Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted February 7, 2004 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WWE House Show Results from Saitama, Japan 2-7-04 (HHH vs. HBK) Submitted by Tom Guzik on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at 9:59 AM EST WWE is currently at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. *Stacy Keibler came to the ring to welcome the crowd. *Christian pinned The Hurricane with the Unprettier in 13:24. *WWE Intercontinental champion Randy Orton pinned Matt Hardy with the RKO in 14:28. *WWE Ladies champion Molly Holly pinned Lita with a rollup on 17:24. *WWE World Tag Team champions Ric Flair and Batista defeated The Dudley Boyz when Batista pinned D-Von Dudley on 24:57. *Chris Benoit defeated Chris Jericho via submission with the Crippler Crossface. They did a lot of back and forth wrestling exchanges and reversals in the early minutes of the bout. Benoit hit his series of German suplexes. Jericho hit a missile dropkick from the top as well. The best match on the show thus far. Match went 21:46. *Eric Bischoff came out and was interrupted by Steve Austin. They did the entire "What?" deal. Bischoff ended up drinking with Austin and then taking the Stone Cold Stunner. Austin called out Stacy Keibler to drink with him. Randy Orton and Matt Hardy hit the ring and were stunned as well. The Dudley Boyz hit the ring and hit 3-D (my report didn't specify who was on the receiving end). Hurricane came out and they all toasted each other with beer. Sumo champion Konishiki was sitting at ringside and given a beer as well. The show is currently at intermission. As it progresses, I'll be receiving more results. Keep checking back! *Kane pinned Rob Van Dam with a chokeslam in 10:45. *Rico pinned Test with a spinkick in 8:27. *WWE World champion Triple H pinned Shawn Michaels with a pair of Pedigrees at 26 minutes. Said to have been an excellent match. WWE announced that this event was to have been the highest grossing non-TV event in the history of the company. I expect them to announce an official figure this coming week with a press release in the United States. Credit: PWInsider.com
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 7, 2004 Nice. Jericho/Benoit should have their own fucking tour... HHH/HBK has another good match? Sweet. Matt Hardy is a Face now? Why was Rico so high on the card and against Test of all people? I really wished they just released these things on DVD. Here's what REALLY pisses me off 13:24. 14:28. 17:24 (for a fucking WOMEN'S MATCH!) 24:57 21:46. 10:45 8:27. 26:00 When the shortest match on the card is the alloted time for a Main event on Raw...That just pisses me off... Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted February 7, 2004 I wish WWE would release these shows on DVD. The past few house shows in Japan sound better than some PPVs.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 I really wished they just released these things on DVD. Who'd buy these shows, though? House shows obviously have no bearing on actual WWE angles, so these releases wouldn't cater to ANY casual fan or non-smark.
humongous2002 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 *Kane pinned Rob Van Dam with a chokeslam in 10:45. WWE keeps on mistreating RVD and then they'll wonder why he won't renew his WWE contract.

They don't have to advance angles and storylines on house shows - not to mention house shows don't have a strict time limit to follow per segment (and I'm not taling about match time). Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 7, 2004 They released the European PPV's and that RARELY had any effect on the angles as well...
Fökai 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2004 They released the European PPV's and that RARELY had any effect on the angles as well... They did horrible business - were they even promoted alongside the U.S. PPV's or profile videos? My argument doesn't necessarily mean that I don't want these DVD's to be released - because I do - just stating why it's logistically hard to sell today. Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 7, 2004 It's not like it will cost WWE a fortune anyways to release A Japan Tour Highlight DVD, where they can have 10 matches from the tour and just have cameras follow a couple wrestlers around (Jericho for his humor and knowledge of Japan along with Matt Hardy)... Hell just use it a couple matches for the next confidential DVD then...
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted February 7, 2004 DVDs of these tours shouldn't be too hard to market. WWE could just advertise the DVDs as containing "never before seen matches."
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 7, 2004 exactly...If there is a market for the DIVA DVD's there is a market for a collection of International Matches.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted February 7, 2004 According to puoresupower on the 2/4 they noted that Fuji TV will be taping the 2/5, 2/6, 2/7 shows and they will have exclusive rights to the footage. The plan is to air highlights on free TV and no-cut footage on the J-Sky Sports Satelite. According to puroresupower.com on the 2/5 Fuji TV was setting up equipment to tape the 2/7 show. There were American cameraman for at least the first show so it looks like the WWE was definitely taping stuff. Maybe a Confidential piece? perhaps a spoiler from puroresupower.com They shot an angle in Odaiba, Tokyo with Austin and Bishoff at an autograph session. The entire WWE crew was there to film it. They closed the place down after Austin KO'd Bishoff. The fans were told to come back on Sunday for more autograph signing because they closed the autograph signing after that. Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted February 7, 2004 WWE keeps on mistreating RVD and then they'll wonder why he won't renew his WWE contract. Yes, because jobbing on a house show to a bigger star is being "mistreated". Oh, and RVD will renew his contract. Didn't he say as much just a couple of months back? Guest OnlyMe Report post Posted February 7, 2004 *Kane pinned Rob Van Dam with a chokeslam in 10:45. WWE keeps on mistreating RVD and then they'll wonder why he won't renew his WWE contract. Oh please. How is losing a house show match "mistreating" someone? He could have been on offense for the previous 10:35, and Kane got a desperate, but deadly move in. For example. If it's going to be aired uncut in Japan then I'll just buy the show(s) of a puro tape dealer.

Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted February 7, 2004 *WWE World Tag Team champions Ric Flair and Batista defeated The Dudley Boyz when Batista pinned D-Von Dudley on 24:57. Any news on whether this match was any good? I've always been in favor of long tag title matches, even when 1/2 of the participants (D-Von and Batista) are pretty shitty workers. Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted February 7, 2004 *Rico pinned Test with a spinkick in 8:27. WOO! Sadly, Rico's push seems to only be to push Miss Jackie as a possible Playboy centerfold.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 8, 2004 I like the term "ladies' champion." It sounds classy.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 8, 2004 Matt Hardy is a Face now? Nah. If I had to guess, they realized that Orton/RVD bored Hirohima, so they tried to find someone who was not doing anything and would be able to carry Randy.

House shows obviously have no bearing on actual WWE angles, so these releases wouldn't cater to ANY casual fan or non-smark. The realese the UK PPVs and those suck, why not these with GOOD wrestling. Just put: "BENOIT VS. JERICHO! HHH VS. SHAWN MICHAELS! NEVER BEFORE SEEN" on the cover. It sells itself.

Yes, because jobbing on a house show to a bigger star is being "mistreated". Oh, and RVD will renew his contract. Didn't he say as much just a couple of months back? No kidding...he's been treated much worse than jobbing to Kane at a house show. It's not like that's suddenly going to make him say "you know what? I'm fucking out of here!" Guest NANIWA* Report post Posted February 8, 2004 If anyone wanted to know, the gate for the event was $1.6 million. Ringside tickets went for around $265. And like it was said earlier, this became the highest grossing gate for a non-televised WWE event in the company's history...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 9, 2004 If Vince was willing to let that Pesky Time Difference thing slide, He could make INSANE amount of money if he did a actual PPV there...Just take Vengence and send it to Saitama...
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted February 9, 2004 If Vince was willing to let that Pesky Time Difference thing slide, He could make INSANE amount of money if he did a actual PPV there...Just take Vengence and send it to Saitama... But it's become apparent from this 3 day tour that the specialness of the WWE is wearing off. There were lots of empty seats during the tour.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 9, 2004 true...but if you Hyped an ACTUAL PPV there...They would come in droves since it's not a HOUSE SHOW but an acutal fucking PPV. Hell, I don't see why they can't have Smackdown Taped there...
