Notice how Naibus hijacked the thread. Starts off with Jericho's old promo being referenced, then ends up like this.

See: Besus. I said he was TripleHater who was banned shortly before he showed up, mostly due to the similar and unique typing habits, but nothing was done. And this isn't a baseless acussation; I've identified more than one PBP here.

 

EDIT: I just saw a thread where Goodear addressed Besus's flame-baiting presence and I found it to be a sort of 'non-threatening warning' which Besus no-sold since nothing was... you know... actually done about it. If we're going to have three new mods they need to shit or get off the pot. Take some action.

 

And by the way, this applies for "HHHate" too, as well as other forms of flame-baiting. Downhome can contest to that - I criticized him in the past over a clichéd anti-HHH sig.

 

Not the best evidence in the world- but there you go.

 

 

Also- Naibus didn't hijack the thread.

RVDMARK4:20 actually had a post that served a purpose, but as far as the rest goes, you're right.

 

So what do I do in situations like that? That's what I'm asking. Close the thread? Delete it? Delete all the topics except for the initial posts? Issue warnings? Is all that necessary? That's the purpose of this thread. I'm trying to create as much of an open discussion here as I can so no one can act shocked when I take the action I have to take later on.

Nothing wrong with the 'WWE Signs New Announcer' or 'WWE.com Stupidity' threads. Both stay on topic while poking fun at stuff. Quite frankly the announcer thread keeps on topic quite well only branching off a bit to talk about other writers which isn't a problem. The 'WWE.com Stupidity' thread is fine because...well have you been to the website? Its absolute fluff where they make it appear as though their shit don't stink. Both are acceptable.

 

'Chris Jericho Was Right!!!' thread brings up an interesting point about how history is repeating itself. The fact it was posted by a person who has a little over 30 posts is what gets it written off by others I believe. How about giving it more than 4hrs to see where its headed?

 

humognous2002 certainly is flame baiting. Just send him a PM warning him to keep that stuff out of the WWE folder. Tell him he can go and make fun of Besus in HardCore discussion all he wants, hell alot of us might join him. Just keep it in HardCore discussion.

 

UYI and RVDMARK:420 aren't insulting eachother at all. Its simple banter that didn't go anywhere. If that's grounds for something then the next person who calls somebody a "doo-doo head" would be tarred, feathered, and then banned.

 

So in closing, all the threads in question are fine thus far and humongous2002 just needs a PM telling him where it is ok to make fun of Besus. Then tell him if he wants to get Besus' attention over there to PM Besus with a link to the thread in HardCore. Easy as that.

"HHH plans after WM XX": Same as above. Besus didn't get drawn into a flame war, so maybe the new rules are working. If that was an "estabished" poster, then that flame would be written off as just a sarcastic comment. Maybe delete it, but I don't think theres any real point. Just keep an eye on the guy for further comments.

 

"Edge confirmed for RAW, So says Dave Meltzer": I saw nothing. Was it deleted?

 

 

"CHRIS JERICHO WAS RIGHT !!!!, Back in August 1999 !!": It was a stupid thread, and should probably be closed at some point. It's just one persons opinion, and nobody can really add anything of note to it. The "Is Jericho British or Canadian" looks like a dumb joke, but maybe I just don't get it. Naibus's response was fine, but S_D and dynamite1980 deserve a warning for getting off topic.

 

As for what to do in those situations, if it's gone off topic to the point of a flaming contest, close the thread. If the topic is still good (if not on topic) keep it open. Don't delete posts unless it's like the links thread where it does actually ruin it. That just causes ill feeling and doesn't allow others to realise that someones gone off topic. I honestly don't think there's any thread that actively needs someones response. If you close a thread, the facts are still in there, and someone can post there opinion elsewhere.

 

UYI, you're being a dick over te Loss thing. He's doing a good job, take it to HD or PM. Or, better still, give him a chance to make the mistakes you're so sure he's gonna make.

Fair play, FS. When I read the thread it wasn't being discussed. However, that conversation would be better served in a thread of it's own, and has been discussed numerous times recently. If the thread were to go on in that matter, it should be renamed to something like "who is WWE's next night in shining armour? (aka CHRIS JERICHO WAS RIGHT!!!!!). That way the conversation has a chance to work.

I think one of the big problems is that sometimes people will not think about the wording in used in their posts and how it will look to the intended audience since I felt the same way as Chave did when I saw the title of that thread at the WWE folder's section listed.

 

I mean, using all CAPS like that immediately sends a red flag to me that someone might be spamming the board or trying to start a flame war since using all CAPS like that does have negative connotations to it.

Jesus Christ, I've mostly been ignoring all this drama, because I don't care to be honest, but Loss, how anal are you? You're picking apart every little post! Phil Jackson is considered a great coach because he let's his player play. A message board is nothing without the personalities that post there, and whether you like it or not, these are the personalities that post here. Not every post is going to be profound. I myself find great entertainment in the various one liners, insults and witisisms here at TSM. Just let things play out. If I see a thread that I feel isn't worth my time to continue reading, I push the back button and don't return to the thread! It's THAT simple. A lot of the time, threads I decide not to read anymore, continue to have replies added. Why? Because even if I don't find an interest in the thread, others obviously do. Maybe they're having fun. That's why I visit this place, IT'S FUN. It's a place to discuss topics relating to wrestling and pop culture and be as cynical and creative as you want! They might be whining, but it should say something that the posters complaining the most are Downhome, Anglesault and RRR, who post DAILY in the WWE folder and keep topics going. If someone is being an ass the other posters will let them know. Let it play out. Eventually someone will get tired of arguing. If someone doesn't like it, they don't have to read the thread! Moderators should exist to take care of blatant trolls and excessive flaming. Otherwise, there's no need to be picking apart every thread. OMG SOMEONE ONLY HAD A ONE WORD REPLY!!!!1111 I don't get into these issues very often but as a long time poster I felt the need to speak up. Don't ruin what's fun about this place.
