on the most heavily promoted card of the year.

Hogan vs Austin could draw but it wouldn't be a good match storyline wise and here are my reasons why....

1. The fans would be confused who to cheer for

2. Hogan couldn't be the heel there neither could Austin

3. Vince wants to Ref it, which wouldn't make any sense at all EVEN FOR THE WWE!

4. no one would want to job and most likely end with some sort of DQ

The way you do Hogan/Austin:

Vince announces he's found a way to get rid of Hogan/Austin, two guys that have given him no end of problems over the years--have them fight each other in a loser retires match. With some kind of hardcore stip so they don't actually have to wrestle.

(yeah, Hogan was only a problem to Vince as of a few months before WMXIX, but work with me here)

The emotion in the match is that two guys who actually respect each other (though they probably don't in real life) have to regretfully kick the shit out of each other.

After a bit of blading and brutalizing, the two respect each other too much to continue, so they both deliberately pass on chances to pin each other. Vince demands a finish, so they deliberately count themselves out, staring each other down all the while. Double count out finish, because face it, politically neither guy will want to job.

Vince is livid and declares that since they both lost, they are both retired forever, blah blah blah, until next week when JR, Foley, or somebody comes up with some retarded excuse to bring them back to squash Jericho or Christian, as usual.

I wouldn't want to see it, I hate matches with offense clashes, and that happens anytime Hogan wrestles now.

The fans need Austin vs Goldberg, both guys know it, so I figure if you have Goldberg next year, you make everyone happy.

Hogan would come back if WM's buyrate did good. If Brock/Goldberg is the main. No Hogan. :)

And thank God for that.

I don't want to see Hogan's orange, shriveled up ass scooping anyone's heat at WMXX. I honestly don't want to see him there. Not for Nostalgia. Not for anything. I just want to see him where he's at now: at home telling all kinds of lies on how he tore his lat muscles slamming Andre at WM3.

Hogan's a fag.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone tear into Hogan like that........a little repressed hate?

Christ, someone's a little bitter. You don't need to be jealous of Hogan having the muscles to lift a 400.....no wait, 500......700......wait, wait, it's changed again......a nearly 800-POUND man almost off the ground......wait, completely off the ground....hold up, I mean OVER HIS HEAD and slam him to the ground. Hogan is TRULY an immortal with a story that never changes, so you should respect the man, brother.

With the sarcasm out of the way, I wouldn't mind seeing Hogan at WrestleMania XX even in a wrestling capacity. Up until WM8, Hogan WAS the icon of WrestleMania, so the show would seem just a little empty if he wasn't there.

Hogan wasnt at WMX, and he shouldnt be at WMXX.

He sucks, cant work, milks the heat from the more deserving and more reliable, and is among the most delusional men ever.

And,... thats a shoot, brotha. ;)

Thank God that Brock can't draw just so the payoff is shitty and Hogan doesn't come back?

Smarks: This is why we should be running the business aspects of WWE

Who cares if he was the ICON of WM? This is WM XX, the future of the WWE. Vince needs to focus on the FUTURE stars, not the PAST stars.

Hogan vs. Austin should never, ever, ever happen. Both men have nothing good to give to the company anymore. Hogan isn't a draw anymore, so it would be a waste of money to waste all of that money on him. Plus the fact the match will suck.

What would Austin and Hogan do, dueling ATV's on the top of some building in NY?..And then the Big Show comes and throws Hogan off the roof to avenge the same thing happening to him many moons ago. Yeah, who doesnt want to see that?

1. In the words of Vince, this match has NO CHANCE IN HELL~! of happening:

a. Austin does not want anything to do with Hogan

b. Hogan and Vince are having a relationship spat

2. Neither man needs a match, or this particular match for their respectable careers; In other words, no point.

3. I hate to sound biased, but for some reason, I agree with DangerousA in that Hogan sucks. No, I won't rant on his politics because, fact is, everyone has politicked. I just never, ever fell in love with the character like everyone else did.

4. Austin is slowly ruining his legacy, and I hate to see him acting out this "Redneck Superman" persona, at the expense of other wrestlers.

Case in Point: I don't want to see this happen.
