OK, this Taker crap...

I actually like the angle. As long as they don't put any trap doors in the ring and have Taker appear mysteriously in Kane's lockerroom mirror, I'm fine.

I don't think the special effects are corny at all. Like someone said, it's all very markish, so try to just sit back and enjoy it.

I am not exactly sure why Kane fears Deadman anyway. I mean they have feuded before a bunch and Kane got the better of him a lot of the times. Also couldn't wwe do something better with the video vigenettes then blurry images of kane's smirk? Or at least change the video everytime.

Probably because *every* time Kane has crossed the Undertaker, it has resulted in Kane getting his ass handed to him military style.

I doubt the outcome of this feud will be any different either.

What bugs me is that last year they went through a lot of trouble to kill of the Kane/UT mythos and now they just suddenly bring it back.

I enjoy it because I seriously seriously mark for the old school Taker. One of the characters that really got me into wrestling and the first character i looked at and went "DAMN that's a fucking monster" (this was in 1993 mind you)

I want druids and all that other crazy OLD shit. I want the fans at ringside with the wreaths, and the omnious music.

What I don't want...is the Ministry. Any of it. No symbols. No crucifixions, NONE of that. NONE.

Seriously, when the nominations for the 2004 year-end awards start, someone please remember this thread. I don't think I've heard as many stupid, unintentional, comments placed in a single thread in my time on the internet... and I've been to some pretty dumb boards.

As not to completely flame this thread, I like the crap that they're doing and I'm not a Taker mark. They're actually being somewhat creative and aren't half-assing it; I can appreciate that kind of effort. It sucks that they had to make Goldie play second fiddle to it all, considering him vs. Brock is a featured match at mania as well and I was kinda diggin the match him and Kane were having in a very "poorly laid out, not very smooth, but they hit each other hard and that's cool" kinda way. I mourn the loss of Undertauro.

The crowds are totally into it, despite what we think, and at the end of the day thats all that matters.

It's funny. Everyone looks back on Taker rising from the dead at RR '94, and Kane's lightning bolts a couple of years ago, and laughs at this shit and calls it "WrestleCrap". Then when it happens in 2000 AND FUCKING 4 you all mark out. Madness.

I quite like it but I'm kinda mystified that the smark community is going for it considering 3 months ago they were raping the company for Kane's surviving flaming dumpster thing. Vince said "people will just have to suspend belief" or whatever and everyone was like "fuck off you senile old fucker" and now they're echoing that exact same sentiment.

But I suck... ignore me.

It's just good clean mindless fun. RAW needs some of that. It's creative, the video packages have an eerie feel to them and even though it's purely silly, it's entertaining.

The crowd only cared about that last night, they basically wanted to leave when it became Evolution hour and so did I.

Believe it or not, the fans LIKED old school Taker when he was still around. It's awesome to be part of that light dim segment live and that alone is enough to make me consider going to a live event.

But hey, if you didn't like it then you didn't like it. I found it more fun than that piss poor final hour with fat ass Triple H and the bore squad of Flair-Batista-Orton.

Yes, *everyone*, because us Smarks are all exactly alike and all share identical opinions on everything wrestling related.

For the record, I'm such a hardcore Taker mark that I legitimately loved the 'rising' angle they did in 1994, as well as the awesome supernatural powers of Kane.

I like the Taker stuff...it's fun to watch and remember back to when I was younger and the Taker gimmick was in its first run. Isn't wresting supposed to fun? Or is it supposed to be boring and dull so we have stuff to bitch about?

Also, I find it slightly hypocritical that they banned Helms from performing the chokeslam because he's "too small" for the move to be credible (despite his character being a superhero), yet Taker is back to shooting lightning & making the ring smoke.

And, yes, I get that Helms just thinks he is a superhero, and doesn't really have superpowers, but I don't think we're suppposed to believe that Taker is really undead w/ supernatural powers, either.

I was nine at the time of the 1994 rumble. The Undertaker's rising thing scared the absolute bejeezuz out of me. I mark for the supernatural powers thing because I find it very entertaining. I mark for Old School Undertaker because Biker Undertaker sucked. Biker has progressed into a better character than his original debut, but I usually found his redneck ramblings annoying, his catchphrases stupid and his work in the ring sub par.

HHH has definately put on weight. People had been talking about it and I hadn't noticed, but he looked horrible at the rumble, completely out of his usual shape.

Well, when the most exertion you get is taking on milquetoasts like Spike Dudley, it's no wonder HHH is channelling the Pillsbury Doughboy. He'll probably chalk it up to spending too much time in front of the TV "studying old wrestling tapes". Yeah, right.

Not to derail this any further, but didn't Rico look kinda winded too in his match with Dupree? He was moving rather slow and none of his moves looked anywhere near crisp. Looks like he's on the HHHoagies and HHHo-Ho's diet, too.

He has a gut and an extra chin.

Stupid or not, anyone who expects anything remotely realistic from Taker's character is deluding themselves.

If it was anything or anyone then Old School Taker returning that was responsible for this, we'd all be up in arms. But then again, Old School Taker was always the kind of character people would think was awesome, in the kind of way 'un-realistic' movie characters and movies are.

Leave it to this place to have someone that finds a way to bitch about not only the things being done wrong, but also done right.

Well I personally like the angle but what a lot of you people need to realize is.......you can't please all of the people all the time. Get over it......there will be someone to bitch about something NO MATTER what. That's life.

Well they don't have to enjoy it if they don't want to.

I think we should be happy because remember...........Deadman Taker sold more than Biker Taker.

Yeah tell me about it, when I watch pro wrestling, I want reality.

Well, it depends what you mean by reality. Jericho wanting to get with Trish is not 'reality'. Brock Lesnar being afraid of Hardcore Holly is not 'reality'. Hell, if you want to keep going on, the punches being thrown are not 'real'.

Realistic was the wrong word on my part. It's not just about 'reality', it's about being believable.

Why stop w/ lightning? Taker can shoot "death rays" w/ his eyes - he just has to look at his opponent, and they'll fall down, w/ Taker getting the pin. Show vignettes of Taker "flying" through the air. Have Kane studying magic so he can learn spells like "revive" or "heal" to cast against Taker during their WM match, since anybody who's ever played an RPG can tell you that undead creatures are weak against such spells.

Now those are some good ideas. If it makes people stop looking at the product like it shoudl be an infalible take on reality, I'm all for it.

What did people expect when you lose a buried alive match? Maybe they should have brought in Tim Matheson to dig him up so he could be Aly Sheedy Taker.

And why would Kane be afraid? Because by storyline, he BURIED HIM ALIVE. I don't care how tough you are, you bury someone alive and they come back for you...you are going to be a little worried about it.

I'm liking it.
